School Uniform Information School Uniforms A school uniform is required for all students. Students are expected to observe proper dress code standards. Parents will be notified regarding dress code infractions. Parents are encouraged to label all your child’s belongings. Please note that all students must be crested at all times. There are three uniform options for students in Junior Kindergarten to Grade 6; a full uniform, a dress uniform as well as a tracksuit. Uniform requirements for 3 year old students are limited and are outlined in the document below. Students from Grades 1-‐6 are also required to purchase a gym strip. Students who are 3 year old to Kindergarten do not need a gym strip. Full Uniform The full uniform must be worn every Wednesday as well as for concerts, assemblies, field trips (if appropriate) and photo days. Dress Uniform Dress Uniform is to be worn on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. It is also a uniform option for Fridays. Tracksuit On Fridays, students have the option to wear the tracksuit to school. Tracksuits must be worn with the River Valley School t-‐shirt or polo shirt underneath the athletic jacket. Students may also choose to wear the full or dress uniform on a Friday. Gym Strip The gym strip is used for Physical Education class for grades 1-‐6 only. It is to be kept at school in a cloth drawstring bag during the week and brought home for laundering on a regular basis. 3 Year Old Uniform All students in the Progressive or Montessori Program who are in the 3 year old category have uniform requirements that are limited. Parents can supplement uniform pieces with alternate choices that can be purchased at a retailer other than Lands’ End. However, we do require that your child be crested at all times. Watch the calendar for dates of special occasions and/or requests from the classroom teachers regarding uniforms. Lands’ End -‐ Purchasing Uniforms Most of your uniform needs can be purchased from Lands’ End. They are a US based company, who ships to Canada. To order through them you will need to go to the Lands’ End website: www.landsend.com. You can find our schools dress code by clicking on the link -‐School Uniforms-‐ and scrolling to the bottom of the menu to -‐Find Your School’s Dress Code-‐. You can also save your student(s) to your Lands’ End account for future reference. Lands’ End has various Grade/Status categories with specific uniform options and sizes for those categories. The categories are as follows: Nursery – this category includes all 3 year old students who are either in the Progressive or Montessori Program. The size of uniform options are limited in the category as there is sizing available for children 2T-‐4T. Parents can supplement uniform pieces with alternate choices from a retailer other than Lands’ End. However, we do require that your child be crested at all times. Junior Kindergarten – this category is for all 4 year old students who are either in the Progressive or Montessori Program. Kindergarten – this category is for all 5 year old students who are either in the Progressive or Montessori Program. Grades 1 – 6 – this category is for all students in grades 1 to 6 who are either in the Progressive or Montessori Program. Uniform Sizing & Customer Service Please note that when ordering your child’s uniform pieces, Lands’ End has “Toddler”, “Little Kid”, “Big Kid” and “Adult” sizing. Please make sure you choose the correct size of uniform piece prior to placing your order. Not to worry! If you make a mistake or need some assistance, Lands’ End customer service is always there to help you out with your online order. Clothing Labels ‘Stuck On You’ & ‘Mabel’s Labels’ A great way to stop your children losing their uniforms and personal items is name labels. ‘This is a fun way of labeling your child’s clothing, find out how to order with them through their website: www.stuckonyou.ca or www.mabelslabels.com. Navy/gray socks 3 Year Old Uniform Options As the sizing for 3 year olds is limited, the uniform requirements for those in the 3 year old program are also limited. Parents can purchase as many of the uniform requirements from the Lands’ End website and are welcome to supplement pieces from an alternate retailer other than Lands’ End. Children are still expected to be crested at all times. To access the uniform options on the Lands’ End website for the 3 year olds, please select “Nursery” as the Grade/Status. Sizing in this category includes a toddler (2T-‐4T) option whereas the remainder of the Grade/Status categories for students at River Valley School begin at a 4-‐7 year old sizing.
