Presidential Reveiw
I hope this first newsletter of 2015 finds everyone ready for an exciting
new year. I have to stop and ask myself where did the time between Thanksgiving and the end of the year go? It is always special to be with your family and
friends. Our December party was a fun time for all who were able to make it. We
all enjoyed the music provided by our own Lamar Walker. As usual our food table was overflowing. Thanks to everyone who brought the goodies.
Speaking of thanks, kudos to the Board, the club officers and the committee chairpersons for their dedication thru out the year. And a very SPECIAL
thank you to Joyce Bennett for all her hard work and excellent leadership during
the last two years. If you are reading this newsletter then you know we all owe
Mike Marr a big thank you. As the editor of our monthly newsletter he keeps us
all informed of the upcoming news and events.
The December business meeting was held December 9th. It was voted to
send out our yearly contributions to our designated charities. $100 was sent to
PATH, $100 to Clover Caring Center and $200 to the Ellen Taylor Foundation.
Janet Love reported we have 63 members at this time. It is not too late to re-up
for the upcoming year. Mike Bolin has challenged each member to bring a guest
to our dances. Sounds like a good way to grow our membership.
Wendell and Libby Sowell have the 2015 SOS cards and will have them
at our January party. With Mid-Winter SOS starting Jan. 15th you will want to go
ahead and purchase yours at the club rate of $30 each. Also with the Mid-Winter
SOS dates in mind, please mark your calendar for the January business meeting
on Tuesday Jan. 6th. (instead of the 2nd Tues after our dance).
Let’s all plan for another outstanding year. Good friends, great music,
wonderful DJ’s and a few smooth dance steps. Oh yeah…2015 is going to be a
winner for the York Shag Club!
