2015 Schedule & Information Saturday, February 21 Fair Park, Dallas Route: Student cars must enter Fair Park by GATE 2 - see map on back. Entry is free before 8am and after 5pm. Entering the gate between those times, Fair Park will charge $5 for all-day parking but free 30 min drop-off area is available. 7:30 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Student Check-In Notes The concession area in Centennial Hall will be open to students. Due to Mardi Gras event at Fair Park, the Old Mill restaurant will be off-limits. Enter Centennial Hall through the East entrance – see map on back. Students check-in, pick up packets, give contact phone number, set up exhibits. Students must then stay at their project for Display & Safety inspection. Projects unclaimed after 7.30 p.m. will be stacked by the entrance and disposed of Sunday morning by cleaning contractor. 8:45 a.m. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Clear the Building Supplies you may need: All family, teachers, guests must exit the building. Only students, judges and fair officials may remain. 9:00 a.m.-Noon . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Judging - Interviews All projects should have between two and four 10-minute interviews with a Science Category judge (red ribbon). Projects may or may not also have interviews with Special Award Judges (blue ribbon). Students are required to stay with their projects during this time. Unattended projects will not be judged. All student team members must be present for all interviews, otherwise they lose points. Interviews cannot be formally scheduled. Students should generally not try to attend simultaneous events, but may informally ask their judge group captain (yellow folder) to be interviewed early. If any student has not had an interview by 9:45 am, they should contact the judge captain (yellow folder). Noon (approximately) . . . . . . . . Clear the exhibition area All students are dismissed from the exhibition area. Boards may not be removed; small valuable items can be signed out at the check-in desk. 1:30-2:30 p.m. . . . . . . . .. . . . . . . Grand Prize Qualifiers Notified All students who have qualified for the Grand-Prize Round will be phoned on numbers they provided at check-in and asked to return to Centennial Hall. The names of these students will also be posted inside the building. It’s important students are contactable at this time and able to return within about 1/2 hour. 2:30-5:30 p.m. (approximately) . . . . . . . . . . Grand Prize Judging To be considered for a Grand Prize, student qualifiers must be present at their project for interviews and remain during the Grand Prize Judging. There will be three or four 10-minute interviews with a new set of expert judges. 5:30-6:30 p.m. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Free Public Exhibition Centennial Hall: Full results displayed, winners' ribbons on projects. Grand Prizes announced at 6 p.m. Security will not allow projects to be removed until 6:30 p.m. - No Exceptions! 6.30-7:30 p.m. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Project Tear-Down Security will allow removal of a project from the building only with the Removal Pass that will be provided in the check-in packet. If the pass is not available, a replacement may be requested with photo ID at the admin desk Covered tables and chairs will be provided. Students bring all other supplies needed for their exhibit, such as batteries, tape, scissors, staplers, etc. If 110V electric is required at the project, students should bring a 25 ft., 16 gauge, grounded extension cord to connect to one of the building outlets. Battery-operated items such as laptops, lights, videos, etc. should be brought already charged and then kept off or in sleep mode until judged. Your Schedule: This schedule has been crafted to maximize convenience for thousands of people involved, and for the safety of all persons and property at the fair. Please be reasonable and assist our volunteers by adjusting your schedule to fit! Display & Safety Rules: Refer to Display & Safety Rules on the student page at www.drsef.org Student Parking Entrance GATE 2 Left lane if Parry Av from South Check-In If dropping-off /picking-up Exit to East. 2015 BEAL BANK DALLAS REGIONAL SCIENCE & ENGINEERING FAIR Centennial Hall Registration and ISEF Forms Only students whose ISEF forms have been submitted by their school via the ScienceFairOracle will be allowed to check-in at the fair. For safety and liability reasons, DRSEF is unable to make any exceptions. Students and teachers may verify in their Science Fair Oracle accounts whether a project was successfully submitted. Print and bring to the fair only those ISEF forms that must be displayed (see below). The Project Display All students should print out and display a copy of their ISEF abstract vertically at the project, for example taped to the table front (no glass frames please). If applicable, also print out and display copies of Forms 1C and Form 7 like the abstract. Cover your name and school on anything that is on display, including printed ISEF forms. Do not display any personal information or symbols. Put acknowledgements in a binder, not on the board. Changes Requested at Check-in Students will have to wait to make a formal appeal to a fair director before they can set up. If the change is approved, there is a $50 change processing fee. Project Tear-Down Security will not allow boards to be removed until the tear-down period on Saturday 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. No Exceptions! Uncollected boards will be disposed of Sunday by the cleaning contractor, so collect it Saturday evening if you want to keep it!
