Who is the Spirit of Christ
INTRODUCTION
Many people for one reason or the other have tried
to understand God, the great creator who stretched the
fabric of the universe and scattered galaxies upon it. This
awesome God has been a mystery from time
immemorial, not only to men but to angels as well, to
the point where one of Job’s friend’s asks a very
interesting question:
Job 11:7 [amp]
Can you find out the deep things of God, or can you by
searching find out the limits of the Almighty [explore His depths,
ascend to His heights, extend to His breadths, and comprehend His
infinite perfection]?
He asked whether a man could possibly know God.
Can he or she find out His deep things? Can we
understand His infinite perfection or better yet can we
reach His fullness?
The answer is Yes
7
Who is the Spirit of Christ
While Jesus was on earth, He knew of God’s
perfection. He knew it was infinite, yet He informed His
disciples that they should do better than know it. He told
His disciples that they must become that very perfection
of God:
Mathew 5:48 [gnt]
You must be perfect—just as your Father in heaven is perfect.
This declaration was an encouragement that we
could not only know of how God is perfect, but also
become perfect just as God is perfect.
But in order to come to this level we need
knowledge. Just think of a student who wants to become
a surgeon. First of all he must have seen or heard about
a surgeon somewhere. This creates in him a desire to be
a surgeon. He then makes a decision in his mind to do
surgery. He goes to medical school. He saturates himself
with medical and surgical knowledge. He associates
himself with a surgeon and over a certain period of time,
Viola! He becomes a surgeon. When he started it out it
might have seemed impossible. He definitely met people
8
Who is the Spirit of Christ
that almost talked him out of the course that he was
undertaking, but in the end he finally became what he
wanted, a surgeon.
Just as the student received knowledge and became
a surgeon, there is a knowledge that a man would receive
to become the perfection of God. Its revelation
transforms a man into the very glory of God, [2
Corinthians 3:18] because it is a knowledge that
transforms. It brings upon a person the glory of God:
1 Corinthians 2:7 [rsv]
But we impart a secret and hidden wisdom of God, which
God decreed before the ages for our glorification.
In the past it was a mystery hidden from angels and
men, but God promised to pour out this knowledge to
all who would accept Him [Isaiah 40:5]:
Colossians 1:26-27 [kjv]
that is, the mystery which has been hidden from the past ages
and generations, but has now been manifested to His saints, to whom
9
Who is the Spirit of Christ
God willed to make known what is the riches of the glory of this
mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory
That mystery is Jesus Christ. He is the hope of the
Glory. The Apostle Paul believed that if he fully
understood this man he would be enraptured into the
glory of God. He writes:
Philippians 3:10-15 [amp]
[For my determined purpose is] that I may know Him [that I
may progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted
with Him, perceiving and recognizing and understanding the
wonders of His Person more strongly and more clearly], and that I
may in that same way come to know the power outflowing from His
resurrection [which it exerts over believers], and that I may so share
His sufferings as to be continually transformed [in spirit into His
likeness even] to His death, [in the hope] That if possible I may attain
to the [spiritual and moral] resurrection [that lifts me] out from
among the dead [even while in the body]. Not that I have now attained
[this ideal], or have already been made perfect, but I press on to lay
10
Who is the Spirit of Christ
hold of (grasp) and make my own, that for which Christ Jesus (the
Messiah) has laid hold of me and made me His own. I do not consider,
brethren, that I have captured and made it my own [yet]; but one
thing I do [it is my one aspiration]: forgetting what lies behind and
straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal to win
the [supreme and heavenly] prize to which God in Christ Jesus is
calling us upward. So let those [of us] who are spiritually mature and
full-grown have this mind and hold these convictions; and if in any
respect you have a different attitude of mind, God will make that
clear to you also
The Apostle Paul sought out after the Character
and Power of God by understanding Jesus. He expected
every mature believer to follow his example.
God placed this mystery in you. It is His pleasure
that you discover Him and be changed.
Proverbs 25:2 [kjv]
It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of
kings is to search out a matter.

SECTION I:
JESUS IS GOD
13
Who is the Spirit of Christ
JESUS IS GOD
Around 2000 years ago there came a man who
transcended all the levels of divinity and became divine.
He was a man chosen to reveal the character and the
power of God:
2 Corinthians 4:6 [kjv]
For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness,
hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the
glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
By understanding the life of this man we can be
able to receive the knowledge of God’s glory which is
able to transform a man. The life of Jesus Christ was a
revelation of the glory of our Heavenly Father. From His
name to His attitude and even attributes.
Since God has three forms: the Father, the Son and
the Holy Spirit, it is the Son who interacted with men so
that we may know God:
Hebrews 1:2-3 [amp]
14
Who is the Spirit of Christ
[But] in the last of these days He has spoken to us in [the
person of a] Son, Whom He appointed Heir and lawful Owner of all
things, also by and through Whom He created the worlds and the
reaches of space and the ages of time [He made, produced, built,
operated, and arranged them in order]. He is the sole expression of
the glory of God [the Light-being, the out-raying or radiance of the
divine], and He is the perfect imprint and very image of
[God’s]nature,
upholding
and maintaining and guiding and propelling the universe by His
mighty word of power. When He had by offering
himself accomplished our cleansing of sins and riddance of guilt, He
sat down at the right hand of the divine Majesty on high,
If you met a person it would be important to know
their name first. How could anyone know a person
without knowing his or her name [Proverbs 30:3-4]? So
first the Son revealed the name of God. And when the
Son came to the world, He had the name Jesus [Luke
1:31].
15
Who is the Spirit of Christ
The revelation of God’s name was in the great
commission that was carried out. When Jesus sent out
His disciples, He told them to baptize people in the
name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit:
Mathew 28:19 [kjv]
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the
name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Now nowhere in the bible is it recorded that the
disciples used the name “the Father, the Son and the
Holy Spirit.” Instead they used the name Jesus to baptize
the people, because they knew, that the name Jesus was
the name of the God head [Luke 24:47, Acts 10:43, Joel
2:32].
This is one example:
Acts 2:38 [kjv]
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one
of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye
shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
16
Who is the Spirit of Christ
The Apostle Peter then emphasized that there was
no other name, but the name of Jesus, that could be able
to save them from sin [Acts 4:12].
The next three subtopics reveal more about the
genealogy of this name.
17
Who is the Spirit of Christ
GOD THE FATHER
God the Father is the Supreme Being sited on the
throne. The heavens and the earth were created by the
Word of His mouth. He has never at any one time left
the throne [Psalms 93:2]. And upon that throne He sits
and reigns as King and Lord of all:
Psalms 47:8 [tlb]
He reigns above the nations, sitting on his holy throne.
When people refer to Him they look or point to the
sky signifying of His position that is above. His Son also
knew that He was above. After the Son of God had
resurrected from the grave He said that He would
ascend to The Father:
John 20:17 [kjv]
Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended
to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend
unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.
18
Who is the Spirit of Christ
Jesus Christ had a remarkable relationship with
His Father and what is most remarkable is the name that
He knew Him by. There is a prayer that the Son of God
made which revealed His thoughts on the name of The
Father. As He prayed in the garden of gethsemane just
before He was crucified, He told the Father that He had
manifested a certain name to His disciples. This
particular name belonged to the Father. In fact it was the
name of the Father. As the Son of God prayed He said
these words:
John 17:6 [nkjv]
“I have manifested your name to the men whom You have
given Me out of the world. They were Yours, You gave them to Me,
and they have kept Your word.
It was the name of the Father that manifested
before the disciples who were the men given to the
Messiah. That name demonstrated the absolute power
and authority of His Heavenly Father. Everything that
was created yielded under the authority of that name.
19
Who is the Spirit of Christ
When the Son of God sent out His disciples, He
sent them out with power and authority [Luke 9:1-2].
They were to preach the Kingdom of God and
demonstrate its power by casting out devils and healing
the sick. When they used that name they had results:
Luke 10:17 [kjv]
And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even
the devils are subject unto us through thy name.
Not only did they use it then, they used in other
places and at other times to do good and glorify God.
