Indoor Soccer Rules League games consist of: Two 20 minute halves, with a 2 minute halftime. The clock does not stop during play for any reason. Games are started at their scheduled time regardless of whether teams are ready . Teams are set up as follows: U9, U10, U11, U12 U13, U14 High School 7 players plus keeper 6 players plus keeper 5 players plus keeper Game Balls will be provided by MSI. Sizes are as follows: U9 thru U12 U13 and up size 4 size 5 All players are required to wear shin guards. No jewelry may be worn. The team listed first on the schedule is the home team, and must change to an alternate jersey/pinney if there is a color conflict. A team may only have players participate that are registered on their roster. All rosters must be handed in to league administration before the start of your first game. If you must add a player to the roster, you must speak to the league administration. Players may only be rostered on 1 team in a specific age group. You may have substitute players from a younger division team sub for your team on an as needed basis. A team must have the correct amount of players in order to start a game. If a team does not have enough players, the team may borrow a player from another team (with permission from the league administration and the opposing team’s coach). The game will result in a forfeit. If a team forfeits 2 games during the course of the season, they will be removed from the schedule and will not receive a refund. Substitutions are on the fly, the player leaving the field must be within 10 feet of the bench area before the new player may enter the field. Neither player may leave the field or enter the field through the flow of play. A ball completely crossing the line is out of play. Play is restarted with a throw in from the point where the ball left the field of play. Any ball hitting the ceiling results in a direct free kick for the opposing team. A ball which, within the sidelines of the field, contacts the wall behind the goal is deemed out of play, play will restart as either a corner kick or goal kick determined by the which player touched the ball last. On a corner kick the ball may be place inside the field as if a 3 foot arc were painted on the field, this allows for a proper approach to kick the ball All free kicks are direct kicks, and the player must be given 10 feet by the defender. Penalty kicks are taken from 10 yards out. Goalkeepers must follow outdoor rules for handling the ball. The keeper may not handle a ball directed to him, intentionally, by the foot of a teammate. When, in the course of the match, the keeper legally gains possession of the ball with their hands, they may punt, throw or drop-kick the ball, however, the ball cannot cross the mid-field line in the air, without hitting the floor or a player. Goal kicks cannot cross the mid-field line in the air, without hitting the floor or a player. There is no offside. Slide tackling is not permitted. Discipline above and beyond normal fouls is at the discretion of the referee and follow normal soccer guidelines. The referee may remove a player(s) from the field for a two (2) minute penalty for persistent infraction of the rules, use of foul language, etc. The team whose player received the yellow card will play short for two (2) minutes, if the opponent scores within the two minute penalty, the team returns to full strength. In the event that a team receives additional yellow card(s) while a two (2) minute penalty is being served. The player(s) receiving the yellow card will leave the field, the team will play short until the expiration of his or her two (2) minute penalty. Players or coaches may be ejected (red-carded) if the referee deems the offense to be severe enough in nature. The player(s) will leave the field and not return to the match. The team receiving the red card will play short for a five (5) minute penalty, the penalty will be served in full regardless how may goals the opponent scores. In the event that a team receives additional red card(s) while a five (5) minute penalty is being served. The player(s) receiving the red card will leave the field and not return to the match, the team will play short until the expiration of his or her five (5) minute penalty. Players or coaches who are red-carded may not participate in the next league game, and further sanctions may be applied depending on the severity of the offense. MapleZone Sports has a zero tolerance policy on physical and verbal abuse. Coaches are encouraged to avoid running up scores on opponents. Discuss a strategy for this with your players before things get out of hand. Playoff Rules Top 2 teams in each division will play for the championship. At the end of regulation time. Flip a coin to determine the opening tap. Set the clock for 5 minutes. Sudden victory applies; when a goal is scored the match is complete. If no goal is scored in the first overtime period, flip a coin to determine the opening tap for the second overtime period. No time is set on the clock. The teams remove their GOAL KEEPER. Start the overtime period with 1 LESS PLAYER than the division allows during the regular season. The OPENING KICKOFF OF THE SECOND OVERTIME PERIOD IS INDIRECT. Once play is started it continues until a goal is scored. In the event of a penalty shot being taken, the defending team may designate a goal keeper. If the goal keeper makes the save he/she is allow to distribute the ball into play and then play resumes without a goal keeper. If the initial penalty shot is saved by the goal keeper but rebounds back into play the keeper MAY NOT use their hands again. If they do it is another penalty shot (if the handling occurs within the goal keeper’s area), a yellow or red card may be given in this circumstance. Sudden victory applies; when a goal is scored the match is complete.
