Employment Forum accuses the Department of Health (Olga Masite) and says she is an irresponsible Manager who delayed providing the medications to the sick people. They further requested that the Department of Health take appropriate decisions. C linic staff head Prof. Modingwane said in his statement. “The shortage of medicine in the clinic started on the 15th December 2014. I say the residents must not blame us in the clinic, they must blame the management: led by Olga Masite .” said Modingwane. The person in charge and the institution are both responsible. Apart from that, the hard working unemployed residents and patients at Oukasie were tired of being told everytime that there are no medical supplies in the clinic (for 30 days now). On the 19th of January, they took to the streets, regrouped and went to the local clinic to air their grievances. Upon arrival of the sick and Residents marching towards the clinic. angry families and concerned comants were patients who regularly attend munity members, the security guards the clinic for prescribed medications. barred them from entering the clinic They told Madibeng Times that the clinic premises, but the strong reasoning over- is too small to serve the area and they powered the guards and later helped want the nurses working hours to be the concerned citizens to enter the extended to a 24 hour shift. He was amazed to be told that there was no insulin in the clinic (and many patients found themselves in the same predicament). Pastor Raymond Manganye told the Madibeng Times that he is suffering from epilepsy and he is blaming the clinic for the suspension of his disability grant by the SASSA Department. He further said that every time he goes to SASSA he is told to go back to Oukasie clinic, and in the clinic they are not taking his medical condition seriously. “I also have emphysema problem and I cannot do heavy duties, I get tired very quickly even at home they know my problem.” said Pastor Manganye. Bonang Magret Letshwiti said that she has a mental illness problem and that she sometimes goes to Rustenburg clinic for her treatment. I went to Brits Hospital and they referred me back to the clinic, I went back to the clinic I found Josia who works at the filing department and she harassed and insulted me.”(a mentally instable person needs meds all the time to stay normal) “I was advised to open a case against her, but I told myself that let God deal with her and fight my battle. I ended up buying those tablets from a chemist in town with the money I receive from the social grants. I plead with nurses to treat us well like human beings because it is not our will to get sick.” said frustrated Bonang. Employment Forum spokesman Johannes Modisakeng told Madibeng Times that the forum and the community will not rest until the clinic becomes a place for patients. “This is a place for sick people not a gambling saloon to gamble with the lives of the sick and vulnerable.” “These unprofessional nurses come here in our clinic to make money, I am quite sure… that they do not have to care for us; if there is no medical supplies then they must go home, why work?” “I am sending this message to the Department of Health, those workers at the clinic are not fit to work and the government must hire professional workers who will co-operate with patients and care for the people and our loved ones. If the matter is not addressed amicably, we will make our cross in next municipal elections at the crossroads and burn the A.N.C (we do not want promises); who is Olga Masite, I want to meet with this person so that she can tell me why she wants to kill us when she is not supplying medication?” “The sick go to the clinic from early in the morning at around 1am and have to book Thabazimbi road needs serious attention Thabazimbi road known as a killer road for its many motor vehicle accidents need immediate intervention by the Provincial Government. And in another incident a driver of a light motor vehicle lost control of his car and the car hit the side of the road. According to some of the motorists who use the road on a daily basis, the road is too narrow and needs to be restructured and extended by at least five metres on either side to easily cater for both the light and heavy vehicles using the road regularly. Addressing the public is the Employment Forum CEO Johannes Modisakeng (wearing black shirt). pect them to wait for you while you are asleep and when you arrive you decide to cut the line; typical of the individuals that have no heart for the suffering and the old.”