2015 Parade Entry - City of Pascagoula

Dear Paraders,
The Jackson County Carnival Association invites you to participate in the 39th Annual Mardi Gras Parade in
Pascagoula on February 14, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. Please note that the deadline for entry is noon Friday January
30, 2015.
An Entry Form, Drivers Briefing and brief set of Do’s and Don’ts is enclosed. Position in the parade requires
receipt of a completed entry form. Be aware that all traffic into the staging area should enter from Dupont onto
Canty and on to your numbered area.
In the event of rain, the parade will be at 2:00PM Sunday, February 15, 2015. Announcement of delay will be
made on local radio stations by 9:30 A.M. Saturday.
Our parade is a family event and we expect the music and behavior of your riders to be appropriate for all ages,
including children. Reports of offensive music or inappropriate behavior will result in your entry being
removed from the lineup and / or not asked to return next year. Please be sure that throws are safe in nature
(designed to be used as throws) and that your riders throw in a responsible manner.
For safety reasons no one may ride on the back of a vehicle pulling a trailer or in the back of any pickup truck.
We cannot allow privately owned 2-wheeled vehicles (like motorcycles, scooters or bicycles), golf carts or all
terrain vehicles in the staging area or parade.
All equestrian entries will parade as the last units in the parade. They will be staged at the west end of Ingalls
Avenue.
JCCA is not responsible for any accident or injury related to parade activities.

Route from Ingalls Avenue and Pascagoula Street will be:
East on Ingalls Avenue
North on Market Street
West on Jackson
South on Pascagoula Street
West onto Ingalls back to the staging area

JCCA is not liable for accidents and / or injuries related to the parade.
 All entries must enter staging area from Dupont onto Canty. Participants entering from
other areas will be asked to leave the staging area and not participate.
 DO NOT LITTER. Remove all trash from staging area or use dumpsters provided
 ALL Floats must be parked by 10:30AM to be in the parade, other entries by noon
 For safety NO THROWS until past corner of Ingalls and Pascagoula
 No Music or participant behavior not appropriate for a family event
 No one under 18 may participate in the parade on foot unless part of military/school
marching unit
 No riders on back of any vehicle pulling a trailer / No riders in bed of pickup
 No Golf Carts or privately owned 1, 2 or 4 wheelers at staging area or in parade
 Drivers should not throw anything from a vehicle with paraders or pulling a float
 All entries must be decorated with event or Mardi Gras theme
Failure to abide by these instructions may result in entry being pulled from parade

DO'S AND DON'TS
SPECTATORS
1.
No Spectators allowed on lineup route. This is a staging area for paraders only.
2.
No private motorcycles, 4 wheelers, golf carts or bicycles in staging area.
3.
Paraders are not to throw anything first corner of actual parade.
4.
No silly string or poppers on parade route.
5.
For safety reasons, do not approach or follow floats.
6.
Please do not litter.
7.
Do not climb on or cross the barricades.

All entries must enter the staging area from Dupont onto Canty
All floats must to be in place by 10:30 am. (Late arrivals may not be allowed to
participate in the parade)
All other entries must be in place by 12:00 noon.
Line up with entry numbers will be in Friday's Mississippi Press.
Do not litter staging area or route !!!
Each driver must be sober at all times.
Remember Pascagoula's open container law.

ages. Entries will be pulled from route for violations.
For safety of paraders and spectators be sure that all items thrown from the floats
are designed as throws.

No one under 18 may participate in the parade on foot.
All equestrian groups will be the last units in the parade.
DRIVERS BRIEFING AND SAFETY ISSUES
2015 JCCA PARADE
1. ALL DRIVERS MUST REGISTER 0.0000000 ON BREATHALYZER WHEN PPD CHECKS. NO
EXCEPTIONS. Be available at your vehicle from the time it is parked until the
parade starts moving at 1:00PM.
2. For the safety of all, DRIVERS SHOULD NOT THROW ANYTHING.
3. NO ONE IS ALLOWED TO RIDE IN/ON THE BACK OF ANY TRUCK PULLING A TRAILER.
4. NO ONE IS ALLOWED TO RIDE IN THE BACK OF A PICKUP TRUCK.
5. PARADE WILL ROLL AT A CONTINUOUS SPEED (less than 2 miles per hour) TO LAST120
MINUTES. PLEASE KEEP SPACING CONSISTENT. PROBLEMS WITH SPACING (due to
stopping for other than safety reasons) MAY RESULT IN ENTRY BEING PULLED FROM PARADE
or ENTRY NOT BEING ACCEPTED AGAIN.
6. NO ONE UNDER 18 MAY PARTICIPATE IN THE PARADE ON FOOT unless they are part of a
school/military marching group (ROTC, etc).
7. PLEASE ADVISE ALL RIDERS NOT TO THROW ANYTHING UNTIL THE FIRST CORNER OF
THE PARADE ROUTE – NOT IN THE STAGING AREA.
8. ALL ENTRIES MUST ENTER STAGING AREA FROM DUPONT ONTO CANTY AND AROUND TO
YOUR NUMBERED AREA. YOU WILL RETURN TO THE SAME SPACE AFTER THE PARADE IS
FINISHED. PULL OFF THE ROADWAY.
9. This is a FAMILY event. DO NOT HAVE MUSIC OR ACTIVITIES THAT ARE NOT APPROPRIATE
FOR ALL AGES. Entries may be pulled out of parade for violations.
10. FOR SAFETY OF PARADERS AND SPECTATORS BE SURE THAT ALL ITEMS THROWN FROM
THE FLOATS ARE DESIGNED AS THROWS.
11. ASK PARADERS NOT TO LITTER THE STAGING AREA OR ROUTE.
