Jordans School 1944-2014 26th March 2014 Dear Parents and Carers Welcome to Verity who started Class 1 last week. I am sure she will enjoy making new friends. 70th Anniversary Celebrations Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make Friday such a special day for the children. Their costumes were great and we enjoyed seeing them performing so well in the assembly and in the country dancing. I want to say a great big thank you to the mums who baked cakes and prepared the teas, put out chairs and helped me decorate the hall: Fiona Perrin, Julia Jackson, Kate Hempsall, Anne Bonandrini, Sarah Eio, Liza Edington, Jen Marshall, Tania Lawrence and many more. Thank you for the stage hands. I’m not sure who helped Phil put all the chairs and stage away but you were fab! Finally, we are indebted to the wonderful Bill Turnbull who really enjoyed meeting the children. We loved his ‘Rumba’ story. Easter Bonnets and Singing, Wednesday 2nd April This year we are having an Easter Parade and a Green Walk on Wednesday 2nd April. This tradition has always been a lovely way to prepare for Easter and for you to join us for a few songs and seasonal poems. I have spoken to the children about making a bonnet – we like to see their ideas and handiwork! On Wednesday, we will meet you by Copse Lane at 08.45, ready to ‘green walk’ into the playground for an Easter Parade. Following registration, the children will perform in the hall, at around 9.20 am. Universal Free Meals Class 1 and Class R A letter and questionnaire will be sent to parents of children in Class 1 and Class R, regarding the provision of universal free school meals, planned for September 2014. 1 We would appreciate all questionnaires being completed and sent to the office by Tuesday 1st April. Train Trip, 1st May Attached is a letter out about our train trip to Princes Risborough in May. This is a lovely opportunity for the children to go on the train with our favourite Chiltern Railwayman, Driver Dave. Easter Holidays – important dates School closes for the Easter holiday at 1pm on Friday 4th April. Easter falls quite late this year which means that the new term starts on Wednesday 23rd April. We have an inset day on 22nd April. Uniform Changes We are delighted to let you know that after Easter we are changing the way you can purchase school uniform. Attached is a letter explaining the changes and how you will be able to obtain uniform from the 22nd April. Community News Jordans and District Rotary Club RNLI The Jordans and District Rotary Club are raising money for the RNLI again this year. As they have helped us so much in the past, we would like to support their charity fundraising by having a collection in the run up to Easter. They will be delivering a collection box to the School next week, please feel free to contribute if you wish. Can you help? I, Jenny Owen, am also coordinating the collection week for The RNLI in the whole of Jordans Village and am asking for volunteer help to collect around the village in any roads of their choice even if just a few houses any help would be very greatly appreciated. Just give me a ring on 01494 677571. 2 "Roll Out The Barrel" The Jordans and District Rotary Club will also holding a charity Film Night in The Beaconsfield Film and Television School Cinema on Saturday 5th April, 7pm for 8pm start. Tickets are £16 to include film, glass of wine, canapés and a donation to the charity which is "Roll Out The Barrel."
