The intention is that they will be set up at the start of Winter and remain down all Winter. The greens committee are responsible for their use and members are asked to not attempt to adjust these to suit themselves. Greens Chicken and Salad Night Both grass greens have come back very well after the Christmas break and are bowling very well. Thank you to all our greens volunteers who put a lot of time and effort into the greens and surrounds over the break. This month’s Chicken and Salad night is to be held this Friday (January 23rd). All members and their friends are invited. Being Australia Day this weekend, the function will have a special Australiana theme. Please put your name on the list at the club, or contact Peter Cross or Wes Gibbs. The date listed in the club booklet for this tournament is incorrect. I could tell from his collar (though no tags) and wellfed belly and clean that he had a home. House Report Main Clubhouse floor has been recovered with new vinyl. Thanks to the City Council. Some high spots were ground down to make the floor more level, so this should assist the indoor bowlers. The chairs and tables have been checked and new plastic feet have been replaced where necessary. Open Area He followed me into the house, down the hall, and promptly fell asleep on the couch. My dogs didn't seem to mind him. He seemed like a good dog and I was OK with him, so I let him nap. An hour later he ambled to the door and I let him out. The next day he was back, resumed his position on the couch, and slept for an hour. This continued for days. Curious, I pinned a note to his collar: "Every afternoon your dog comes to my house for a nap. I don't mind but want to be sure it's OK with you." The next day he arrived with a different note pinned to his collar. The Board is looking into having a shade sail placed "He lives in a home with six children -- all boys. I'm over the recently re-concreted area at the north end of sure he's just trying to catch up on his sleep. May I come with him tomorrow?" the clubhouse. This should make the area more user friendly on sunny days. Annual Meetings A reminder to all members that the Annual General Meetings of the three sections are to be held in April and the club AGM in May. While these are still a fair way off, members are asked to consider how they may be able to step up and consider nominating for a committee position. A good way to find out what is involved is to ask an incumbent member or to look at the Roles and Responsibilities document, which can be found on the club notice board and club website. Presentation Night The date for our Presentation Night has been set for Friday 10th April. This will take the form of a Chicken and Salad Night with presentations made throughout the evening.