(let God deal with them) “These ways must come to an end and as the Employment Forum we want care for the sick. We also want them to hire people from our area to work in the clinic; we have qualified nurses and people who can work at the clinic. Why does it always have to be people from the outside?” said the spokesman Modisakeng. Angry residents let themselves in the clinic premises. for spaces so that when the clinic opens they be the first. Criminals! Watch this space, we have a new man in town and there is no place to hide. Well done once again Brigadier Marx. Now the question remains as to who should clean up the outside area, is it the municipality or volunteers? A formed vanguard ‘Taxi Association’ at the above mentioned areas proved to be the most trustworthy association with integrity and capability to become the leading transport mode in the areas. They work tirelessly and ensure that the public and the passengers receive proper care. Especially to those passengers who cannot afford to go to the nearest taxi ranks and have to wait on the side of the road for floating taxis to come and pick them up. The association patrols and guards against motorists who intend to offer those passengers a lift and stop them from doing so. Madibeng Times managed to speak to one of the Taxi Association members who reiterated this fact and said their mission to escort taxis and passengers is another way of showing the passengers that they do care for them. “We have received a number of reports and complaints in our office about the brutality of people offering lifts to our passengers. We do not want our passengers to be kidnapped, killed, raped, or go missing due to a lift.” “Which is why today we deny motorists waiting on the sides Brits Family Violence Protection, Child Protection and Sexual Offence (FCS) station conditions look better. of the road for for the purpose of offering lifts. When such incidents occur we act immediately and stop the vehicle and we arrest the driver for offering a lift illegally. Every taxi has got a permit to carry passengers.” A permit to carry passengers automatically helps in terms of accidents. In the event of accidents, passengers including the driver of the taxi will be compensated by the road accident fund for funerals and injuries. It simply means that they are all insured for any possible accidents. The association further said, “We urge members of the public not to accept any kind of lifts from any strangers trying to offer, and or rather walk to the taxi rank or wait for the taxi to come and pick you up. We understand that people are trying to make money out of it, but it is illegal.” concluded the association member. He further said that this is not about the money the passengers pay to those motorists, it is about the safety of the passengers and to also control the transport industry to become a better and profound travel industry for passengers. Brothels and drug selling are no longer hidden in Brits, the culprits are performing their dirty works in public and in the eyes of everyone. A s confident as they are, they feel that they are more needed than ever especially in places such as taverns and bottle stores. They claim to be professionals, it is alleged that they have also studied the brain of a human being and concluded that once you try both of them (prostitution and drugs) there is no turning back, you become addicted. In terms of brothel, young girls and young boys sell their bodies for a living. According to a source close to the workers, they do not call a customer, a customer approaches them. It is like proposing a girl, when you come across a beautiful girl and start proposing and it depends on whether the girl will agree with your advances or not. Once the two connect, the conversation immediately turns into a romantic hullabaloo and later an exchange of money follows if that’s the agreement. The prostitution and drug hot spot has been spotted at cnr. De witts & Reitz streets in Brits where both prostitution and drug smuggling take place. Neighbouring businesses and tenants have since been complaining about the actions to the authorities who failed to act to the best People in this area are concerned and complains about the whereabouts going on. and the sympathy disappeared.” “We fought until the morning at around 4 am because I wanted him to tell me exactly what happened. Or, I forgot to tell you that it was pay day and he withdrew money from the ATM at that time. He later confessed and said Ok!” “(his words) I parked my car at (street) and got into a tavern nearby to buy something to drink and I was confron-ted by two ladies who pretended to be so kind and only God knows what they were up to. He kept mumbling saying ‘that they offered me’ but did not want to say what they offered him.” “He said they took him to a private place and hit him with a stick on his private parts until he bled and they took his money, clothes and cellphones. They did not know that he has a car. My advise to you man out there, those people are dangerous, they can ruin your life and destroy it, stay away from them and concentrate on your family.” said the anonymous of their abilities. Somebody must take accountability for all the actions and try and solve the problem before it gets out of hand. Madibeng Times spoke to a passerby who remains anonymous and said: “I want the law to take its course about this people who stand next to the road and sell their bodies. They abuse our husbands and rob them of their money when coming from work.” “My