Peachtree Road
United Methodist Church
January 25, 2015
Third Sunday After the Epiphany
The Season after the Epiphany is the season of Ordinary Time, which includes four
to nine Sundays, depending on the date of Easter. It is ordinary in that it stands
between the two great christological cycles of Advent-Christmas-Epiphany and LentEaster-Pentecost and has no central theme. Paraments, stoles, and banners may show
a variety of color, texture, and symbols in Ordinary Time.

Invocation*
Affirmation of Faith*
The Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ
his only Son our Lord: who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin
Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; the third day he
rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the
Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe
in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness
of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
Gloria Patri* Charles Meineke
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the
beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Ministry of Music (11:15 am) Grant, O God, Your Blessing Michael Bedford
(b. 1949)
Grant, O God, your blessing on us as we pray; Grant, O God, your blessing on us all
this day. Just as Jesus prayed to you in the wildnerness, let us pray every day; hear, O
Lord, and bless. For the things that we do wrong, please, O God, forgive. Help us all
great and small, live as Jesus lived. Amen.
The Carol Choir

Christ, whose glory fills the skies
Malcolm Archer
(b. 1952)
Christ, whose glory fills the skies, Christ, the true, the only light. Sun of righteousness,
arise, triumph o’er the shades of night. Dayspring from on high, be near, daystar in
my heart appear. Dark and cheerless is the morn unaccompanied by thee. Joyless
is the day’s return, till thy mercy beams I see. Till thy inward light impart, glad my
eyes, and warm my heart. Visit then this soul of mine, pierce the gloom of sin and
grief. Fill me, radiancy divine, scatter all my unbelief. More and more thyself display,
shining to the perfect day. Christ, whose glory fills the skies, Christ, the true, the only
light. Sun of righteousness arise, triumph o’er the shades of night. Dayspring from on
high, be near. Daystar in my heart appear. Amen.
