Obtain or maintain certification of competency in an Advanced Life Support Course (attainment within three months of commencement). HIGHLY DESIRABLE: Demonstrated commitment to the provision of a high quality clinical service. Demonstrated leadership to basic and advanced physician trainees in a level 1 teaching hospital setting. Demonstrated effective time management, organisational and written and verbal communication skills. A commitment to clinical and academic career development in line with the applicant’s sub-specialty interest with demonstrated ability to complete formal postgraduate training in internal medicine in a timely manner. Page 2 of 4 PD Tempalte June 2014 Specific functions for this position: Take accountability for knowledge of and compliance with systems necessary for the safety of visitors and patients including emergency procedures. When working at other than Calvary Health Care ACT controlled workplaces, ensure awareness of the safety policy and safety management system requirements for the place of work for the tasks being performed. Prompt reporting of all WHS incidents to their supervisor or manager and ensure that the details are entered into RiskMan2. 1. Provide and support competent and efficient clinical management of Calvary Health Care medical patients under the supervision and direction of Consultant Physicians and the Director of Medical Services. Clinical duties include assessment and management of acute presentations, in-patient care, diagnosis and management of patients in outpatient clinics, medical consultations, leading morning and afternoon clinical handover. 2. Liaise with other key stakeholders in the hospital discharge planning process, including ensuring management of outliers, timely discharge of medical patients, discharge summary quality and completion and attendance at the Daily Operational Plan (DOP) meeting. 3. Participate in the day to day supervision, training and professional development of junior medical staff. In consultation with Medical Administration, prepare and supervise the implementation of the medical registrar roster for both advanced and basic PREP trainees. 4. Arrange and manage the RACP education program for PREP trainees at Calvary; support trainees completing their RACP training requirements and organize both trial and formal RACP formative assessments. Chair the committee for the annual FRACP clinical examination. 5. Support the annual recruitment process for PREP trainees to the Canberra Hospital Network Training program, of which Calvary is part. 6. Fulfill own RACP training commitments for chosen sub-specialty including participation in the relevant teaching program and activities and timely completion of assessments and research commitments. 7. Participate in the after-hours and on-call medical registrar roster as required. 8. Contribute to clinical audit and participate in changes that improve quality and safety of patient care. 9. Comply with the policies and requirements of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and the policies of Calvary Health Care ACT.