Another example when they used this name is when
they went to the temple and found a lame man:
Acts 3:1-10 [kjv]
Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the
hour of prayer, being the ninth hour. And a certain man lame from
his mother's womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of
the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered
into the temple; Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the
temple asked an alms. And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with
20
Who is the Spirit of Christ
John, said, Look on us. And he gave heed unto them, expecting to
receive something of them. Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I
none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of
Nazareth rise up and walk. And he took him by the right hand, and
lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received
strength. And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with
them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God. And
all the people saw him walking and praising God: And they knew
that it was he which sat for alms at the Beautiful gate of the temple:
and they were filled with wonder and amazement at that which had
happened unto him.
It was the name Jesus that manifested before the
disciples. And that is the name of our Heavenly Father.
21
Who is the Spirit of Christ
GOD THE SON
When Mary was about to conceive the Messiah by
the power of the Holy Spirit, angel Gabriel was sent to
her and told her that she should give her child a name.
That name was Jesus:
Luke 1:31[kjv]
And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth
a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.
Throughout the four Gospels He was called Jesus
and was referred to as Jesus of Nazareth because He
grew up in Nazareth. Anyone that called Him by His
name He responded.
The scriptures expound deeply on where that
name came from. They reveal that He inherited this
name. The name of Jesus that was of the Father (as
explained in the previous chapter) was inherited by the
Son.
Hebrews 1:4-6 [kjv]
22
Who is the Spirit of Christ
Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by
inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they. For unto which
of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I
begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be
to me a Son? And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into
the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.
The Son had inherited that name from His Father.
Everybody knows that it is a common thing for a father
to give his child his name. For example if a father was
named Jonathan Kent and then named his son Clark
Kent, we could say the name Kent has been inherited by
the son. That name usually belongs to the father and
when it is passed on to a child, he has simply inherited
it. That name would also be the household name. The
wife and daughters would have that name too. The
name Jesus was the name inherited by the Son of God;
and not only Him, but every person that is baptized into
Jesus receives this name [Numbers 6:27, John1:12]. This
name is a family name. Paul understood this truth and
23
Who is the Spirit of Christ
acknowledged that every person in the family of God is
called by this name:
Ephesians 3:14-15 [kjv]
For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus
Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
And our Heavenly Father too calls us by that name:
Isaiah 43:7 [kjv]
Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created
him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.
This name carries honor and authority. And when
the Son of God received this name everything that
yielded to His Father also became subject to Him. Every
angel, demon, creature and matter yielded at the sound
of His name [Philippians 2:10].
By displaying power using His Father’s name the
Son of God had revealed and honored Him:
John 14:13 [kjv]
24
Who is the Spirit of Christ
And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that
the Father may be glorified in the Son.
25
Who is the Spirit of Christ
GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT
The Holy Spirit has been one of the most
outstanding personalities in the bible. Many
descriptions have been given for Him. Different views
and thoughts are still being written about Him, even to
this date. The vast ideas that have sprang up about Him
have glorified Him. But they have also diversified Him
to the point a person may not basically understand Him
when they briefly hear about Him for the first time.
Some have called Him a fire, others a wind and
most people have generalized Him to be a bird (a dove
to be specific). These ideas and images are part of the
infinite manifestations of Him and that is why everyone
is intrigued and curious to know who the Holy Spirit
really is.
Well, the Holy Spirit is the third person of the
trinity. He is also referred to as the Holy Ghost. The ideal
description of a ghost is interpreted as more of a person
than a thing because it can see, move, think and know.
The most significant of their ideal characteristic is that
26
Who is the Spirit of Christ
they have memories, consciousness and exact
personalities from where they came from.
‘The Holy Ghost’ is a term used to identify the
ghost that comes from God. Or rather He is ‘the Ghost
of God’. He is also known as the Spirit of God
[Ephesians 4:30]. Jesus Christ described Him as the
Spirit that usually came out of God:
John 15:26 [kjv]
But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you
from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the
Father, he shall testify of me
Therefore, when we mention the terms ‘the Spirit
of God’ or ‘the Holy Spirit’ or ‘The Holy Ghost’ we are
pointing to one person. The Spirit of God is the whole
essence of God the Father.
God the Father is always sited in heaven. He is
always on His throne. He will never get out of there for
eternity, yet again He promises us that He will be with
us forever. How does He do it? How can He be here on
earth and in heaven too? It is by His Spirit. David, one
27
Who is the Spirit of Christ
of the greatest king of Israel knew of the Spirit of God.
He had insight that He was everywhere and wrote:
Psalms 139:7 [kjv]
Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from
thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my
bed in hell, behold, thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning,
and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there shall thy hand
lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.
God the Father is present everywhere: in hell, on
earth and in heaven too. He is omnipresent by His Spirit.
He is in the smallest of atoms and the largest of galaxies
are in Him. He is also at all times by His Spirit and that
is why He is able to see and hear everything at the same
time. Surely, He is not there to spy on you but to help
you.
The Holy Spirit dwells in every believer. He walks
with every one of us. He loves us and takes care of us
[Romans 8:14]. No wonder David testified that though
28
Who is the Spirit of Christ
he walked in the valley of the shadow of death he would
not be afraid for God was with him [Psalms 23:4].
Because the Spirit of God ushers in the presence of
God He is also referred to as the ‘Angel of God’s
presence’. The Holy Spirit is not greater or lesser than
the Father or the Son. When God was sited in heaven,
He was referred to as ‘God the Father’, but as He moved
with the Israelites from Egypt to Canaan, He was
referred to as ‘the Holy Spirit’. Here is one reference:
Isaiah 63:8-16 [amp]
For He said, Surely they are My people, sons who will not lie
[who will not deal falsely with Me]; and so He was to them a Savior
[in all their distresses]. In all their affliction He was afflicted, and the
Angel of His presence saved them; in His love and in His pity He
redeemed them; and He lifted them up and carried them all the days
of old. But they rebelled and grieved His Holy Spirit; therefore He
turned to become their enemy and Himself fought against them.
Then His people [seriously] remembered the days of old, of Moses
and his people [and they said], Where is He Who brought [our
29
Who is the Spirit of Christ
fathers] up out of the [Red] Sea, with [Moses and the other]
shepherds of His flock? Where is He Who put His Holy Spirit within
their midst, Who caused His glorious arm to go at the right hand of
Moses, dividing the waters before them, to make for Himself an
everlasting name, Who led them through the depths, like a horse in
the wilderness, so that they did not stumble? Like the cattle that go
down into the valley [to find better pasturage, refuge, and rest], the
Spirit of the Lord caused them to rest. So did You lead Your people
[Lord] to make for Yourself a beautiful and glorious name [to
prepare the way for the acknowledgment of Your name by all
nations]. Look down from heaven and see from the dwelling place of
Your holiness and Your glory. Where are Your zeal and Your jealousy
and Your mighty acts [which you formerly did for Your people]?
Your yearning pity and the [multitude of] compassions of Your heart
are restrained and withheld from me. For [surely] You are our
Father, even though Abraham [our ancestor] does not know us and
Israel (Jacob) does not acknowledge us; You, O Lord, are [still] our
Father, our Redeemer from everlasting is Your name.
30
Who is the Spirit of Christ
The Holy Spirit moved with the Israelites and gave
them hope, rest and fulfilment:
Deuteronomy 31:6 [kjv]
Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of
them: for the LORD thy God, he [it is] that doth go with thee; he will
not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
This is because God had sent Him to them to help
them:
Exodus 23:20-22 [kjv]
Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way,
and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared. Beware of
him, and obey his voice, provoke him not; for he will not pardon your
transgressions: for my name is in him. But if thou shalt indeed obey
his voice, and do all that I speak; then I will be an enemy unto thine
enemies, and an adversary unto thine adversaries.
31
Who is the Spirit of Christ
When the Son of God spoke about Him, He said
that He would be sent in the name that was also the
name of the Son of God. That name was Jesus:
John 14:26 [kjv]
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father
will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all
things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
At the sound of the name of Jesus, the Holy Spirit
responds [John 16:14-15]. And not only the Holy Spirit,
but the Father and the Son. When you call upon the
name of Jesus the entire God head is called upon. When
you worship Jesus you have worshiped the entire God
head for He is one person [1 Timothy 2:5], manifesting
Himself in three forms: The Father, The Son and The
Holy Spirit.
