III. RECRUITMENT INITIATIVES

Host activity reasonably calculated to
further the goal of disseminating
information as to employment
opportunites(4)
(1)In the fall of 2014, Our Sports Director lectured a
Broadcasting class for the local community college,
Seward County Community College. The class was
conducted at our studios and the students were given
access to all our equipment and facilities and learned all
aspects of the radio business. The students received three
credit hours for their fall semester participation having
met twice a week. . (2)We also had a local high school
student Job Shadow our engineer three times a week
beginning in Jan. 2015. This internship is sponsored by
the Youth Entrepreneurship program at Liberal High
School and will be continuing thru the winter of 2015.
(3) Our news-sports director and our Sales Manager were
both involved in a high school organization dealing with
youth entrepreneurship, career and technical education,
and advisory council. Both were involved in all aspects
including conducting mock interviews with students
wanting to enter the broadcasting business. Our sales
manager devoted over 20 hours with her involvemnet
with this group. (4) College Student did an on air/
production internship with our morning drivetime host
Monday- Friday during the summer of 2014. He was cohost for the 4 hour shift and was included in all onair
broadcasting responsibilites. All paper correspondence is
in public files.

Participate in job fair
In January 2015, Seward County Broadcasting Cosponsored a job fair in conjunction with The Liberal
Chamber of Commerce, SCCC-ATC, National Beef, and
other local businesses. A booth, with station personnel
present, offered broadcasting literature and job
applications for said job fairs. We received numerous job
applications which remains on file for consideration for
future job employment. We also promoted the event by
providing 126 free announcements on each of our three
stations.

Host event/program sponsored by or On several occasions during the reporting periods,
on behalf of an educational institution students from the local high school and local community
regarding careers in broadcasting
college were given tours of our studios. Along with their
instructors, the students were given access to each area of
our operation and each manager of their department
outlined their job duties, etc. The tours were hosted by
our engineer John Mulhern. A tour was also given to
members of the local Boy Scouts. John Mulhern, again,
conducted said tour.

Promotion of Scholarship Programs
Seward county Broadcasting participated in a state wide
promotion (Kansas Association of Broadcasters),
reminding of broadcasting scholarships available to high
school and Community College students who intend to
study Broadcasting at a four year institution. Our
participation included airing commercials promoting the
availability of the scholarship monies. We also have
implemented a year long commerical schedule for each of
our stations seeking employment opportunites within our
company should they exist. We also ask for cooperation
with other agencies (Church groups, employments
agencies, NAACP, etc) for their assistance should a job
opening become available. We have done this schedule
for several years now.