husband works in a mine somewhere in Brits. One day he came home at midnight wearing only an underwear. When I asked what happened to him, he told me that he was robbed by two men at gun point, and I was like ‘thank God they did not steal his car or take his life.’” “Well, as a wife I wanted to do thorough inspections but he would not allow me to inspect his lower parts or to see under the underwear. I then insisted to check, never mind what I discovered. I then turned against him passerby. No response was given by the police regarding this question. T his is a total waste of money and state resources. The Local Municipality of Madibeng has got more than five recreational parks situated in the Brits CBD, some receive proper maintenance while others are left out as a jungle and without proper services. Many recreational parks are without playing equipments while others have broken and dangerous playing equipments for kids. The question remains as to where is the money for all the maintenance and buying of new equipments gone to? Is it paying other debts in the municipality, or is somebody using it for his/ her personal interests? Of course not! Every now and then, the budget is read by the Municipal Manager, a budget that can do the entire work, but later the money disappears. Or maybe is it because the money written on the paper or presented in figures in the council meetings is the money suggested by the council for the municipality to have for that year? I think the municipality should come up with a strategic way on how to unfold the budget to the public, because reading it in figures is not helping at all. They are present- ing the money that is not there and the public assumes the money is there in the municipal coffers. It is like the council is having a meeting on how they can apply for a loan, a loan that will help to clean up the recreational parks in Brits and there are slight chances of a loan decline, it is not an actual thing or guaranteed. I think now is the time for the municipality to teach us as media on how they spend their money and how they draft their budget, because we do not know and we cannot tell the public. By doing so it will erase allegations and accusations that are continuously pointing to councillors and officials stealing money in the council. Maybe the councillors and the officials are not stealing the municipal funds, the municipality does not receive any budget from the treasury, they have been requesting money for services since democracy. It is not a joke, the municipality is failing its communities dismally and it seems no one has got answers to all the dilemmas facing the council. To leave the parks and other government institutions with long grasses and thorns means incompetence and this habit is growing rapidly. A simple example can solve the mystery; one rotten apple in one bag, you know how it works, it spoils the entire bag. Let the year 2015 bring the changes in the municipality and the council to complete all the uncompleted kickbacks and projects such as fixing of potholes in all the roads and completing the RDP houses promised to residents. Another recreational park in a horrible state situated in Spoorweg street at the Brits CBD. Of course restructuring of the police force has already taken place and we are applauding and expecting to see more from our Station Commander Brigadier Johan Marx. We want to see all the dilapidated community halls fixed as promised and high mast lights installed in some places to reduce crimes. Bucket systems removed in some parts of the community of Madibeng. I know that the municipality through their IDP meetings have identified all the priority areas and after an alleged loan is approved they will deal with the burning issues. L ocal Municipality of Madibeng has once again experienced an illegal job scam which was reported by the security guards after discovering that there were members of the public claiming to have been accepted for job placement as cleaners by a certain man who said he was one of the managers in the council. It is alleged that upon arrival at the council, the victims told the security guards that they paid money into someone’s account and now they came to report for duty. The security guards then alerted the authorities who took the matter seriously. The municipality must be aware that people are desperately in need of work. In that case, the job-seekers will do whatever it takes to find jobs for themselves. It is advisable that in order for the municipality to avoid such incidents from happening, the municipality must start creating jobs that will be provided to the public so that no member of the public would become desperately in need of a job and end up paying individuals for job placements. In addition, members of the public are further advised not to pay money to any strangers or make any money transfer without a clear verification and the full knowledge of where the money is transferred to. KRISHNA KRISHNA Hi Dave, my very concern is the tavern situated in Letlhabile Block