The newly enrolled Voters of Gangtok, Arithang, Upper Tadong, Upper Burtuk & Shayri Assembly Constituencies have been invited to participate. The purpose of programme is to create awareness among the youth regarding Election and Voting Rights. Man assaulted One 28 yrs old man was assaulted by some unknown persons at Old Taxi Stand, Jorethang Bazar at around 9:30 pm pon Wedensday. The victim sustained serious injuries and was evacuated to Jorethang PHC for medical attention and was later forwarded to District Hospital, Namchi for further treatment. A case has been registered against unknown persons at Jorethang Police Station and is under investigation. Assam Gorkha boy signed by ‘Chur other ‘Churcchill Br Brother otherss Goa’ Guwahati, Jan 22: The club that has been recognized as founding club of the new National Football League will be home to Gorkha footballer Sagar Hang Limboo of Assam for the next one year as he has been signed by Goa based Indian football club ‘Churchill Brothers Goa’, popularly known as ‘The Red Machine’. Sagar Hang Limboo (19), the forward player has come a long way from the small tea estate village of Tipling under Dibrugarh district of Assam to the shores of Goa. He started playing football from standard VIII and represented his school team. His talent was quickly noticed by the Duliajan Football Academy (DFA) of Assam where he honed his talent from 2007-2009. During his time at DFA, Limboo was selected to represent Assam state team in the Under-14 Nationals. He then joined Sports Authority of India (Guwahati) for one year which further helped him to improve his football skills. It was not long before his talent was spotted by As- sam State Electricity Board (ASEB), one of the most successfull popular teams of the state. Limboo was an integral part of ASEB team where he spent 2 years giving impressive performance in the Guwahati League. While at ASEB he also played in Dr T. Aoa tournament and Under-19 Nationals for Assam. His career took a sudden upswing, when he was noticed by a senior footballer while playing a tournament in Siliguri, who was impressed by his game and he put forward Limboo's name to the Kolkata Police Athletic Club which plays in Calcutta Premier League. He scored 4 goals in the qualifying rounds of the Kolkata League. Limboo has also played for Kolkata Giants, Mohun Bagan, East Bengal and Mohammedan Sporting, teams- which he claims to have grown up watching on TV screen and heard about their rich history from his father. (HS) Gangtok, Jan 22: The Sikkim Viklang Sahayata Samiti (SVSS), in its mission to help people suffering from various disabilities is once again set to organize a free mega medical camp in collaboration with Saraswasat Hospital, Agra. Screening of patients as per their needs like fitting of artificial limbs and calipers, cleft lip and cleft palate for corrective surgery and those with burn injuries requiring plastic surgery, concluded in the east district today. The screening of pa- tients is being held districtwise in the respective PHCs and district hospitals. Screening in South will be held from Jan 23-March 31 while Feb 2-12 has been set for the West district. North will join the same starting Feb 12-21. The date and venue for the mega medical camp slated to be held sometime in March is yet to be declared. A team of doctors and experts from Saraswasat Hospital, Agra will attend the screened patients and conduct the medical process like corrective surgeries, fixing of artificial limbs etc. as per the patients' need. Sikkim gears up R-Day celebration Gangtok/Geyzing Jan 22: The State Administration is gearing up and the preparation is in full swing for Republic Day Celebration 2015, which will be held at Paljor Stadium, Gangtok. Rehearsal for the celebration is going on in full swing at Paljor Stadium and the dress rehearsal will be held on January 23 and 24 at 2015 from 9:30 am. In connection with the celebration of Republic Day 2015, first meeting was held at Conference Hall, Manan Bhawan on December 4, which was chaired by the Chief Secretary. The Chief Secretary during the meeting requested all the participants to put their best effort to make the Republic Day Celebration a grand success. The workshop organized by the Darjeeling District Child Rights NGO networks with a seminar initiated by a local NGO Bal Suraksha Abhiyan was attended by 22 different or- ganizations involved for promotion and protection of child rights along with the state level representatives of UNICEF and other eminent personalities like Sister Subishna Thapa, Coordinator, BSA, Ashadur Rehaman, Field Officer, UNICEF West Bengal and Parimita Neyogi a specialist from UNICEF. The BSA initiated the seminar aimed at bridging the gap wise responsibility for making the function a success. The meeting decided that the Sports and Youth Affairs department shall provide Paljor Stadium as a venue for the function and the Police Head Quarter will coordinate with all concerned authorities for organizing parade. The Army was asked to take needful action for display of arms and ammunition during the function. Besides, the meeting also decided upon the roles and responsibilities to be taken up by Cultural Affairs & Heritage Department, Energy and Power, IPR, Police Department and Home Department and other concerned departments for the success of the function. Unidentified dead body found An unidentified male dead body was found hanging from a tree at Namlee Forest, Ranipool yesterday.