32

SECTION II:
THE SON OF MAN
33
Who is the Spirit of Christ
THE SON OF MAN
The life of Jesus Christ here on earth has been the
most extraordinary experience ever written about a
man. Its effect is still present to this date because He was
a man when He did all the things that He did. He
mirrored the experience that men could have. He gave
sight to the blind and hearing to the deaf. He healed the
sick and cast out demons. Life oozed from His body and
everyone ran to touch this man to receive the
exhilarating life that emanated from within Him:
Mathew 14:35-36 [niv]
And when the men of that place recognized Jesus, they sent
word to all the surrounding country. People brought all their sick to
him and begged him to let the sick just touch the edge of his cloak,
and all who touched it were healed.
While doing all these things it is remarkable of
what He said about Himself. He always emphasized that
He was the son of man [Luke 5:24], meaning any human
being could do the things He did. He showed a glimpse
34
Who is the Spirit of Christ
of what man would experience if only they believed. For
He said:
John 14:12 [kjv]
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works
that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do;
because I go unto my Father.
When Jesus came, He came as a man. He was born
as a man, He lived as a man, and He died as a man. Even
as He rose up from the grave He rose up as a man. It was
the life of this man that Paul wanted to learn and
experience. It was the mesmerizing life of Love and
Power.
35
Who is the Spirit of Christ
THE INCARNATED WORD
When man had fallen from God because of his sin,
he lost all his glory, honor and power. At this sinful state
we could not reach God, but God could reach us. He
would restore us to our once former state. It is written:
Romans 3:23-24 [niv]
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all
are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by
Christ Jesus.
God the Father had to come Himself to restore us:
1 Timothy 3:16 [kjv]
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness:
God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels,
preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into
glory.
God came to the earth. He spoke Himself into the
realm of man as a man. The Son of God was a product
36
Who is the Spirit of Christ
of God the Father speaking Himself as a man into the
world:
John 1:14 [amp]
And the Word (Christ) became flesh (human, incarnate) and
tabernacled (fixed His tent of flesh, lived awhile) among us; and we
[actually] saw His glory (His honor, His majesty), such glory as an
only begotten son receives from his father, full of grace (favor, loving-
kindness) and truth.
The Son of God is the Word of God incarnated to
flesh. He was the visible representation of God the
Father:
Colossians 1:15 [amp]
[Now] He is the exact likeness of the unseen God [the visible
representation of the invisible]; He is the Firstborn of all creation
His words made Him manifest on this earth. He
was there from the beginning when He created the
world [John 8:58]:
John 1:1-3 [niv]
37
Who is the Spirit of Christ
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with
God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the
beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing
was made that has been made.
While He was on earth He testified that any person
that saw Him had already seen God the Father:
John 14:8-9 [amp]
Philip said to Him, Lord, show us the Father [cause us to see
the Father—that is all we ask]; then we shall be satisfied. Jesus
replied, Have I been with all of you for so long a time, and do you not
recognize and know Me yet, Philip? Anyone who has seen Me has
seen the Father. How can you say then, Show us the Father?
On the earth, God was exactly like a man. He had
all the attributes of a human being. He could see, eat, get
tired, sleep, laugh, talk and even cry:
Hebrews 2:16-17 [gnt]
For it is clear that it is not the angels that he helps. Instead, he
helps the descendants of Abraham. This means that he had to
38
Who is the Spirit of Christ
become like his people in every way, in order to be their faithful and
merciful High Priest in his service to God, so that the people's sins
would be forgiven.
He was made exactly like us. Now He had a spirit
like that of Adam before the fall (not the Holy Spirit).
This peculiar Spirit is what I refer to as the Spirit of
Christ. The term Christ is given to Him in reference to
His specific anointing to carry sin and save men (both
male and female):
Isaiah 53:10 [tlb]
But it was the Lord’s good plan to bruise him and fill him with
grief. However, when his soul has been made an offering for sin, then
he shall have a multitude of children, many heirs. He shall live
again, and God’s program shall prosper in his hands.
The Spirit of Christ was designed to carry sin and
was programed for death [John 12:27]. The reason He
came to the world was that He may absorb sin and die
as a man. And by destroying the sin upon Himself we
would become redeemed:
Hebrews 2:14-15 [gnt]
39
Who is the Spirit of Christ
Since the children, as he calls them, are people of flesh and
blood, Jesus himself became like them and shared their human
nature. He did this so that through his death he might destroy the
Devil, who has the power over death,
and in this way set free those who were slaves all their lives
because of their fear of death.
40
Who is the Spirit of Christ
THE CRUCIFIXION
The death of Jesus Christ is the most significant
death of any person in history. It shows the utmost love
a person could have which is to give their life for
someone else [John 15:13]. His death is the very
evidence of God’s love for us.
Jesus Christ came to the world to die for the sins of
the world. The Son of God was taken to Calvary and
nailed on the cross. The book of Mathew 25, 26 and 27
record what happened then.
The reason He suffered was because all of our sins
were placed upon Him. Every sin that was committed or
that would ever be committed, He paid the full price of
it so that we may become sinless.
2 Corinthians 5:21[amp]
For our sake He made Christ [virtually] to be sin Who knew no
sin, so that in and through Him we might become [endued with,
viewed as being in, and examples of] the righteousness of God [what
41
Who is the Spirit of Christ
we ought to be, approved and acceptable and in right relationship
with Him, by His goodness].
The judgment meant for us was placed upon Jesus
Christ so that God would judge the sin that was upon
Him and destroy it and never again judge us [Isaiah
53:10-11]. The price would be paid in full when the man
bearing all those sins would be punished, then all those
sins would be paid for.
It was by the process of the cross where we see Him
suffer, beaten, bruised and forsaken by the Holy Spirit.
1 Peter 3:18 [rsv]
For Christ also died for sins once for all, the righteous for the
unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in
the flesh but made alive in the spirit; in which he went and preached
to the spirits in prison,
The scriptures reveal that Jesus Christ went to the
‘spirits in prison’ and preached there. This was hell. But
before He preached He was a prisoner in hell because sin
was upon Him and the Father had forsaken Him. The
42
Who is the Spirit of Christ
book of Psalms chapter 41, 42 and 43 give an expression
of Jesus’ experience when sin came upon Him and when
He went to hell. Here is a portion:
Psalms 42:5-11[gnt]
Why am I so sad? Why am I so troubled? I will put my hope
in God, and once again I will praise him,
my savior and my
God. Here in exile my heart is breaking, and so I turn my thoughts
to him. He has sent waves of sorrow over my soul; chaos roars at me
like a flood, like waterfalls thundering down to the Jordan from
Mount Hermon and Mount Mizar. May the LORD show his constant
love during the day, so that I may have a song at night, a prayer to
the God of my life. To God, my defender, I say, “Why have you
forgotten me? Why must I go on suffering from the cruelty of my
enemies?” I am crushed by their insults, as they keep on asking
me, “Where is your God?” Why am I so sad? Why am I so troubled?
I will put my hope in God, and once again I will praise him, my
savior and my God.
43
Who is the Spirit of Christ
These were the prayers the writer of Hebrews
talked about:
Hebrews 5:7 [amp]
In the days of His flesh [Jesus] offered up definite, special
petitions [for that which He not only wanted but needed] and
supplications with strong crying and tears to Him Who was [always]
able to save Him [out] from death, and He was heard because of His
reverence toward God [His godly fear, His piety, in that He shrank
from the horrors of separation from the bright presence of the Father].
There was a relationship between Jesus and Jonah.
Jesus spoke of his separation in reference to Jonah:
Mathew 12:40 [kjv]
For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a
huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in
the heart of the earth.
Jesus Christ had advance knowledge that He
would not stay there for long. In Hell He experienced
44
Who is the Spirit of Christ
separation and pain that were necessary for the paying
of our sins. When every ounce of sin in eternity was
destroyed every person became justified and once again
the Father came upon Jesus Christ [Psalms 18]. He was
not late:
Habakkuk 3:13-14 [niv]
You came out to deliver your people, to save your anointed one.
You crushed the leader of the land of wickedness, you stripped him
from head to foot. With his own spear you pierced his head when his
warriors stormed out to scatter us, gloating as though about to
devour the wretched who were in hiding.
The good news translation puts it even clearer:
Habakkuk 3:13 [gnt]
You went out to save your people, to save your chosen king.
You struck down the leader of the wicked and completely destroyed
his followers.
The person described coming to save was His
Father. He came to Hell by His Spirit. He came for His
45
Who is the Spirit of Christ
Son and for His people. The Spirit of God manifested
Himself upon Jesus Christ. This was the same Spirit that
manifested upon Samson and made him slay one
thousand men with the jaw bone of a donkey [Judges
15:14-15].
