AUCC Weekend Preview AUCC Premier Men v Birkenhead City

AUCC Weekend Preview
AUCC Premier Men v Birkenhead City – CMP `E` Block
After their recent success in the limited over competition`s the focus for our
premier men`s side switches back to the longer form of the game this weekend
when they will face Birkenhead City on CMP`s `E` Block.
Our boys ended the first half of the two-day campaign in fifth position on the
Hedley Howarth Trophy ladder and, with three rounds remaining before the
competition splits into top four and bottom four, Vamshi Puppala`s team will be
hoping their strong run of form continues on Saturday afternoon.
City currently sit second on the Major Championship ladder but our boys will be
confident of success having beaten Saturday`s visitors just two weeks ago in the
Jeff Crowe Cup.
Varsity will be at full strength for the contest with seamer Josh Fisher coming
back into the side after helping Auckland`s U19 team claim the National
Provincial Championship down in Lincoln earlier this week.
AUCC Premier Reserves v East Coast Bays – Windsor Park
It`s crunch time in the AUCC Premier Reserves one-day season as they travel to
Windsor Park for the penultimate round match against East Coast Bays.
Nigel Fletcher`s side have won four consecutive one-day matches and currently
sit just three points behind leaders Howick Pakuranga and are tied with
Cornwall for second place with the top two teams progressing to the final.
Saturday`s opponents Bays are currently bottom of the ladder with just one win
from six matches and, despite being without Tes Taliauli and Dan Marsic, the
reserves are able to name a strong line up with opening batsman Finn Allen
returning from a successful stint with Auckland`s U17 side down in Wellington.
AUCC Senior A1 v Hibiscus Coast – Victor Eaves Park
Our Senior A1 side makes the long trip to Victor Eaves Park this Saturday
afternoon for what is essentially a one-day championship decider against
Hibiscus Coast.
With just two one-day matches remaining in the season the winner of this
contest between the top two teams will essentially determine the destination of
the trophy.
Varsity are able to field a strong line up with star batsmen Jonty Dineen and Nick
Wanden set to feature with Adrian Fong making a timely return to the bowling
crease.
AUCC Senior B3 v Papatoetoe – Papatoetoe Recreation Ground
After securing a win in their first game of 2015 last weekend the AUCC Senior
B3s will be looking to continue that momentum this Saturday when they face
Papatoetoe at the Papatoetoe Recreation Ground.
New captain Alex Jensen, filling in for the holidaying Donald White, is hoping to
maintain is 100% with a similar looking line up to the one that defeated Suburbs
New Lynn last weekend.
AUCC Premier Women
While our premier women`s team is not in action this week no fewer than four of
our players will be competing in the domestic one-day final in Rangiora on
Sunday afternoon.
Hearts players Anna Peterson, Victoria Lind and Sara McGlashan will line up
against club teammate Courtney Buckman in the 50 over final with an AUCC rep
certain to be lifting the trophy at the end of the day.