B, the tavern is making lot of money and at the same time is making lot of noise to the public and recruit young kids to be party animals. -We reported the matter to the authorities in the council of Madibeng and even the previous Mayors and the current one knows about the issue. But they are not acting because the owner is a powerful businessman who also gets kickbacks from the council of Madibeng. -I also suspect that the owner of the tavern or rather the tenant because he does not own the place is not paying his bills and the municipality is well aware of the situation. Our kids are being exposed to dangerous environment and no one is willing to help. -If the person is a tenant, what happened to the landlord. If I were to say something private I would say shame on you old man you have been tricked and you will stay in Rabokala for the rest of your life. Please Madibeng Times investigate in the matter and let us expose this dirty work and the people behind it. # Concerned member at Letlhabile. -I am concerned about the use of police vehicles in Brits SAPS. You find that over 50 vehicles on daily use and only 3 are available to service the vast population of Brits including the farmlands and more than 30 vehicles sleep over at various officers homes and are used for personal reasons over weekends. -Some police officers have the luxury of using this vehicles for transportation between work and home while others have to use taxis day and night. # Unknown -I like the fact that you raised the issue of the gates at the council of Madibeng. David, you will never win this battle of service delivery in the council but I like the fact that you are truly exposing them. Madibeng Municipality officials have this tendency of employing illiterate workers of which some of them do not take matters seriously. -I mean, how important is installing the expensive gates in front of the council when we have a serious challenge of service delivery. Instead, why didn't they invest the money on important aspects such as buying hecteres of lands for communities or do some relevant things with the money. -I believe that last year more than five councillors resigned and others relocated to other positions. Others were moved to other posts by their seniors to cover their personal interests. My question is, how many will be chopped this year? # Sabelo Phakathi. -David, you spoke about 'Let every 1c count' in your publication on page 3. This incident has been going on for years where the price is changed with a 5 cent and less change and fail to issue back such change. -I believe this is far beyond us as consumers because at some point when requesting the change, the cashier will tell you how broke you are and what will you do with a 1 cent. I think the Consumer Affairs in Brits must start acting and make sure that the retailers live up to their standards. -So that what you see becomes what you pay applies in all retail stores. Or rather leave all the pricing in full range digit. # Phakamile Magabane. A media release which was sent on the 12th November 2014 about illegal Job Scam Operation in Madibeng reads; The municipality has been alerted of an illegal job scam operating in the Municipal jurisdiction which affects the institution negatively. A certain unknown member of the public operating under the name “ John Martins” and portrays himself to be a Manager at the Madibeng Local Municipality is selling jobs to community members. His modus operandi is to use the advertisements in the local newspapers where people seek employment and then request them to do a money transfer where after they will be guaranteed employment at the Municipality. The Security staff in the municipality have currently seen three people who reported to have paid the money to this ‘John Martins’ and came searching for him to be appointed as Cleaners. The Public Safety and Security Division has assisted the victims of this illegal scam to the Brits SAPS to open a case of Fraud. The municipality would like to urge our communities to never give anyone money for a job because it is illegal and against the Constitution of the country. The municipality will also do an internal investigation on this matter to get the culprit that is using the name of the municipality to commit fraud. Madibeng Times took on a head to head interview with the White Door Safe House Ambassador Pastor Margaret Kanyane. hours, but due to different circumstances, clients stay for longer than one week. MT: Ok, the Safe House was officially launched by the Deputy Minister for Social Development Ms. Hendrietta Bogopane-Zulu. Are there any chances that there might be any Safe House in the North West particularly in Madibeng operating the same as yours.? MK: As far as I know, there is only one White Door in North West Province and the only Ambassador is Pastor Margaret Kanyane from Mmakau in Madibeng. MT: But there are rumours spreading that there is another White Door Safe Place in Madibeng, are you aware of that? MK: Of course I am aware, I want to say this, it seems