Tournament - Memorial Day
Mixed Triples
Approximately 40 members
attended the information session
conducted by the Board in
December. Members were brought
up to date with various projects,
and those in attendance were able
to raise issues which they would
like the Board to take into
consideration.

Memorial Day Tournament
The event will be held on
Wednesday 18th March
commencing at 7pm. It will be
conducted alongside the Night
Pennant Grand Final as it was last
year. More detail will follow.
The café blinds have been installed
on the southern end of the Rose
Green. These are not intended for
use during Summer months. The
intention is that they will be set up
at the start of Winter and remain
down all Winter. The greens
committee are responsible for their
use and members are asked to not
attempt to adjust these to suit
themselves.
Greens
Chicken and Salad Night
Both grass greens have come back
very well after the Christmas break
and are bowling very well. Thank
you to all our greens volunteers
who put a lot of time and effort into
the greens and surrounds over the
break.
This month’s Chicken and Salad
night is to be held this Friday
(January 23rd). All members and
their friends are invited. Being
Australia Day this weekend, the
function will have a special
Australiana theme. Please put your
name on the list at the club, or
contact Peter Cross or Wes Gibbs.
The date listed in the club booklet
for this tournament is incorrect.
The new shades have been installed
at the north end of the Foundation
Green and are providing more
shelter than the previous ones on
sunny days.

RACV Road safety Presentation
The RACV have been invited to
make a presentation to members
regarding Road Safety for Seniors.
It will take place at the clubhouse at
7.30pm on Thursday 5th February.
Details can be found at the end of
the Newsletter. The presentation
goes for about an hour.
Club Champions
Congratulations to Marika
Armstrong and Vince Page on
winning their respective Club
Championships. Also
congratulations to Elaine Brewster
and Bill Probst on winning the B
Grade Championships.
You may have noticed that the
carpet has a bit more pace in it
since it was shampooed and rolled. Happy Hour
The Board are investigating
methods of keeping the birds out of
the Rose Green and soiling the
carpet.
The new greens roster for the
second half of the season is now
Don’t forget that we have “Happy
Hour” each Friday night at the
club. Come along from 5pm for
drinks at reduced prices and light
refreshments. You can also try your
luck in the raffle and see who wins
on the Jackpot Wheel. All members and their friends
are welcome.
The Shot
This month’s Shot magazine will not be a printed
copy. In an effort to save costs Bowls Victoria have
published this edition as an on-line edition. It can be
viewed on the Bowls Victoria website. It has lots of
information and reports from the Vic Open. A couple
of copies have been printed at the club and are on the
ledge in front of the bar. Feel free to read these, but
please return them for others to read.
Ladies’ Section
Congratulations go to Marika Armstrong our Ladies
Club Champion and Elaine Brewster the B Grade
Champion. Marika will play next week at Euroa in the
Champion of Champions. Good luck.
Before Christmas the GV State Fours was played at
Hill Top and congratulations to the winners Marika
Armstrong, Bev Thorn, Brenda Brodie and Shirley
Raglus.
The Stirrers Day was enjoyable day, but a sad day for
the ladies. Next year might be different.???
A chicken and salad night will be held on Friday 23rd.
There is a list outside to put your names on. The night
will be ‘Australia Day’ theme. A real Aussie night.
All the best to all pennant teams for a strong finish to
the season.
Sponsors
Following is a list of our Club Sponsors. Murray
Phillips has done an excellent job in contacting these
businesses to help our club financially. Members can
assist Murray by utilising these sponsors when
making purchases. Feel free to mention that you
belong to the Club when making your purchases so
that they know we are supporting them as well.

An old, tired-looking dog wandered into the yard. I
could tell from his collar (though no tags) and wellfed belly and clean that he had a home.
House Report
Main Clubhouse floor has been recovered with new
vinyl. Thanks to the City Council. Some high spots
were ground down to make the floor more level, so
this should assist the indoor bowlers. The chairs and
tables have been checked and new plastic feet have
been replaced where necessary.
Open Area
He followed me into the house, down the hall, and
promptly fell asleep on the couch.
My dogs didn't seem to mind him. He seemed like a
good dog and I was OK with him, so I let him nap. An
hour later he ambled to the door and I let him out.
The next day he was back, resumed his position on the
couch, and slept for an hour.
This continued for days. Curious, I pinned a note to
his collar: "Every afternoon your dog comes to my
house for a nap. I don't mind but want to be sure it's
OK with you."
The next day he arrived with a different note pinned
to his collar.
The Board is looking into having a shade sail placed "He lives in a home with six children -- all boys. I'm
over the recently re-concreted area at the north end of sure he's just trying to catch up on his sleep. May I
come with him tomorrow?"
the clubhouse. This should make the area more user
friendly on sunny days.
Annual Meetings
A reminder to all members that the Annual General
Meetings of the three sections are to be held in April
and the club AGM in May. While these are still a fair
way off, members are asked to consider how they may
be able to step up and consider nominating for a
committee position. A good way to find out what is
involved is to ask an incumbent member or to look at
the Roles and Responsibilities document, which can
be found on the club notice board and club website.
Presentation Night
The date for our Presentation Night has been set for
Friday 10th April. This will take the form of a
Chicken and Salad Night with presentations made
throughout the evening.