That day Satan was in for a beat down. Jesus Christ
literarily became a one man army and paralyzed all the
forces of darkness. Everybody in the realm of the Spirit
witnessed it:
Colossians 2:15 [amp]
[God] disarmed the principalities and powers that were
ranged against us and made a bold display and public example of
them, in triumphing over them in Him and in it [the cross].
It was God the Father (by the power of Holy Spirit)
who did it in His Son. No wonder the scriptures say that
He did it ‘in Him’.
After defeating death and the devil, Jesus declared
that He was Savior and them that came to Him, He took
them with Him:
46
Who is the Spirit of Christ
Ephesians 4:8 [niv]
This is why it says: “When he ascended on high, he took many
captives and gave gifts to his people.
47
Who is the Spirit of Christ
THE RESURRECTION
Acts 2:24 [gnt]
But God raised him from death, setting him free from its
power, because it was impossible that death should hold him
prisoner.
The Spirit of God came upon Jesus Christ, made
Him destroy all the powers of darkness and finally made
Him rise from the dead [Romans 8:11].
When Jesus came back from the dead, He could
not resist telling man what He had done. Before going to
the Father He went to Mary. He revealed to her that
mankind was already redeemed. He did it by calling His
disciples brothers and telling them that His Father was
now their Father:
John 20:17 [gnt]
“Do not hold on to me,” Jesus told her, “because I have not yet
gone back up to the Father. But go to my brothers and tell them that
48
Who is the Spirit of Christ
I am returning to him who is my Father and their Father, my God
and their God.
By calling them brothers Jesus had shown them
that a relationship among Him and mankind had been
re-established. Their once lost glory had been restored.
And then Jesus rose up and went to heaven
[Psalms 43:3-4]:
Psalms 24:7-10 [kjv]
Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting
doors; and the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory?
The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle. Lift up your
heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the
King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The LORD of
hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah.
Jesus Christ, the Son of God, entered the gates of
Heaven. He is the King of Glory. He that is mighty in
battle, who destroyed all the forces of darkness, was yet
to do one last thing.
49
Who is the Spirit of Christ
God wanted to save man not only in this age, but
also in the ages to come. So He went with His perfect
blood that had no sin and had gained obedience and He
put it on the temple that is in heaven [Hebrews 9:24]:
Hebrews 9:11-12 [amp]
But [that appointed time came] when Christ (the Messiah)
appeared as a High Priest of the better things that have come and are
to come. [Then] through the greater and more perfect tabernacle not
made with [human] hands, that is, not a part of this material
creation, He went once for all into the [Holy of] Holies [of heaven],
not by virtue of the blood of goats and calves [by which to make
reconciliation between God and man], but His own blood, having
found and secured a complete redemption (an everlasting release for
us).
He put His blood that cannot die, His pure and
perfect blood that is alive forever [1 Peter 1:18-19] on an
eternal altar. This means that the problem of sin was
dealt with not only in this age but in the ages to come.
50
Who is the Spirit of Christ
The writer of Hebrews says that He secured a “complete
and everlasting redemption for us.”
Any time God looks on the earth, He sees people
that are sinless, obedient and perfect. For eternity, God
will forever in all ages look at His children as sinless,
obedient and perfect because of the blood of Jesus.
Halleluiah!
When Jesus Christ came He did everything that
was to be done and went back to heaven having
accomplished redemption. He was the person designed
for our salvation and glorification:
Isaiah 55:11 [amp]
So shall My word be that goes forth out of My mouth: it shall
not return to Me void [without producing any effect, useless], but it
shall accomplish that which I please and purpose, and it shall
prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

SECTION THREE:
THE SPIRIT OF CHRIST
52
Who is the Spirit of Christ
THE SPIRIT OF CHRIST
The Son of God was called the Christ which is a
specific name for the person chosen to carry the sins of
man. Therefore as I use the term Jesus Christ in this
book I refer to the manifestation of God that was made
a man. It was this man that rose up in glory and as He
rose, He rose up with us.
David prophesied about him singing:
Psalms 80:14-19 [kjv]
Return, we beseech thee, O God of hosts: look down from
heaven, and behold, and visit this vine; And the vineyard which thy
right hand hath planted, and the branch that thou madest strong
for thyself. It is burned with fire, it is cut down: they perish at the
rebuke of thy countenance. Let thy hand be upon the man of thy right
hand, upon the son of man whom thou madest strong for thyself. So
will not we go back from thee: quicken us, and we will call upon thy
name. Turn us again, O LORD God of hosts, cause thy face to shine;
and we shall be saved.
53
Who is the Spirit of Christ
David looked upon the day he would be
transformed and mankind’s former glory would
return. He longed for the day he would see Jesus and be
saved. The Lord answered the prayer of David and
prophesied through Isaiah saying:
Isaiah 40:5 [kjv]
And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall
see it together: for the mouth of the LORD has spoken it.
The Lord Jesus came on this earth, restored our
glory and made it even better than it was before.
54
Who is the Spirit of Christ
THE FALL OF MAN
God had a dream. His dream was to make a person
like Himself [Genesis 1:26]. Although God had
everything and was fully sustainable and satisfied
lacking nothing, He wanted someone He could enjoy
everything with. Therefore He prepared everything that
was to be prepared all for the sake of this one man. He
created the angels, stars, galaxies, planets, animals, trees;
all for man to enjoy when he becomes revealed:
Psalms 8:5 [gnt]
When I look at the sky, which you have made,
at the moon and the stars, which you set in their places—
what are human beings, that you think of them;
mere mortals, that you care for them? Yet you made them inferior
only to yourself; you crowned them with glory and honor. You
appointed
them
rulers
over
everything
you
made;
you placed them over all creation: sheep and cattle, and the wild
animals too; the birds and the fish and the creatures in the seas.
But the angels came first to serve God. Every
55
Who is the Spirit of Christ
creation served God and God assigned authority to
different creatures in creation for order.
Lucifer was an angel assigned with the greatest
authority by God. He was a priest who worshiped in the
presence of God. As a priest he distributed the anointing
of God throughout heaven:
Ezekiel 31:3-5 [kjv]
Behold, the Assyrian was a cedar in Lebanon with fair
branches, and with a shadowing shroud, and of an high stature; and
his top was among the thick boughs. The waters made him great, the
deep set him up on high with her rivers running round about his
plants, and sent her little rivers unto all the trees of the field. Therefore
his height was exalted above all the trees of the field, and his boughs
were multiplied, and his branches became long because of the
multitude of waters, when he shot forth.
Because of his constant interaction with God’s
glory and power, he became exceedingly wise and also
understood how the anointing of God worked and how
to siphon it too.
He was the best of God's creation at that time and
56
Who is the Spirit of Christ
much of his past is also described in the book of Ezekiel
28:
Ezekiel 28:12-15 [gnt]
“Mortal man,” he said, “grieve for the fate that is waiting for
the king of Tyre. Tell him what I, the Sovereign LORD, am saying: You
were once an example of perfection. How wise and handsome you
were! You lived in Eden, the garden of God, and wore gems of every
kind: rubies and diamonds; topaz, beryl, carnelian, and jasper;
sapphires, emeralds, and garnets. You had ornaments of gold. They
were made for you on the day you were created. I put a terrifying
angel there to guard you. You lived on my holy mountain and walked
among sparkling gems. Your conduct was perfect from the day you
were created until you began to do evil.
Lucifer knew he was the best creation God ever
created [Ezekiel 31:8-9]. But when he heard about man
pride rose up in him.
He wanted to get the position of man through the
knowledge of siphoning anointing. He was used to this
wickedness in heaven because he constantly
manipulated how the anointing of God flowed to and
from other angels [Ezekiel 28:5]:
57
Who is the Spirit of Christ
Ezekiel 28:16 [nlt]
Your rich commerce led you to violence, and you sinned. So I
banished you in disgrace from the mountain of God. I expelled you,
O mighty guardian, from your place among the stones of fire.
When man was to be revealed he would also use
the same wickedness to receive the power of man:
Isaiah 14:13-14 [gnt]
You were determined to climb up to heaven and to place your
throne above the highest stars. You thought you would sit like a king
on that mountain in the north where the gods assemble. You said you
would climb to the tops of the clouds and be like the Almighty.