as if the North West Province is not aware that there is only one White Door. There are allegations that a certain woman appeared in a particular local paper in Madibeng claiming to be the owner of White Door Safe Place. So I want to clarify that, I am the only Ambassador of White Door Safe House in North West. MT: How disappointed are you after finding that someone is trying to steal your passion? MK: I am not disappointed, but there are some community members who were disappointed and asking me many questions about this issue, because this woman is talking more about her White Door. MT: Tell me, are there any opportunities that this woman might score by being the Ambassador? MK: My main concern is that she Madibeng Times: Good Afternoon Pastor. Margaret Kanyane: Afternoon. MT: I believe you are the Ambassador for the White Door Safe House in North West Province particularly at Mmakau area? MK: Of course I am the Ambassador for the White Door Safe House in North West, apparently, the only Ambassador in the North West. MT: Oh! The only Ambassador in the North West, I like that. Please tell us more about the White Door Safe House. MK: White Door Safe House is a safe place for people who are victims of abuse. MT: And how do you accommodate those victims? MK: The place accommodates the clients for the maximum period of 48 claims to be the Ambassador and she might use the status to her advantage and ask for donations and so many things which I don’t have today. MT: Is the government aware of the situation? MK: Since the Safe House was opened on the 26th of November last year, no official from the government has come to assess the progress. Only my co-ordinator from Madibeng Service Point Ms. Rachel Lekgotlwane has been working hand in hand with us. MT: Are you complaining or blaming somebody for that? MK: No, I am not complaining or blaming anybody, it is still early days and I want to give them time. MT: The staff that works for the Safe House, are they from certain organizations perhaps? MK: The staff are from Loago La Rona Domestic Violence in Mmakau and receive stipend from the Extended Public Works Programme (EPWP) every month. MT: Since the launch, where do you mostly receive your clients? MK: We get clients from places such as Jericho, Klipgat and Mmakau so far. MT: Stakeholders that you are working with, tell us your working relationship. MK: We have a good relationship with Mmakau SAPS and Mmakau Clinic. Every time we need them they respond very quickly. MT: It looks like the Safe House is doing fine and there are no problems. MK: Shoo! We are struggling a lot! we do not have finance and food, the White Door Ambassador Pastor Margaret Kanyane opening door for the victims. food parcels that we received from the government are now finished. So now we are digging up from our pockets to see to it that our clients receive food and proper care. MT: Any chances of finding any assistance? MK: I am pleading to the business owners of Madibeng to come forth and give us any kind of assistance. We highly appreciate any means of donations, remember, beggars are not choosers. MT: Thanks for chatting to us and I hope you find a way to resolve all your problems and continue helping the nation. MK: God is good and all the time God is good. We will overcome all of these. The abuses are being done to children between the ages of 15 and 5 years by their biological, adoptive and or foster parents. U nder no circumstances should these defenseless children be allowed to undergo such abuse whereby they are expected to perform tasks that would interfere with their education, physical and mental well-being. Some are not even attending school. While others are being brutally assaulted for no apparent reasons on a daily basis. It is important that all professionals who deal with children and young people are made aware of the situation so that they can amicably resolve them and ensure those victims remain safe. Clearly, schools should play an important part in this regard, because they work closely with other agencies who have the authority to intervene. It has to be remembered that schools are not “social services” or “the police”. But they can easily identify children in their schools who are being abused by observing their school performances. In that instance, it is also very important for family members and neighbours to ensure that they apply necessary measures when an abuse is taking place by contacting the relevant department to Farm borehole machine troubling the community intervene and arrest the perpetrator. The South African Constitution says every person under the age of 18 has the right not to do work that would interfere with their well-being, education, physical or mental health or spiritual, moral or social development. It further states that on the rights of children (section 28) of the constitution, children are to be protected from maltreatment, neglect, abuse or degradation. The purpose of this section is primarily to protect children in situations where they are particularly