*Parents are invited to visit the Career Center during school hours for valuable
information on colleges, scholarships, career objectives, and more. (The Career
Center is located by the library).
*Beginning in August, Peer Tutoring will be offered three days a week. Tutoring will
begin immediately after school and last until 4:15 at the following locations on campus:
Monday's - Room I-36 sponsored by Beta Club, Tuesday's - Room I-35 sponsored by
Mu Alpha Theta, and Thursday's - Room J-47 sponsored by the
Student Council.

*ESF is offering free ACT Workshops at their Get-2-College Center in Ocean Springs.
The workshops include: overview of Mathematics, Science, English and Reading
sections, tips to achieve target scores and time-saving strategies, and resource books
and materials will be provided. Pre-registration is required and must be completed
online at www.get2college.org. Registration opens two weeks prior to each event. The
dates and times are as follows:

*Vanguard College of Cosmetology will be hosting a VIVID glimpse into a career as a
hairstylist event called Color Your Future! Students interested in pursuing a career in
working as a licensed Cosmetologist should attend this special event. It will held on
January 27th, 2015 from 3 PM – 5 PM in Slidell, LA. For more information, please

*Admissions Counselor Galina Pegues from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community
College will be in the Career Center during Channel 1 on Thursday, February 12th,
2015. She will be assisting seniors interested in attending J.D., Perk, or J.C. should
attend for important information about the admissions process, financial aid,
scholarship opportunities, and other requirements needed to attend MGCCC.
*The University of Alabama is now accepting applications from highly motivated
sophomores, juniors, and senior students to participate in their 2015 UA Early College
Program. Students can earn up to 30 hours of college credits. There will be two
sessions available: Session 1 – May 25th through June 25, 2015 and Session 2 – June
30 through July 31, 2015. To apply, visit www.//uaearlycollege.us.edu. Interested
students must register by February 27, 2015.
*The School of Music in the College of Music & Dramatic Arts at Louisiana State
University would like to announce their National Audition Weekend for prospective
students! The weekend of January 30-31, 2015 will be your chance to meet LSU
faculty, observe classes, rehearse with ensembles, and enjoy the Concert Spectacular
performance. Plan your visit to their campus and your audition by registering at

*Mississippi Governor ’ s School is designed to provide academic, creative and
leadership experiences for a select number of rising high school juniors and seniors
who have demonstrated exceptional ability and achievement in their studies and who
show high intellectual, creative, and leadership potential. Any sophomore or junior who
meets one of the following qualifications is eligible to apply: Top 10% of class, Gifted
Program, Composite of 25 or higher on the ACT. Selection index of 175 or above on
the PSAT, 1700 or above on the SAT. The three week session will be held on the MUW
Campus in Columbus, MS on May 31-June 19, 2015. For more information and to

*The Rural Medical Scholars Program is an exciting summer opportunity for
academically talented high school students between their junior and senior years.
Juniors interested in pursuing a career as a family medicine physician, will be given
the opportunity to take two pre-med courses (biology and sociology) and observe
doctors at practice throughout the program. The summer program will be held at
Mississippi State University and run for five weeks (May 31-July 6). To be eligible,
students must have a minimum ACT score of 24. Additional information and
applications are in the Career Center or online at www.RMS.msucares.com. All
applications and additional information must be returned to the Guidance Office by
March 4, 2015.
*Admissions Counselor Adrienne Gannon from The Mississippi State University will be
in the Career Center on Wednesday, March 18, 2015. She will be assisting prospective
students with admissions, scholarships, financial aid, housing, and approaching
deadlines. Please stop by the Career Center for more information.
*The University of Southern Mississippi is now taking applications for their Fall 2015
school term. Prospective students should apply early. Competitive scholarship
applications such as Leadership, Luckyday, and Presidential will be available by early
October.

*There is an exciting partnership between MMC Materials, Inc. and Holmes Community
College in Ridgeland, MS aimed at attracting 18 year old high school graduates to the
ready mix concrete industry. The Professional Concrete Mixer Truck Driver Training
Program at Holmes Community College offers a 6-8 week program. Graduates from
this program will receive the following:

Commercial Driver License
CPR/First Aid Certification
NRMCA’s Concrete Delivery Professional Certification

Learn customer service skills, quality assurance, proper safety technique,
the basics of concrete, and become OSHA 10-Hour certified.

*Attention Students: Are you interested in a Cosmetology Career? Vanguard College
of Cosmetology, a Paul Mitchell Partner School is accredited by the National
Accrediting Commission of Career Arts and Sciences and approved by the United
States Department of Education to offer federal financial aid to qualifying individuals to
assist with tuition costs. Vanguard College of Cosmetology is now accepting
applications for admission. They are located in Slidell, LA. For more information, please

*ACT is excited to offer “Free ACT Student Web Accounts”. All students are eligible
and encouraged to establish a free ACT student Web account, even if they choose to
register by mail. Students who have tested through national or state testing can
“Connect To” their previous records by providing their Social Security number or ACT
ID when they establish their accounts. Once an account is established, they will be
able to manage their records online, including options of viewing scores, requesting
ASRs, reviewing and updating their previous responses to the non-test sections for
another test date, requesting changes to their registrations, and receiving e-mail
reminders from ACT. Students will also be able to print their ACT admission Ticket.
There are no fees for viewing scores. To register for your Web account, visit

*The Mississippi Eminent Scholars Grant (MESG) - Mississippi offers several different
financial aid options to qualifying applicants. Created by the Mississippi Legislature,
these programs are designed to provide financial aid to Mississippi residents attending
state approved public and nonprofit two-year and four-year eligible colleges and
universities. Initial Eligibility Requirements Includes: 3.5 GPA, minimum of 29 on the
ACT, be enrolled and accepted as a full-time student at an approved postsecondary
institution in Mississippi. The application deadline is September 15 th of every year.
*The Mississippi Resident Tuition Assistance Grant (MTAG) - Mississippi offers several
different financial aid options to qualifying applicants. Created by the Mississippi
Legislature, these programs are designed to provide financial aid to Mississippi
residents attending state approved public and nonprofit two-year and four-year eligible
colleges and universities. Initial Eligibility Requirements Includes: 2.5 GPA, minimum
of 15 on the ACT, received less that the full Federal Pell Grant, be enrolled and
accepted as a full-time student at an approved postsecondary institution in Mississippi.
The application deadline is September 15th of every year.
*SENIORS - Now is the time to apply for college financial aid! The Mississippi Student
Financial Aid Programs are now available for entering college freshmen. Students can
obtain more information and apply online at www.riseupms.com. (Click on Entering
Freshman)
*Young men can now register with Selective Service using the Internet. The website is
http://www.sss.gov. Young men living in the U.S., with very few exceptions, are
required to register within 30 days of turning 18. Registration is Federal law. It is also
required to stay eligible for many Federal and state benefits, including student financial
aid, job training, and jobs in the Executive Branch of the Federal government, as well
as jobs with the U. S. Postal Service.
