At Robert's birthday party I had the pleasure of visiting with a vivacious, six year old, third

We quickly discovered we have much in common. She had ridden a
float in the Whitehaven Christmas parade a couple of days before our
conversation. I, seventy-eight yeas earlier, had as a six-year old ridden
a float in the 1936 Booneville, Mississippi Christmas parade.
We immediately became confidants.
Swearing me to secrecy (and I swear all of you to secrecy) she admitted
that she has a boyfriend. I can tell you only that he is a "pencil" pal who
lives in Texas.
It was soon apparent that they seldom see each other. I suggested that
she and her "pencil" pal elope. After I defined the word she thought it
was a great idea. She did promise to tell her Mom before she left.
Samantha Marie Booker
I asked her if she could remember the word elope. She said, "Sure, it
sounds like cantaloupe."

GMS & RDA MINUTES DECEMBER 16, 2014
The GMS & RDA meeting was called to order
December 16, 2014 at 7:15 by Dorothy Bobo,
President. In attendance were 4 officers, 11
delegates from 7 clubs, 1 state delegate and 5
visitors.
The November minutes were approved.
The treasurer's report was approved. Ron
Mosbeck noted that $8000 has been withdrawn
from the investments for GMS & RDA expenses
during 2014.
Committee reports:
Area demos and announcements: no demos at this
time
Sunshine: Peggy Vanlandingham mailed 2 get
well cards.
TN State Association report: There was no report.
Special Activities reports:
Club specials: Mary Ann Walker read the
December dances and asked for the clubs to get
their specials in for next year. Mary Ann Moats
reminded everyone that the P&P's will be open
December 27th and starting January 17th Gorden
Brower will be offering round dance lessons at 7
pm before the P&P dance. Cost is $3 per couple.
Christmas A & R Dance: Consensus: a great and
fun dance! Thanks was expressed to all who helped
put it together.
Old Business:
The Second Vote on the proposed amendments to
By-Laws was taken. The amendments were passed
and will be incorporated into the By-Laws.
A master list of available decorations, craft
items, etc. was passed out to each club so if they
want to check out any item they may do so through
Mary Ann Walker. As a reminder, last month it
was moved that the association buy plates, cups,
cutlery and napkins to be kept in stock for clubs to
use instead of clubs buying these items themselves.
The motion passed.
Mary Ann Walker thanked each club for timely
return of membership dues and annual club dues.
Only one club returned their Ballots for Officers
for 2015. As a reminded, there is no one listed for
President. Each member may WRITE IN a name
provided they have contacted that person and is
sure they would serve. These are to be turned in to
Merrie Jo Poortvliet as soon as possible.
There being no more business the meeting was
adjourned at 7:37 pm.