vulnerable. The right to family care includes the right to be cared for by the extended family and the right to alternative care includes the right to adoptive or foster care and the right to be cared for by the state where the child concerned is in need of care. The water machine was installed in August 2014 at Fufutsane farm in Mmakau village near Mothutlung by the Local Municipality of Madibeng. The farm used to belong to a farmer who used to farm tomatoes in the 1980’s. D uring August 2014 when the farmer departed, he left four boreholes behind and took only the machinery to run the boreholes with him. At the time of drought in Mmakau, the Local Municipality of Madibeng thought of utilizing the boreholes and installed their own machinery for the The best interest of a child is the most important concern when it comes to any matter affecting them. These include matters such as custody of and access to children. Section 28 makes special reference to the rights of children in addition to the rest of the rights, except where the constitution has specifically limited the right to adults, such as the right to vote. A borehole at Fufutsane farm in Mmakau allegedly causing residents a terrible stomach disorder. Aid for flood stricken Malawi and Mozambique Mahikeng Ministers Fellowship(MMF) has appealed for prayers and humanitarian aid for victims of the flooding that has claimed more than 200 lives and displaced over hundreds of thousand others in neighbouring Malawi and Mozambique. “ This is a time for camaraderie, compassion and unity. We call on the church, the business sector and individuals to support efforts to curb potential spread of water borne diseases and starvation of those displaced by the catastrophe.” said Chairperson of MMF(an interdenominational pastors fellowship), Apostle Zandisile Reginald Mpame. Mpame said that while MMF has noted the deployment of South African National Defence Force troops comprising members of the South African Air Force with helicopters navy divers and medical personnel to Mozambique and Doctors Without Borders in Malawi to assist in disaster management, relief efforts might be constrained by inadequate resources. Malawian Vice President Saulos Chilima on Friday confirmed that 176 people were killed and an estimated 200, 000 others were displaced by flooding in his country. “Thousands of homes had been destroyed, hundreds of hectares of crops submerged and livestock had been washed away.” said Vice President Chilima during press conference. Mahikeng Ministers Fellowship Spokesperson Pastor Lesiba Kgwele emphasized that the Vice President added that dozens of people are missing in Malawi, entire Mmakau to receive water. After the machines were installed, residents complained from running stomach until they realized that the problem was caused by the borehole. To date the water problem was not fixed and some other parts of the area are without a single drop of water. Businesses depending on water had ceased operation because of lack of water in the area. At the time of going to the press, there was no response from the municipality regarding the water problem in Mmakau. Cybernet Free Internet with at least 153 unaccounted for in the worst affected southern parts of the country. Homes and schools were also left submerged in water and roads washed away by the deluge. Downriver in neighboring Mozambique, flood-waters have left at least 38 dead, according to Mozambican news agency AIM, displaced tens of thousands and damaged the main road linking the north and south of the country. In terms of the partnership, SA Red Cross donation boxes will be placed at Checkers (Mafikeng Mall), Pick n Pay (The Crossing Shopping Centre), and Spar (Mafikeng Plaza) as from Wednesday until Monday 2 February for those that wish to respond to the plight of flood victims to deposit blankets, bottled water, clothing, plastic wrapped foodstuffs like beans, soup and canned food to aid those affected by the catastrophe. Come & Enjoy How may I help you...... Churches and businesses could also drop their donations at the SA Red Cross Offices located on 23 corner Carney and Nelson Mandela Drive during working hours. In calling for camaraderie, compassion and unity earlier, Chairperson of MMF, Apostle Zandisile Reginald Mpame had expressed the interdenominational pastors fellowship’s concern that aid for flood victims might be constrained by inadequate resources. “Urgent humanitarian aid is required for search and rescue operations that are looking for the 153 people accounted for and the hundreds of thousands of those displaced in the worst affected southern parts of the country .” said Apostle Mpame. • FAXING FROM • COPIES • LETTERHEADS • TYPING • CERTIFICATES • POSTER DESIGN • I.D PHOTOS • LOGO DESIGN • BUSINESS CARDS • FLYERS A6 (1000) 10 R3.60 R1.00 R45.00 YOU CAN R15/pp REACH THE SKY...... T Brits, a no safe place for mentally ill patients? the community hall.” “I am an artist, together with my friends we kept quiet about this issue for a long time, I think now is the time