That is why Jesus called him a murderer from the
very beginning! [John 8:44] He wanted to rise above
man who was in the likeness of the almighty and He
would stop at nothing:
Ezekiel 28:17 [kjv]
Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast
corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to
the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.
58
Who is the Spirit of Christ
When God saw what Lucifer desired and planned,
He cast the devil out of heaven and judged him for the
evil he wanted. Satan had also influenced some angels
that conspired against God and man:
Revelation 12:4 [kjv]
And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did
cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which
was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was
born.
Before God created man, He rejoiced over him
with joy. All creation was intrigued at the thought of
someone else who would look and function like God.
But none other was intrigued like the devil himself. His
evil plan to destroy God's best [John 8:44] made him fall
from the heavens to the world.
When God dealt with Satan, He waited for the
appointed time and then He revealed man to all creation.
What all creation anxiously waited for had come. Adam
was able to do what God did, he had the same mind God
had, he looked exactly like God did [Genesis 1:27]. And
he loved just as God did. But he too had a dream like
God, to enjoy life with someone else who was like him.
59
Who is the Spirit of Christ
So God created Eve for him and made her desire for the
man [1 Corinthians 11:7-12].
When Adam was given everything, God realized
that He did not give him one thing. He could not give
back to God which is an expression of love. So God made
a covenant with him and his giving was by not eating the
fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil in the
Garden of Eden:
Genesis 2:16-17 [amp]
And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, You may
freely eat of every tree of the garden; But of the tree of the knowledge
of good and evil and blessing and calamity you shall not eat, for in
the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.
This tree was set apart and as long as Adam did not
eat of it, it would be a daily sacrifice, tithe and offering
as proof that He loved God.
But the devil was still on earth he rose up against
God and man. He still wanted the power man had been
given, but he had to open a gateway in order for him to
siphon out the power from mankind. He had to make
man start functioning under the principles of death for
him to access Adam’s power.
60
Who is the Spirit of Christ
When Adam broke the principle of giving unto
God by eating the forbidden he opened a gateway for the
devil. There is a principle in giving that protects the giver
which has been written throughout the bible; them that
cleave upon materialistic things always end up losing
them and those that give are always restored
[Ecclesiastes 11:1, Mathew 10:39, Mathew 16:25].
When Satan was used to always stealing the
anointing he broke this principle and was cast out of
heaven. When Adam broke it too, he opened a gateway
for Satan to steal his anointing [Ecclesiastes 10:8]:
Malachi 3:8-11[kjv]
Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say,
Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. Ye are cursed
with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation. Bring ye
all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine
house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will
not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing,
that there shall not be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke
the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your
61
Who is the Spirit of Christ
ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the
field, saith the LORD of hosts.
Ecclesiastes 10:8 [niv]
Whoever digs a pit may fall into it; whoever breaks through a
wall may be bitten by a snake.
Adam had broken the hedge that protected him.
When he failed to give to God the enemy had an
opening. This opening was an opportunity for the
serpent to bite and siphon all that God had put upon
man.
With Adam’s power and authority, Lucifer was
able to return to heaven [Job 1:7-12] and made everyone
who died never enter that place [Isaiah 14:17]. Satan
accused and mocked God every time man sinned
[Psalms 74:10,18]. He brought lies from heaven [1 kings
22:19-22] and became the angel of death [Exodus 12:23]
who delighted in killing men. Even the Arch-angel
Michael could not fight him [Jude 1:9]. With Adam’s
power, he brought havoc to God and His dream.
He also increased the power of sin. Sin was an
invention of the devil; a nature of corruption. And that
62
Who is the Spirit of Christ
corruption could be defined as fading away or also
becoming the opposite of what something is supposed
to be. He needed man’s power to charge this evil
invention. When man was exposed to this corruptive
power, this power later on affected him and the universe.
When Adam broke the principle of giving by
disobedience, came to know evil and calamity. All
creation that had been made for Adam fell under the
power of sin [Romans 8:20-21].
Sin made man fade away from God. It also brought
death upon him and all creation thereof: sickness,
sorrow, depression, immorality, and sadism; the list goes
on. All this were the horrors of what sin could produce:
Romans 3:23 [amp]
Since all have sinned and are falling short of the
honor and glory which God bestows and receives
Every part of Adam was affected by this nature of
corruption. Even his seed, and through every natural
birth each offspring would receive the sin of Adam
[Romans 5:14]. Nothing could stop it. Not even the law.
The law only prevented its spread, but it could not stop
63
Who is the Spirit of Christ
it [Romans 8:3]. A great power was needed to stop it
since a great power charged it. Since disobedience and
unfaithfulness created it, only obedience and giving
could stop it. Man knew evil and calamity through
disobedience, he was yet to know good and blessing.
This is where our precious and loving Jesus steps in
to redeem man.
64
Who is the Spirit of Christ
THE OBEDIENCE OF CHRIST
Romans 5:18 [amp]
Well then, as one man’s trespass [one man’s false step and
falling away led] to condemnation for all men, so one Man’s act of
righteousness [leads] to acquittal and right standing with God and
life for all men.
When Adam became disobedient, He gained sin
and death. The power of death grew rapidly because the
anointing of man charged it. Once sin came upon Adam,
all other forms of death started manifesting physically:
Romans 5:17 [gnt]
It is true that through the sin of one man death began to rule
because of that one man. But how much greater is the result of what
was done by the one man, Jesus Christ! All who receive God's
abundant grace and are freely put right with him will rule in life
through Christ.
We know that sin and death was a corruptive
power because Adam was told that the day he would eat
the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil he
would surely die [Genesis 2:17]. But he did not die that
65
Who is the Spirit of Christ
day. Instead he continued living on. He lived over a
certain period of time and then he died [Genesis 5:5].
When Adam gained sin, all the people that were in
him gained sin too. The cancer of sin came upon all of
his seed. Every man or woman to be born was
considered a sinner and that is why through Adam's sin,
death came upon all:
Romans 5:14 [niv]
Nevertheless, death reigned from the time of Adam to the time
of Moses, even over those who did not sin by breaking a command, as
did Adam, who is a pattern of the one to come.
But it doesn't end there God had had a divine plan
to save man from sin and death. God told Eve that her
seed would crush the head of the serpent and destroy
him [Genesis 3:15].
God was to use the womb of a woman to inhabit
Himself and when the appointed time came, God spoke
Himself into the womb of the woman Mary. Having
come through Mary by a supernatural conception, He
never inherited the sin that Adam passed on throughout
man’s generation by natural birth.
66
Who is the Spirit of Christ
Therefore, when God came as a man on earth He
came with all the attributes that Adam had before he
sinned. And that is why Jesus Christ is referred to as ‘the
last Adam’ [1 Corinthians 15:45]. He was a perfect man
without sin. When He walked on the face of the earth,
He was the only man that carried the image of God.
There was also another thing that separated the
first Adam from this last Adam. The first Adam became
disobedient and gained death, but this last Adam
became obedient and gained the opposite of what the
first Adam gained. Jesus was and is the only man who
was perfect and became obedient. His obedience made
Him a life giving Spirit. He became the man God wanted
to see Adam become:
1 Corinthians 15:45 [gnt]
For the scripture says, “The first man, Adam, was created a
living being”; but the last Adam is the life-giving Spirit.
As the Son of God came to the world, He was
entitled to one cause only. His purpose was to give out
His life, carry the sins of the world and be punished
because of the sins that were upon Him [John 12:27].
Jesus Christ humbled Himself and rose up above all
67
Who is the Spirit of Christ
kinds of temptations for this sole purpose of saving man.
His life was the epitome of obedience, sacrifice and
giving:
John 1:29[gnt]
The next day John saw Jesus coming to him, and said, “There
is the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!
