“ Supporters and the Noah Homes Board of
Directors established the Foundation to raise
awareness of Noah Homes and to strengthen
Noah’s present and future financial stability. The
Foundation was created to maintain the high
level of quality that remains the standard for
Noah Homes programs and services as well as
the beauty of the Noah Homes community.”
-Peter Ferrantelli, Ark Angel Chair
For more than 30 years, we have been pushing the boundaries of innovative residential
care, advocacy and collaborative services. In 1983, a core group of devoted parents
founded Noah Homes because there were no residential services for their six adult
children with developmental disabilities. These founding families wanted to ensure their
loved ones and others like them would have a faith-based, loving place to grow and
age with dignity. We now have 70 residents affectionately called “The Folks” living on
our 11-acre campus, 200 people waiting to call Noah their home and thousands more
looking for a place like Noah in California.
When Noah Homes opened Casa de
Felicidad 30 years ago, the average age
of residents was 27. Today the average
age is 48 years old and climbing.
There are many ways to help Noah Homes
raise $6.7 million. These include:
“Noah Homes is THE model of care for supporting
adults with disabilities in their home life. Our staff
love what they do and it shows in the care and
dedication that happens every single day on our
community campus. Once a placement happens
at Noah, it becomes their home – for life”.

National information about aging and the need for memory care for adults
with disabilities:
1) Adults with developmental disabilities age faster than the general population and
experience dementia earlier than the general population
2) The incidence of Alzheimer’s disease among the Down syndrome population over 60 years old is >90%
3) 1 in 3 seniors dies with Alzheimer’s or another dementia
4) Alzheimer’s is the most expensive disease in the nation
5) Alzheimer’s is the third leading cause of death in San Diego and the sixth in the nation
NOAH HOMES IS LEADING THE WAY
Three years ago, advocate and CEO Molly
Nocon began a conversation with the State of
California about the ever-increasing needs of
adults with disabilities aging. She learned that
the state had no plan and no funding in place
because they had not counted on these adults
living into their 50s, 60s and beyond. Today there
are 60,000 people in San Diego County living
with Alzheimer’s disease. Out of those, 80
percent are being cared for at home.
“As some of the folks are aging, their
chances are good that they will have
Alzheimer’s, or a related dementia... Right
now there is no cure. A diagnosis of
Alzheimer’s is basically a death sentence..
We must find a cure, I believe in San Diego
County we’ve got the brightest and the
best and I think we will do it here.”
-Dianne Jacobs, County Supervisor
Currently, our residents who require memory
care must leave Noah Homes and move into a
much more institutional facility to obtain
needed care. In essence, the residents leave
their homes, their friends and their extended
family who have come to love them.
WHAT IS THE SOLUTION?
Two years ago Noah Homes began
tackling these serious issues. Under the
strong leadership of Molly Nocon and the
Board of Directors, a plan was developed
to provide Memory Care Homes on our
existing campus that will allow our
residents to remain at Noah Homes
through end of life.
JOIN THE JOURNEY
Noah Homes plans to address the pressing need of providing quality memory care to
people with developmental disabilities.
Starting with the generosity of Walter Fitch,
all of our facilities at Noah Homes have
always been built with philanthropic
support. Our commitment to debt-free
growth and balanced budgets, leads us
in the direction of launching a $6.7 million
campaign, Join the Journey.
Our campaign will address three key areas:
•
Memory Care Homes
•
Critical Campus Efficiency Projects
•Endowment
Location of new Memory Care homes on our campus
I. Memory Care Homes – $3,000,000
•
•
•
Two licensed memory care residential facilities (10 residents each) at service level 4 reimbursement will be dedicated to the aging needs of our residents
20 beds will create opportunities for new residents to come off our waiting list and become residents in our current homes
Our goal is that our memory care services for adults with disabilities will serve as a model for this care, not only in California but across the nation
Noah Homes is proud to be the first to build Memory Care Homes for adults with
disabilities in California. There are only a few other memory care facility serving adults
with disabilities in the United States. Collaborating with organizations in San Diego
County and around the country, Noah Homes intends to become a national model for
memory care for adults with developmental disabilities.
“Noah Homes was there in my family’s time of need and my priority in my time as CEO has been to be
there for other families who depend upon this dedicated staff to do the same for their loved one.”
-Molly Nocon, CEO of Noah Homes
“There is never a day that goes by that the folks do not warm my heart with their hugs and kisses!! I feel
truly blessed to have each and every one of them in my life. The folks at Noah Homes have taught me
that whatever obstacles come my way there is always a way to overcome.”