we tell those caretakers what they need to know. I think the reason why Oukasie is undeveloped is because of such people. When you are given permission to utilize the hall they will treat you like a useless thing and give you tons of invalid rules of which some are created by them.” There has been numerous reports by members of the public that the number of mentally ill people in Brits is increasing rapidly. It is further alleged that the government is only relying on the existing NGOs and NPOs to shelter those people. he subject of the community hall’s state of disrepair is in line with poor service delivery in the area. The matter has repeatedly been reported and has also been raised in community meetings but no action has been taken to-date. It is very disturbing to hear that there are some community members who are still opposing the efforts of providing service delivery by concerned members of the community. This came Front entrance of the community hall wrapped with danger after one trusted tape allegedly waiting for the official opening by the Mayor. member of the community who also works as a care“I am sorry, but they are control freaks, taker in the community hall deprived I was present when one of them dethe media access to taking pictures in prived the medias access to take picthe vicinity of the community hall. tures, shame. He (artist) further alluded to the fact that the caretakers are even annoying and control too much. Yet the property is torn apart and anytime it can collapse and fall on them while busy chatting inside. “I wonder if any of those caretakers have got a big house the same size as B rits being the area with the most mentally ill people has now turned into an area with no hope. The mentally ill people are very physically strong, they assault pedestrians and community members in their communities. They also destroy business properties and parked motor vehicles deliberately. How they rest? Some sleep in abandoned buildings in town while others create for themselves plastic and cardboard box shelters. There should be something that the government can do to make better their conditions. This is unacceptable and also challenges the effectiveness of the ruling government. Many questions arose from the actions as to who should take responsibility to make sure that those people receive a better environment and that the public is safe from their violent actions. The area has approximately fifty or more mentally ill people and above hundred homeless people. It has been told that during the day, those mentally ill people abuse their health state and as physically strong as they are, they turn violent and unstoppable. They literally assault whoever comes their way. Knowing the fact of their health state and that they are human beings, it is very difficult for those victims to retaliate. Others have turned into being traffic controllers controlling the motorists on stop streets and robot intersection for almost everyday, sometimes causing accidents. No doubt, I feel the pains their families are going through, it is very painful to witness a family member living in such a condition and knowing you hardly can assist. For their survival, they pick the leftovers from the dustbins around Brits and sometimes they even rob members of the public of their money and belongings to buy food, alcohol, drugs and even glue to smoke. A bystander told Madibeng Times that last year (2014) and this year (2015) she witnessed a very disturbing ordeal done by two powerful men who are both mentally disturbed. One incident took place in Brits and the other one happened in because they deny the opportunities to the vulnerable youth who are good in Art and Culture activities. I think the concerned members must also look into the matter and call those caretakers to order.” said a concerned member. The depriving of photographers and journalists access to take photos within the hall area by the caretaker took place on the 19th of January 2015 during the march to Oukasie clinic by community members demonstrating about the issue of lack of medication. A passionate craft man seeking a lift up A man with many talents Harry ‘Ramaponi’ Lengwasa (40) of Ramolapong section in Mmakau was born on the 7th of February 1975 with a passion for drawing pictures and crafting beautiful side lamps out of tree stems, woods and roots that he sometimes cut from the mountain nearby. My main challenge is to buy work materials because the money I earn from selling one item is not enough to sustain me.” “My vision is to grow my business and pass on my talent to the kids at school so that they may acquire more knowledge on how to draw and do crafting and also to know how important art is.” said Ramaponi. “ For assistance and if you have anything to share with Ramaponi, he can be contacted on 0793681572. Art is my life, I started the business in 1996 and my brother Silas Lengwasa joined me and motivated me to do more and also encouraged me to stay strong during difficult times. 12 Oukasie just outside Brits town.