We understand more about the purpose of Jesus
Christ when we know how sin offerings were carried out
in the Old Testament. In the Old Testament God had a
way of making a man righteous after he had sinned. An
animal sacrifice was used as a medium of making a man
pure:
Leviticus 4:13-21 [gnt]
If it is the whole community of Israel that sins and becomes
guilty of breaking one of the LORD's commands without intending
to, then as soon as the sin becomes known, the community shall
bring a young bull as a sin offering. They shall bring it to the Tent of
the LORD's presence; the leaders of the community shall put their
hands on its head, and it shall be killed there. The High Priest shall
take some of the bull's blood into the Tent, dip his finger in it, and
68
Who is the Spirit of Christ
sprinkle it in front of the curtain seven times. He shall put some of the
blood on the projections at the corners of the incense altar inside the
Tent and pour out the rest of it at the base of the altar used for
burning sacrifices, which is at the entrance of the Tent. Then he shall
take all its fat and burn it on the altar. He shall do the same thing
with this bull as he does with the bull for the sin offering, and in this
way he shall make the sacrifice for the people's sin, and they will be
forgiven. Then he shall take the bull outside the camp and burn it,
just as he burns the bull offered for his own sin. This is an offering
to take away the sin of the community.
The sin offering involved two parts: burning the
flesh of the animal and pouring the blood of the animal
on the temple. When a man sinned, he placed his hands
on a certain animal. By doing this, his sin would transfer
on the body of the animal. They would now take the
animal and destroy the sin that was upon it. They would
kill it and burn its flesh and therefore bring judgment
upon it. That way sin would be destroyed.
The blood, they would deal with it differently. They
would pour the blood of the animal upon God's altar and
69
Who is the Spirit of Christ
on His temple. At other times they would sprinkle the
blood on the people [Exodus 24:8]. That blood would
bring the life and righteousness of the animal upon the
people. That is because the blood carried the life and
nature of the pure animal. There is a scripture that shows
the significance of blood:
Leviticus 17:11 [nlt]
for the life of the body is in its blood. I have given you the blood
on the altar to purify you, making you right with the LORD. It is the
blood, given in exchange for a life, that makes purification possible.
The sin offering had to be done daily since the
animal was not big enough to contain all sin and its
blood always dried up. When Jesus came on earth, He
was described as ‘the Lamb of God’ who was going to
take the sins of the world away [John 1:29]. Jesus went
through the same process as the animal in the Old
Testament went through.
Men in authority such as Caiaphas (the High priest
of the Jews) and Pontius Pilate who represented the
gentiles placed judgment upon Him. They prophetically
transferred the sins of all people in all generations upon
Him. After they judged Him they took Him to Calvary
where He would be killed. Jesus Christ gave away His
70
Who is the Spirit of Christ
body to be judged for all the sins in eternity (past,
present and future) [Isaiah 53:6]. He was subjected to
torture and torment. He even went to hell! All this
process was a manifestation of the body of the animal
being slaughtered and burnt.
And finally Jesus rose up after all judgment had
been placed upon Him. As sin came upon His flesh, it is
remarkable to note that obedience was being gained in
His blood. As He took away the sins of the world as John
prophesied, He was becoming obedient and gaining the
power to make life. Therefore the blood of Jesus was
perfect and had gained obedience.
When all sin had been judged. When all sin had
been paid for, Satan lost all his power to accuse man.
Never again could he enter heaven. He cannot accuse
men to God or have any power over man because Jesus
has destroyed every sin in eternity.
Jesus ascended into heaven with His own blood
and placed His perfect blood that was pure and without
sin on the eternal temple [Hebrews 9:11-12].
His blood was and is ever living. It could never dry
up. And more importantly, His blood gained obedience
which allowed Him to become a giver of life just as the
71
Who is the Spirit of Christ
Father is.
When the Old Testament priest slaughtered the
animal, burned its flesh and poured its blood on the
temple (which represents man -2 Corinthians 6:16), the
people’s sins were forgiven and they would receive the
righteousness of the animal.
Jesus became the very manifestation of the
fulfillment of the law:
1 Corinthians 11:24-25 [kjv]
And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take,
eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance
of me. After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had
supped, saying, this cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye,
as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.
When Jesus came to the world, was crucified and
was resurrected, we come to know that we have received
the forgiveness of sins, the righteousness and the life of
God.
Glory to Jesus our Savior!
72
Who is the Spirit of Christ
WE ARE ONE
Our loving Lord and Savior made everything
possible for man. He being in heaven and having done
everything possible to set every heart right with God, He
created what He told His disciples He was going to
create:
John 14:2-3 [amp]
In My Father’s house there are many dwelling places (homes).
If it were not so, I would have told you; for I am going away to prepare
a place for you. And when (if ) I go and make ready a place for you, I
will come back again and will take you to Myself, that where I am you
may be also.
When Jesus Christ went to heaven, He did not go
to create mansions or houses or buildings as some would
think. He said that there were mansions there for
everyone already [John 14:2].
So what was it He went to create that was so mighty
that He could not create before He went through the
cross? You see He first needed to be perfected before He
73
Who is the Spirit of Christ
could create what He was going to create:
Hebrews 2:10 [amp]
For it was an act worthy [of God] and fitting [to the divine
nature] that He, for Whose sake and by Whom all things have their
existence, in bringing many sons into glory, should make the Pioneer
of their salvation perfect [should bring to maturity the human
experience necessary to be perfectly equipped for His office as High
Priest] through suffering.
Jesus was and is and will forever be perfect God.
When He created the heavens and the earth He was
perfectly God. Being perfectly God He could never
experience what man experienced. He would never
know evil. He never knew pain, suffering or loss. But
when He came to earth as a human being, He was able
to know both good and evil, joy and sorrow, gain and
loss.
John 11:35 [niv]
Jesus wept
This above scripture expresses the epitome of what
God received when He became a man. He was able to
know and feel chaos and evil after an eternity of knowing
order and good. And on that cross He became perfected
74
Who is the Spirit of Christ
knowing all evil:
Luke 13:32 [kjv]
And he said unto them, Go ye, and tell that fox, Behold, I cast
out devils, and I do cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I
shall be perfected.
On that cross He was in our place doing all the
wicked acts every person has ever done or would do and
also feeling the guilt and trauma any person had ever or
would ever experience. He became the very perfection
of evil. Our precious Lord knows all our pain and all our
grieves He understands. All of them He knew them by
the cross. And therefore no sin is too great for Him not
to forgive neither is any problem too big for Him to
understand. He loves us more than we can imagine.
Isaiah 53:10 [tlb]
But it was the Lord’s good plan to bruise him and fill him with
grief. However, when his soul has been made an offering for sin,
then he shall have a multitude of children, many heirs. He shall
live again, and God’s program shall prosper in his hands.
So now after being made a perfect man and
knowing both sides of the coin: good and evil, He made
75
Who is the Spirit of Christ
the perfect being. First He reconciled both Jews and
Gentiles with Himself:
Ephesians 2:14-16 [amp]
For He is [Himself] our peace (our bond of unity and
harmony). He has made us both [Jew and Gentile] one [body], and
has broken down (destroyed, abolished) the hostile dividing wall
between us,
By abolishing in His [own crucified] flesh the enmity [caused
by] the Law with its decrees and ordinances [which He annulled];
that He from the two might create in Himself one new man [one new
quality of humanity out of the two], so making peace.
And [He designed] to reconcile to God both [Jew and Gentile,
united] in a single body by means of His cross, thereby killing the
mutual enmity and bringing the feud to an end.
Then He reconciled Himself with the Father. The
Father with all his glory and power entered Jesus Christ,
Colossians 1:19 [TLB]
for God wanted all of himself to be in his Son
76
in
Who is the Spirit of Christ
whom every person resides [Ephesians 2:14] and with
love, He knitted together the perfect being that knows
both good and evil, has all power and authority and can
fully express God:
Colossians 2:9-10 [amp]
For in Him the whole fullness of Deity (the Godhead) continues
to dwell in bodily form [giving complete expression of the divine
nature]. And you are in Him, made full and having come to fullness
of life [in Christ you too are filled with the Godhead—Father, Son and
Holy Spirit—and reach full spiritual stature]. And He is the Head of
all rule and authority [of every angelic principality and power].
This is the man Jesus made and this perfect being
sat and sits! On the throne above all powers and rulers:
Ephesians 2:6 [amp]
And He raised us up together with Him and made us sit down
together [giving us joint seating with Him] in the heavenly sphere [by
virtue of our being] in Christ Jesus (the Messiah, the Anointed One).
In heaven on the throne of ages sits the new man.
