Is this program for children?
Who should attend?
Should we come if we were
never married?
No. Adults attend Parenting Under Two Roofs© (PUTR) to learn more about how to best support children.
Any adult who is concerned about a child whose parents are separated or divorced. This class is designed to give
adults the tools necessary to help the child(ren) they care about.
Yes. This program can be helpful regardless of your marital status. From a child’s point of view, most of the
challenges of separation are the same whether parents were married or not.
Should I attend with my
child’s other parent?
No. We have found, after years of experience, that the program is much more useful if separating/divorcing
parents attend different sessions. You will find you have more freedom to speak up or ask questions important to
you. During registration, all possible precautions are taken to ensure that parents attend separate sessions.
We aren’t divorced yet,
should I still attend?
Or when should I attend?
The earlier in the process you attend, the more you and your children will benefit. A frequent comment from
participants is they wish they had attended the workshop earlier. Many participants who have been divorced for
years also find the program useful for offering tips on how to deal with their children’s changing development and
new situations that co-parents face. There is no point at which it is too late.
Why should I come?
Who are the presenters?
Can I attend in any of the
counties?
Can I attend one Thursday
class?
Are you part of the courts?
Is this mediation?

Children are affected tremendously by the actions that parents take before, during and after separation and during
the conflicts that may result. Equipped with information from the workshop, parents can take many proactive steps
to help their children, to shield them from conflict, and help them better adjust.
Each program is co-presented by an attorney and a mental health professional.
Yes. You do not have to attend in the county in which you reside in.
No. This is a four hour program. You will need to attend both Thursdays to complete the program.
No. We are separate from the courts and are a nonprofit agency. We provide a variety of parent education
programs.
No. This is separate from mediation. You will need to contact the court or your attorney for information about
mediation. Most clients find this course helpful in the mediation process when they have completed it prior to
mediation.