“I was walking towards a certain clothing shop in Brits when I saw a heavily built man half naked walking past me very fast. Suddenly, the giant man returned and I was so scared thinking that the man is going to attack me. He passed me once more and ran towards the heavy rock that was lying on the ground.” “He picked up the rock ran again towards a parked car and smashed the front window of the car and walked away. We were all shocked and did not know what to do at that time. No one thought of catching him because we all know him and we see him everyday.” “What happened later? We called the police and on their arrival, they said to us the man is just a mad man so there is nothing they can do about the matter. They asked whether the car owner has got insurance, the car owner was not insured and nothing could be done.” said Thabiso Phakade. Mr. Phakade explained once more about the incident in Oukasie when he was standing next to a certain church before a speeding man entered the church premises and caused a drama. “I was right next to the church on the wrong spot at the right time.” ”A young man half naked, about 20 years of age came running and suddenly entered the church uninvited during the church sermon. He then screamed for help and when one of the church members attempted to assist him, he removed his belt and hit the car that was parked in the yard of the church with the belt and broke the window of that car.” “I do not know when is our government going to open their eyes and take serious action before a life of someone is taken. I believe that if programmes that deal with these people can be funded and facilities be built to accommodate these people them our area would become safer.” he concluded. Bakgatla Ba Mmakau have been asking for assistance from The Department of Sports and Recreation and the Local Municipality of Madibeng since 2012, to help the school with their sports ground. Day 1 Results GROUP A The opening match was played at Mothutlung Sports ground on the 17th of January (Saturday evening). African Ball Controllers (ABC) had started their match on a slow pace during the 1st and 2nd half and the Matsatsantsa team were all over them. T he ground has no sports facilities such as soccer poles, netball courts and their poles and other facilities. It only has long grass, thorns and a place where criminals and drug users can hide themselves. and they will be facing Super Stars on the 1st of February. On the other side, Super Stars were awarded 3 points after Hustlers were disqualified from the Tournament. SUPER STARS 0-0 HUSTLERS (Super Stars awarded free 3 points and qualified for the next round) I n sports they say the most dominating club is the losing side, what is important is what is written on the score board. Matsatsantsa wasted too many goal scoring opportunities and were punished for that. After the break, the team owner and coach Esther Moerane never ceased smiling after her team responded well. The ABC defense was strong and solid at the back and the attacking strikers increased their pace. The score ended up, ABC slaughtering Matsatsantsa by 16 goals to 6. A Player of the day goes to a defender Gideon Mumba who was astonished. He used all his tactical skills to deny his opponents (Matsatsantsa) a win. While in the front Okney Mogashoa gave a magnificent performance and scored many goals and sealed 3 points for her team. All that was left was for Matsatsantsa to go back to the drawing board and review their blunder. ABC have gone through to the next round The sports ground covered with thorns DOORNPLAAT MEAT MARKET @ Abattoir (Brits Abattoir), 1 Bonsmara Street, Brits, 0250 TEL 087 150 7699, CELL: 082 446 1280, 082 651 3401 Quality Meat, Fresh From The Abattoir “WONDERFUL WEDNESDAYS & SUPER SATURDAYS” BEEF SHORT RIB R37.99/KG CLASSIC BOEREWORS R54.99/KG WHOLE RUMP R82.99/KG WHOLE SIRLOIN R82.99/KG T-BONE R75.99/KG LEAN BEEF MINCE R47.99/KG OXTAIL R82.99/KG WEDNESDAYS & SATURDAYS ONLY WHILE STOCK LAST “SIZZLING STEW SPECIAL” MONDAYS & THURSDAYS A-GRADE BEEF STEW R37.99 /kg y l n o 16 TRADING HOURS Mon - Fri: 07:30 - 17:30 Sat & Public Holidays: 07:30 - 15:00 Sundays Closed VISIT US FOR ALL YOUR FUNERAL UNVEILING AND WEDDING FUNCTION BULK MEAT REQUIREMENTS A-GRADE BEEF FOREQUARTER A-GRADE BEEF HINDQUARTER WHOLE PORK BEEF SHORTRIB BEEF STEW BEEF CHUCK BEEF BRISKET WHOLE RUMP WHOLE SIRLOIN LEAN BEEF MINCE WHOLE SILVERSIDE WHOLE TOPSIDE OXTAIL T-BONE PICKLED OX TONGUE CLASSIC BOEREWORS CLEAN COWHEELS CHICKEN DRUMSTICKS CHICKEN LEG QUARTERS CLEAN BONES COWHEEL OFF CUTS MEATY BONES AFAL MIX 10kg R49.99 p/kg R49.99 p/kg R44.00 p/kg R39.99 p/kg R39.99 p/kg R59.99 p/kg R59.99 p/kg R89.99 p/kg R89.99 p/kg R49.99 p/kg R64.99 p/kg R64.99 p/kg R84.99 p/kg R79.99 p/kg R54.99 p/kg R59.99 p/kg R14.99 p/kg R29.99 p/kg R27.99 p/kg R2.00 p/kg R2.00 p/kg R12.50 p/kg R150.00 PLEASE ASK OUR FRIENDLY STAFF TO ASSIST YOU Tel: 012 250 1920 Advertising: Elna Hartzenberg Email: [email protected] Editor: Russel De Beer Email: [email protected] Printed by Paarlcoldset 29 January 2015