This man is Jesus together with all His saints. He is the
head [Ephesians 5:23] and we are His body:
Ephesians 5:30 [kjv]

SECTION IV:
WHAT HE MADE US
79
Who is the Spirit of Christ
WHAT HE MADE US
Being one with the Lord Jesus makes us better than
we were before. It makes us receive God’s authority. We
have His nature too. And all this qualifies us into
divinity. It makes us the Kings and Priests of God
[Revelation 1:6]. The Apostle Paul wrote:
Ephesians 2:5 [amp]
Even when we were dead (slain) by [our own]
shortcomings and trespasses, He made us alive together in
fellowship and in union with Christ; [He gave us the very life of Christ
Himself, the same new life with which He quickened Him, for] it is by
grace (His favor and mercy which you did not deserve) that you are
saved (delivered from judgment and made partakers of Christ’s
salvation).
The Lord made us enter into His glorious life. We
are literarily in His class. He has given us, both male and
female, the power to change situations, have the
instincts of God and live a good life.
80
Who is the Spirit of Christ
WE REIGN WITH HIM
Through our precious Lord and Savior, who loves
us so dearly, we have become what God planned to
create since time began. Our Father who rules by love
showed the greatest kind of glory which is to give His
best and His all [John 3:16].
We see Him take a special place of glory. His honor
is incomprehensible. He did all of this not because He
wants to be seen or take all the glory or credit, but
because He loves us so much.
He says that He is the vine and we are the branches.
When you observe a tree you would realize that its glory
is not in the stem, but in the branches!
John 15:5 [kjv]
I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and
I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can
do nothing.
The Lord delights in His dream, He delights in His
glory. And that glory is you and me:
Isaiah 43:7 [amp]
Even everyone who is called by My name, whom I have created
for My glory, whom I have formed, whom I have made.
81
Who is the Spirit of Christ
He takes glory in seeing us glorified. We are His
trophies and priced possessions. Jesus wants all creation
to know that He loves us so dearly. He wants the world
to know that we are one with Him [John 17:22-23]. He
glories in us. When we are happy then He is happy
[Psalms 35:27], that is what our loving Father takes glory
in:
Zephaniah 3:17 [amp]
The Lord your God is in the midst of you, a Mighty One, a
Savior [Who saves]! He will rejoice over you with joy; He will rest [in
silent satisfaction] and in His love He will be silent and make no
mention [of past sins, or even recall them]; He will exult over you with
singing.
When we become what He is then He is glorified,
He wants us to be the symbol of His good work. He
wants us to be the ones doing the deeds of love, power
and righteousness:
Ephesians 2:10 [amp]
For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship),
recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good
works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking
paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in
82
Who is the Spirit of Christ
them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for
us to live].
He is honored when we become His image and
likeness. When He created us anew in His throne, He
positioned us to one purpose. That purpose is to do
good to all creation by revealing the love, life and
goodness of God to the fullest in all things, not only in
this age, but also in the ages to come. We were recreated
to reign with Him and do the good works that He does:
Ephesians 3:10 [amp]
[The purpose is] that through the church the complicated,
many-sided wisdom of God in all its infinite variety and innumerable
aspects might now be made known to the angelic rulers and
authorities (principalities and powers) in the heavenly sphere.
God's dream and glory is to be revealed in a person:
Colossians 1:26-27 [amp]
The mystery of which was hidden for ages and generations
[ from angels and men], but is now revealed to His holy people (the
saints), To whom God was pleased to make known how great for the
Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ
within and among you, the Hope of [realizing the] glory.
83
Who is the Spirit of Christ
The saints of Jesus Christ are literarily the portals
of heaven because He dwells inside them:
Genesis 28:17 [rsv]
And he was afraid, and said, “How awesome is this place! This
is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.”
That is why all creation is waiting for the Glory to
be revealed through His children:
Romans 8:19 [rsv]
For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of
the sons of God;
84
Who is the Spirit of Christ
WE HAVE HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS
Having been made one with God, we realize that
we have become righteous:
2 Corinthians 5:21 [niv]
God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in
him we might become the righteousness of God
This righteousness has come upon us because of
the blood of Jesus. In the blood of Jesus is the life of God.
When we believe in what Jesus Christ did, the blood of
Jesus starts working upon us [Romans 3:24-26]. We
start experiencing the instincts of God and our hearts
resonate with the heart of Jesus. This experience is
referred to as “having the mind of Christ”:
1 Corinthians 2:16 [amp]
For who has known or understood the mind (the counsels
and purposes) of the Lord so as to guide and instruct Him and give
Him knowledge? But we have the mind of Christ (the
85
Who is the Spirit of Christ
Messiah) and do hold the thoughts (feelings and purposes) of His
heart.
Literarily we start behaving like God because “it’s
in our blood”, it’s in our nature. The nature of God
which is to love unconditionally, expressing kindness,
hope, helping the needy, power, mercy and grace. All
these and more are characteristics of the nature of God.
This divine nature is called righteousness. Its true source
comes from the blood of Jesus which carries the life of
God.
If the Apostles lived in this age they would describe
righteousness as ‘The God DNA’ that unravels
throughout your life from the time you got born again
[1 John 3:9]. Solomon speaks of it in relevance to a path.
He calls it the path of righteousness:
Proverbs 4:18 [rsv]
But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn,
which shines brighter and brighter until full day.
A person can have this nature but still fall in
temptation. That does not mean they do not have it.
86
Who is the Spirit of Christ
Instead they know what they have done is wrong and
that they should change. This nature grows within us. Its
growth process takes time to develop. For example, a
baby that has been born does not walk on the first days,
but over time, as it grows up in the presence of people it
learns to walk. The child may stagger and fall, but that
does not make it cease to have the human DNA. The
baby, rather, is on a journey to discovering who it is and
what it can accomplish. Until it reaches maturity then it
can do what it was meant to do.
Having the above analogy in mind, we know we
have God’s DNA unraveling inside of us and when we
might fall or stagger, we do not cease to have God’s
nature. A person who has fallen down should rise up,
dust off himself and keep on walking in the likeness of
his Father till he or she grows to full stature:
Galatians 4:1 [kjv]
Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth
nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all; But is under tutors
and governors until the time appointed of the father.
87
Who is the Spirit of Christ
When a person receives the righteousness of God,
he or she qualifies for divinity and heaven. It is this
nature that determines whether a man or woman can go
to heaven or hell.
The people that have this nature do good not to
receive a reward, but because they want to do good.
Their motives are always right. This nature is selfless
and full of love. John, one of the closest disciple of Jesus
tried to explain this righteousness and he put it this way:
1 John 3:9-10 [amp]
No one born (begotten) of God [deliberately, knowingly,
and habitually] practices sin, for God’s nature abides in him [His
principle of life, the divine sperm, remains permanently within him];
and he cannot practice sinning because he is born (begotten) of God.
By this it is made clear who take their nature from
God and are His children and who take their nature from the
devil and are his children: no one who does not practice
righteousness [who does not conform to God’s will in purpose,
88
Who is the Spirit of Christ
thought, and action] is of God; neither is anyone who does not love
his brother (his fellow believer in Christ).
John calls this righteous nature the seed of God [1
John 3:9]. It makes a person have the nature and
instincts of God.
Everything a righteous person does was
predestined [Psalms 37:23-24]. When you receive this
righteousness anything that happens to you, whether it
may seem good or evil, it is working for your good
[Romans 8:28]. It makes you synchronized with His
will.
It is my prayer that it unravels upon you to the
perfect day.
89
Who is the Spirit of Christ
WE HAVE RECEIVED EVERYTHING
IN HIM
Having understood that we have received the
righteousness of God, we know that we deserve the
goodness of God. But we need to know how to receive
God's goodness.
His goodness is commonly known as His blessings.
They are innumerable: healing, liberty, wisdom,
material possession and happiness are some of His
manifested blessings that are seen naturally. But there is
more to it than meets the eye.
When Paul speaks of blessings, he speaks of it as
being a single thing:
Romans 15:29 [amp]
And I am sure that, when I come unto you, I shall come in the
fullness of the blessing of the gospel of Christ
He does not refer to the blessing that is seen by the
eye. He speaks of an inward blessing. It is a spiritual
blessing that he refers to and that blessing is Jesus Christ,
the Son of God. When a person receives Jesus Christ, he
or she has received 'The Fullness of the Blessing'.
90
Who is the Spirit of Christ
Everything that we need in life is encoded in Jesus
the Son of God. When Paul wanted to go to Rome He
would preach about Jesus Christ and as they heard about
this man and understood Him the blessings of God
would come to them in fullness.
