will be back on the board in the future. My congratulations to the officers
that were elected for 2015. On the IACC side we will have Rich Ranciato,
Anne Hines and Mike Faherty and on the Gaelic Club we will have a new
president by the name of John Joe Mackey. I look forward to working with
you all next year. It’s an honor to serve all of you as IACC President and I
cannot thank you enough for everything you do for me and the club. I wish
you all a very happy and safe Christmas and the very best for 2015.

NHGF&HC PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
I’d like to open my first president’s message by thanking the membership
for putting their confidence in me for this position. I’d also like to thank
Pete Burke for all of his hard work during the last few years. I certainly
have some big shoes to fill. December 7th was a very busy day at the club
thanks to our Bazaar Committee. The place was truly hopping with activity
when I arrived. Special thanks to all of the organizers and participants and
especially to the folks who worked so hard in the kitchen making over
80 delicious Irish Breakfasts. Congratulations to the football committee
and coaches who followed up the Bazaar with a night of celebration and
recognition of all that they accomplished on behalf of our club this year.
Special Thanks to Pete (Kris Kringle) Kilkelly for bringing smiles and joy to
our youngest members at the children’s Christmas party and to all the
committee members who helped organize the day. There will be lots of
work to do in 2015 and I look forward to lively membership meetings as
we all come together to share our thoughts and insights about the future
of our club.

IACC PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
My sincere thanks to everyone who helped us out in anyway in 2014. I
appreciate all of your time and effort as without it we could not accomplish
anything. A club is only good as its members and we have the best. My
thanks to Johnny Hanlon and Anne Meaney for keeping the club looking
great all year and to Johnny for all his help with the GAA games. I want to
thank all of our coaches and teachers of the many groups in our club for all
the time they gave us this year. We appreciate all you do for the club and I
want you to know that the board will always be there to assist in any way.
My thanks to our youth footballers, hurlers and camogie players for all the
time and effort you gave and to let you know that the club is proud of all
your accomplishments on the field and off. My thanks also to the parents
for your time. Thanks to State Farm Insurance reps John Mc Cormack and
Brendan Mc Caffrey who each got a $500 donation for our club again this
year. My thanks to all who attend our monthly meetings and especially to
our chair people who attended all our meetings. Our recent Bazaar was a
huge success. My thanks to Madge Mulhall for organizing it and to all who
helped in the kitchen cooking, serving food and selling goods and tickets.
We had a sold out breakfast and the majority of Irish goods were sold. My
thanks also to all the vendors who were present that day. It was nice to
see such a variety of goods. Great job by everyone. My thanks to John O’
Donavan and Pat Stratton for another great concert recently. It was a very
entertaining afternoon of music and song with the group “GIRSA”. Look out
for their next concert in January. Finally I want to thank my IACC officers
and the Gaelic Club president and his officers for all you did for our club this
year. Some of our IACC officers will not be back next. My sincere thanks to
Madge Mulhall, Theresa O’Brien, Lisa Hemingway, Mike Hanlon and Dennis
Hanlon for all you gave to me and the club this year. A special thanks to
the officers who have been with me more than one year. On the Gaelic
Club side we will be loosing it’s president Peter Burke after two years. We
may not have agreed on everything but I know your hearts are in the club
and I am forever grateful for all of your time that you gave. I’m sure you all

good will. Your help in keeping the Games of the Gaels alive in our club is
never taken for granted. God bless to all for a wonderful Christmas and

Meeting Thursday, January 15, at 12.30 P.M.
Ryan’s daughter will be shown at the club on Sunday, January 18, 2:00
P.M. No charge. Bring snacks and enjoy the movie.
Meeting Thursday, February 19th, at 12:30 P.M. Singer Liz Mc Nichol
will entertain us. Any questions call Pat Donahue 203-248-4325 or
Janet Butterworth 203-469-4682.
Due to the support of these listed members we have raised $35,722
in cash and pledges to date, greater than 71% of our goal of $50,000.
THANK YOU! The capital improvement campaign is necessary to help raise
funds for interior and exterior improvements which include remodeling
the front façade on the building, the lounge area and kitchen. Additionally,
a large outside patio and pavilion will be constructed and the expansion of
our field to the minimum Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) requirements.
These improvements will make our facility more enjoyable for all our
members.
The field project blasting has been completed. The removal of rock
and excess dirt is on-going and should be completed by the spring. The
remaining field projects including grading, irrigation system and turf
installation will be completed in early spring 2015. To date, approximately
$174,000 in expenses related to the field project have been paid or
incurred. An additionally $22,000 has been budgeted for top soil, turf and
sprinkler system expansion. Planning for the additional exterior projects
with patio and pavilion installation as well as façade improvements and
interior renovations is continuing where scope and timing of these projects
will be determined.
Our member approved total maximum costs for these projects is $250,000.
At a recent monthly meeting members approved an increased cap on the
field development project from $130,000 (original amount approved) to
$200,000. We have closed on a bank construction related mortgage which
can provide financing for up to $200,000, which is currently available for
use. We have not utilized any of this money and we do not expect to use
any of these available funds before 2015. Any future draw down will be
repaid with contributions from the GAA in Ireland and from our members.
The decision from the GAA on the amount of a grant is still pending final
approval. Therefore we are again asking for those who have not contributed
to this campaign to do so today. This is our club and we need your support
to complete these key projects. Ever dollar will bring us closer to our goal.
Thank you again for those who have already contributed.
Please remember that the Irish American Community Center, Inc. is

our field to the minimum Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) requirements.
