Learning For All Ages Harris Hall Group The Adult Bible Study is using, Trusting the Covenant, which is the third segment of the Covenant Bible Study series. On-Line Praying Wives Join our praying wives group! Each morning, a blind email is sent out with words that can help you meet that New Year’s resolution to be a more prayerful wife. Contact Beth Posey at [email protected] to be added to the list. Inclement Weather Although we have not had much significant weather this winter, predictions were for more snow than usual. It is the policy of the church office follow the guidelines of the Federal Government. If the government is closed, the office is closed. This will help keep staff safe during inclement weather. Judges Needed Calvary church has been hosting Odyssey of the Mind groups for several weeks. These are groups of elementary kids and adults who work together on problems to go to a competition on Saturday, March 7. The groups are in need of judges for the event on March 7. A training day for judges is on Saturday, February 7 at 8:15am at St. Louis Catholic School. A continental breakfast provided. Six for Supper is for you! It’s a small group fellowship where people gather several times over the course of a year for meals at each other’s homes or restaurant. It is a living, loving, and growing group. Our kick-off will be a potluck dinner at church on Sunday, February 8 at 6pm, where you will meet all the in Six for Supper participants, and find out who is in your small group. It’s Chili Time! Do you like to eat chili? Would you like experience better communication within Calvary and beyond? You can do both! With a sufficient number of orders we will create our famous Calvary Chili at the church on Thursday evening, January 29, to be picked up that evening or during coffee hour after either worship service on Sunday, February 1 just in time for the Super Bowl. The proceeds will enable us to launch the new church web site; resulting in better communication within Calvary and the sharing of our church message with others. Do you enjoy singing familiar hymns with others? Several folks from Calvary join with residents of Sunrise Assisted Living in Alexandria (on Duke Street) to sing hymns and read Bible stories and spend time together once a month (on the fourth Sunday) for about an hour or so. This month, the date is Sunday, January 25 at 2pm (please note new time). Come and share in the joy of generations! Sunday, January 25, 6-8pm-– Youth Group at Calvary Women’s Retreat Take a Walk With God at Garden Getaway! Looking for time away from the busyness of life—time to “stop and smell the roses,” as you relax with friends, share laughter and stories, and spend time with God? Join us at our Garden Getaway retreat to experience all this and more! The retreat will be February 20-22, 2015 at Mt. Atena Camp and Retreat Center in Hagerstown, MD. The cost is $90 per person for a shared room for the weekend, including meals. This retreat is hosted by New Hope, FaithPoint and Middletown United Methodist Churches. Over 700 children that have been in, are in, or passed through our community of faith receive a birthday card from Calvary each year. We receive notes back from children with thanks that they have been remembered by this church. Volunteers (with background checks) send these cards faithfully. Calvary provides the names/addresses and envelopes/stamps.
