This is just Too Cute

This is just Too Cute
It is not how old you are, but how you are old.

A MINISTRY OF MIDDLE AND SENIOR ADULTS
February, 2014
A little girl ran to her Grandfather, jumped
Into his arms and gave him a great big hug.
Then she ran her fingers along his balding head and
down the side of his wrinkled face.
“Did God make you Grandad?” she asked.
Yes honey, He made me.” She felt her own
cheek and then asked “Did God make me too?”
“Yes honey He made you too.”
“Well” she shrugged “Don’t you think He’s doing
A better job now than He used to?”
Hello Friends,
February reminds me of love, valentines and candy.
As Christians we
have received the greatest gift of love
from God - His Son, Jesus. He has also
given us His love letters, the Bible.
Aren’t you thankful for these gifts of
love?
I’m also reminded of the beautiful
verses that define love from I Cor. 13:4-8a,
“Love is patient, love is kind and it is not
jealous; love does not brag
and is not arrogant, does
not act unbecomingly; it
does not seek its own, is
not provoked, does not
take into account a wrong
suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; it bears
all things, believes all things, hopes all
things, endures all things. Love never
fails.”
I’m thankful for you, our church
family and the times we are blessed to
share together! God bless you my dear
brothers and sisters in Christ.
Love through Christ,
Bill
55+ Luncheon
Covered Dish - February 9, 2014
Veep Bob filling in for Prez Jim…..
Today we see actions from government and
proclamations from pulpits that are contrary to biblical teaching. It has often been said that you can’t
legislate morality. In recent decades, however, government has not only legislated but also judicated
and administrated immorality. This has happened as
the nature of a democracy generally reflects the majority opinion of the people. Over time this takes its
toll in the thinking of us all. Not only does this promote moral decay but also erosion of spiritual discernment.
The Word has much to say about light. “Thy
word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my
path.” (Psalm 119:105) Jesus said, “Ye (each of us)
are the light of the world….let your light so shine
before men”…..(Matt. 5:14,16)
We hear a lot about the “right thing” from
government and “enlightenment” from various religious groups. Their “packaging” can be very convincing to the point that wrong appears to be right.
As we are light, surely we can recognize light.
Therefore, a simple question provides a measure of
spiritual discernment to today’s social issues. Is that
which is being proposed and claimed a light to or a
reflection of society? Think about it…..
A reminder from Prez Jim…”Continue to put
Bill and Lisa Stone at the top of your prayer list.”
They are so appreciative of the many ways you have
blessed them.
Your Veep,
Bob
P.S. Don’t forget… Bring extra food for our college
students.
After Morning Worship Service
All 55+ visitors are invited.
College Students will join us.
God loves you because of who God is,
Not because of anything you did or didn’t do.

RESCUE MISSION
On December 31, 2013, Leonard and Ann Shively, Joe Sharpe, Sandra Daniels and Jim and Brenda
Boyington served the monthly meal at the Rescue Mission.
This just happened to be Larry Self’s last day
working as Director of Mission. We were glad he was
able to have this meal with us, along with about 38
guests and workers. It has been a pleasure working
with him over the years. We are looking forward to
working with Kim England who will be the new Director.
It is always a blessing to provide a meal for the
Mission and share the love of Christ with each person.
Joe Sharpe gave the devotion and invitation for salvation.
It was Jim Boyington’s birthday
and he could not think of any better
way to celebrate it than helping someone else learn about God.
What Valentine Can I Give Him?
What can I give to Jesus
On this special Valentine’s Day?
How can I tell Him I’ll love Him,
And follow Him, come what may?
How can I show I need Him?
Should I send a red heart,
with lace?
How can I thank Him
enough
For His sacrifice, love and
grace?
What Valentine can I give Him,
My adoration to impart?
I’ll give to Him what He wants most;
I’ll yield to Him my heart.
