Cooking tips for this week - by Mrs. J Cloth
Eggs: The simplest way to tell is an egg is fresh it to observe
it's shell. If it's rough and chalky, it's fresh. If it's smooth and shiny, it's
old. You can also place an egg in cold salted water. If it sinks, it's
fresh. If it floats, it's old. To tell if an egg is hard boiled or raw, spin it.
A hard-boiled egg will spin smoothly. A raw egg will wobble. It is easier to separate eggs when they are cold.
Milk: Rinse the pan with cold water before boiling milk to prevent
sticking.
Oil For Frying: To effectively strain debris from used cooking
oil, use a coffee filter placed in a funnel.

The 19th Dukhan Team Invitational Friday 16.01.2015
The Clubs flagship competition was held last week with well over 100 golfers gathered from all over the land.
There were many nerve wrecking moments. Will the club house be ready? Will the
weather be kind? Will the never relenting winds ease and give us all a break?
Will there be enough funding for all the prizes?
On the day the winds were calm the club house looked excellent, and all was well
thanks to the huge efforts of so many people.
Al Mana, Al Waha both worked tirelessly to present the club and viewing area in
the way they did.
QP’s IFC Catering ,gift bags, IFM for driving the contractors to the limit, FSL
transport for assisting with taxies, FSM for the loan of the generator, Medical services for their support and presence all day in case they were required but thankfully all went well.
The sponsors, thanks to all who donated towards the prizes.
The winners of the 19th Dukhan Team
Amwaj under the guidance of IFC and Chef Bandara. Security for their help at the
Invitational
gate with the visitors, golfers, sponsors & suppliers.
The course boys and Chris did all work hard to present the course in as good a
shape as possible. The club house staff who worked all hours to make it a day to
remember.
One person that made all possible with his dogged determination and commitment.
That person is Monico. The unsung hero of the whole event.
If you would have looked at the clubhouse a few days before you would’ve thought
never in a month of Sundays. But we did it.
The volunteers girls and boys for all the help on both Thursday & Friday. The
score board guys & galas well as help in the office with the score cards. Not forgetting the Drawing office who printed the score board sheets.
The committee members: Vice President, Treasurer, Captain, Vice-Captain,
Course Member, The social committee who mucked in with volunteers on Thursday.
All under the guidance Of the President Hussaim Al Mutawa.
Runners up: Suzairi Bin Suhaimi, Jemat Bin
Oh yea and I helped a bit here and there.
Idi & Tarmizi Bin Wan Muda
Now to the golf. There were 38 teams entered. Out of a total of 114 golfers, there
were 3 no shows. The best no show of all were the wind and the fog.
This meant that we couldn’t have wished for a better day. But all the same, the
tension and nerviness was there by the bucket.
However, Dukhan golfers were on song and all top four positions went to the local
golfers. In forth and with a total of 145 score was the team of Ashok Bhutani, Debashis Roy and Hamka Bin Suleiman. Third position went the DES team of Joe
Paleotti, Martyn Kilburn & Scott John with a score of 144. Runners up and scoring
143 nett was the team of Jemat Bin Idi, Suzairi Bin Suhaimi & Tarmizi Bin Wan
Muda.
The winners of the 19th Dukhan Team Invitational was the team of Graham Farrow, Millie Farrow & Rob Hixson. Scoring a total score of 140 nett.
Congratulations to all our winners and to all those involved in this success story.

KS2 Cake Bake
KS2 Cake Bake had to take place at the sunny corner of the P block due to
strong wind. We are pleased to say that we totally sold out all the cakes
and every pupil had a cake. Our headmaster Derek Jones couldn’t resist the
delicious cakes which were baked by the amazing parents of DES. We would
like to thank everybody who sent amazing cakes to help us to raise money
for DESCAT. We couldn’t have done without your help!

P. K. is a comedy of ideas about a stranger in the city, who asks questions that no one has asked before.
They are innocent, child-like questions, but they bring about catastrophic answers. People who are set in
their ways for generations, are forced to reappraise their world when they see it from PK's innocent eyes. In
the process PK makes loyal friends and powerful foes. Mends broken lives and angers the establishment. P.
K.'s childlike curiosity transforms into a spiritual odyssey for him and millions of others. The film is an ambitious and uniquely original exploration of complex philosophies. It is also a simple and humane tale of love,
laughter and letting-go. Finally, it is a moving saga about a friendship between strangers from worlds apart.
