Other Activities
While the focus for the retreat will be centred on the healing power of yoga, you will also
have the opportunity to experience Balinese culture as Alam Sari is located close to the
villages of Bali, and works closely with the Balinese people. The retreat is surrounded
by beautiful rice paddies in a quiet and peaceful environment yet very close to shops,
fabulous restaurants, affordable day spas, galleries and temples to visit in your free
time. Do as little or as much as you like!
Area surrounding Alam Sari Resort
The cool weather in the hills is perfect for nature walks through the nearby rice terraces
or you can join activities in nearby Keliki Village, visit further afield to one of Bali’s holy
sites, and of course shop in and around the town of Ubud as well as Tegallalung, one of
the largest handicraft centres in the world.
Keliki Village is just walking distance away from the resort. It is known as an artists’
colony, and home to a small group of exceptional artists who for many years specialized
in painting incredible miniature paintings in the classic traditional Ubud style. These
magnificent little gems, often no larger than 16 by 12 cm, present details and fine
coloring that defy understanding how they are possible. Because it’s not to be found in
any tourist guides, nor does it even appear in most tourist maps, Keliki remains one of
those classic Balinese villages with very little western influence.
Tegalalung is one of the largest handicraft centres in the world. It is located 10 minutes
drive from Alam Sari resort on the north-south road from Kintamani and Ubud. Driving
along this stretch you will have no doubt you are in Tegalalang because of the
abundance in wooden carvings and ceramics that are displayed 20 km along the road.
The village of Tegalalang specializes in carved fish, birds, trees and other designs that
are painted in bright colors. A visitor might also check out the selection of wall-panels,
furniture, antique-style doors and topeng masks.
Ubud township(15 mins drive north of Alam Sari) is famous as the artistic and cultural
heart of Bali. There are many art museums to visit with traditional and modern paintings.
The Ubud people are warm and friendly and many local Balinese are painters, dancers,
musicians and carvers.
Tirta Empul Temple or Tampak Siring Temple is a holy spring water temple located in
Tampak Siring Village, Gianyar regency and it is about 20 km from Alam Sari.
Kintamani, only 35 minutes from Alam Sari, is one of the most favorite tourist
destinations in Bali with the active volcano of Mount Batur and a beautiful
lake. Kintamani is surrounded by captivating nature and there are six ancient villages
around the cauldron of Batur Lake.
Our yoga retreats attract many people traveling alone which creates a nice camaraderie
with others during the week. Regular practice of yoga and meditation strengthens the
mind and body to create an inner harmony. Daily spiritual intention naturally takes us to
a deeper place within ourselves and brings more meaning into our daily lives. But
perhaps the biggest part of attending a yoga health retreat is simply changing your daily
habits. By temporarily pulling yourself back from your social community, it also gives
you a chance to evaluate your life and bring on positive lifestyle changes……..
Yeyyyy, come join us! It will be
fun …………