The scriptures show the way to receiving the
goodness of God and manifesting that blessing is by
knowing and understanding Jesus because in Him is
every kind of blessing:
Colossians 2:2-3 [amp]
[For my concern is] that their hearts may be braced
(comforted, cheered, and encouraged) as they are knit together in
love, that they may come to have all the abounding
wealth and blessings of assured conviction of understanding, and
that they may become progressively more intimately acquainted
with and may know more definitely and accurately and thoroughly
that mystic secret of God, [which is] Christ (the Anointed One). In
Him all the treasures of [divine] wisdom (comprehensive insight into
the ways and purposes of God) and [all the riches of spiritual]
knowledge and enlightenment are stored up and lie hidden.
The way to receive God's goodness is not by
91
Who is the Spirit of Christ
irrational means. No one can force a blessing. God's
goodness is received by looking at Jesus.
This principle of looking has been used from the
days of the Old Testament. When the Israelites became
poisoned in the desert, all they had to do was to look at
the image of a bronze snake and receive their healing
[Numbers 21:9].
In the same way God has raised up His Word who
is Jesus Christ. When we look at Him, we are
transformed into what we see. When we see Jesus all
powerful, His power is divinely manifested in our lives:
2 Corinthians 3:18 [amp]
And all of us, as with unveiled face, [because we] continued to
behold [in the Word of God] as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are
constantly being transfigured into His very own image in ever
increasing splendor and from one degree of glory to another; [for this
comes] from the Lord [Who is] the Spirit.
The Word of God is able to transform a person. We
receive from God by reading His word and seeing the
kind of person that He is. Once we start seeing Him that
way then we have a relationship with Him, and His
92
Who is the Spirit of Christ
power transmits from Him to us. His radiating glory
continually changes us to become more like Him,
according to the intensity with which He is revealed and
how much we see Him.
Whenever you see Jesus full of wisdom, you qualify
to receive it, that attribute of wisdom automatically starts
flowing in you. When you see Jesus rich, you become
rich, when you see him strong you become strong,
healthy and you become healthy, powerful and you
become powerful, loving and you become love.
Everything becomes available to you just as long as you
see Him having it. On the day He comes back, we will
get to fully see Him in and we will be transformed to be
exactly like Him:
1 John 3:2 [kjv]
Beloved, now we are the sons of God, and it doth not yet
appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we
shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
There was a disciple of Jesus that had a remarkable
experience with Him. His name was Peter. Peter was in
the face of a storm and when the boat was hit by violent
waves, he managed to look at a place where there was
hope. It was Jesus. This man defied the laws of physics as
93
Who is the Spirit of Christ
He stood on the raging waters as though it was dry
ground. Peter glanced from the distance and saw the
impossible. He wanted to do it too! As he looked at what
Jesus was able to do, that remarkable power that he saw
was transmitted to him and he too was able to walk on
the water [Mathew 14:22-33]. His constant experiences
with Jesus made him write:
2 Peter 1:3 [rsv]
His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to
life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his
own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious
and very great promises, that through these you may escape from
the corruption that is in the world because of passion, and become
partakers of the divine nature.
Anything Jesus can do, you can do as long as you
are able to see Him do it. Anything Jesus has, you can
have as long as you see Him having it. That is how we tap
into His divine power, by seeing Him with our hearts:
Philippians 4:13 [kjv]
94
Who is the Spirit of Christ
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
95
Who is the Spirit of Christ
SECTION V:
HOW HE WORKS IN US
96
Who is the Spirit of Christ
HOW HE WORKS IN US
Our precious Jesus is so much wonderful. In spite
of giving us all this divine privileges, He wants to help us
know how to use them and how to walk in them.
There are ways that a person who believes in Jesus
should live by. They should cease to live as though they
are of this world, because they are born again. They are
a new creature [2 Corinthians 5:16-17]. They operate on
a higher consciousness. Paul wrote:
Colossians 3:1-2 [niv]
Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts
on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set
your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
Paul thoroughly emphasized on the importance of
becoming a spiritual man, not a carnal man. He
encouraged the people to raise their perception, have a
deep understanding of their consciousness and be able
to perceive beyond their normal senses. He writes:
1 Corinthians 2:12-14 [kjv]
Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit
which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given
97
Who is the Spirit of Christ
to us of God. Which things also we speak, not in the words which
man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth;
comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man
receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness
unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually
discerned.
Only a person who is spiritual can have spiritual
experiences because his or her spirit is alive in the things
of God.
The spiritual world is an unseen realm and is far
greater than the natural one. There are forces, mindsets
and principalities that a person must break through in
order to see the Lord and become changed [2
Corinthians 10:3-5]. Jesus can be perceived only in the
realm of the spirit. When our eyes are opened to see Him
then we can be changed.
There was a man called Nicodemus who observed
Jesus and His miracles. When he came and explained to
Jesus what He had observed, the Lord advised Him that
the way he could also experience what He experienced
was to be born of the Spirit [John 3:1-21]:
John 3:3 [amp]
98
Who is the Spirit of Christ
Jesus answered him, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, that
unless a person is born again (anew, from above), he cannot ever see
(know, be acquainted with, and experience) the kingdom of God.
There were people who were recorded to be
constantly spiritual to the point they transcended the
physical realm and entered into the realm of the spirit.
People such as Elijah, Moses, Enoch, Daniel, and John
(one of the closest disciples of Jesus). What was recorded
about them could simply be described as supernatural
because they had learnt how to connect the spiritual
world with the natural world.
In the spirit world, there are principles of life that
the Holy Spirit would teach anyone who continuously
walks in the realm of the spirit [Romans 8]:
Romans 8:13-14 [amp]
For if you live according to [the dictates of] the flesh, you will
surely die. But if through the power of the [Holy] Spirit you are
[habitually] putting to death (making extinct, deadening) the [evil]
deeds prompted by the body, you shall [really and genuinely] live
forever. For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.
99
Who is the Spirit of Christ
BE FILLED WITH THE
HOLYSPIRIT
When a man believes and understands that Jesus
Christ is the Son of God, He came to the world, died and
rose again and he or she confesses with his or her own
mouth this truth, they receive salvation [Romans 10:9].
He or she is once again connected to the source of all life
[John 7:38]. The source of every living thing and present
thing is the Spirit of God. He is the one who imparts life
to all things and makes existence possible. For Jesus said:
John 6:63 [niv]
The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I
have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life.
The Spirit filled person starts working with that
power; that life giving ability that the Father has. When
they speak or do anything or touch anything, the power
that is inside them infuses with the action that they are
doing or speaking or even the mere act of thinking
about. That is the power of the Spirit of God, when He
comes upon something that thing receives life:
Romans 8:11 [niv]
100
Who is the Spirit of Christ
And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living
in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your
mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.
What is done by the person automatically has life
and multiplying too [Isaiah 32:15]. Having the Spirit of
God is having the glory of God within us. He brings the
presence of God and therefore known as the angel of His
presence [Isaiah 63:9].
The Holy Spirit is the person of God the Father and
His consciousness. He is in His fullness in you. He is the
power behind all of Christianity and that is why He is
important. He pours out power and life, in fact He is that
life itself and power. Jesus Christ knew the Spirit’s work
and how He would help the believers. He told the
disciples:
John 7:38 [niv]
Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living
water will flow from within them.”
The Spirit of God resides in your heart because of
what Jesus Christ did by the cross, but He does not want
to sit there hidden. He wants to overflow from your
heart, to your mind, to your body and to the world
101
Who is the Spirit of Christ
around you. When you know how to make Him
overflow nothing could possibly stop you. Every dream
is realized and every dead thing is resurrected.
Everything that you touch receives His power and the
words you speak become true.
When He starts flowing into your mind you
become intelligent and imparted with divine wisdom,
knowledge and revelation. No problem becomes
difficult to solve. When He starts flowing to your body,
every illness is cured and life imparted to what was dead.
What was not there springs forth.
When He enters into your world, everything
becomes subject to Him and all creation rejoices [Psalms
68:1]. That is why all creation is waiting for the children
of God to be manifested by the power of the Spirit and
in turn bring life to the dying world [Romans 8:19].
When Paul wrote to Timothy, he told him to stir up
the gift that was inside him [2nd Timothy 1:6]. This was
the expression of the power of the Holy Spirit. It is
referred to as being "filled with the Spirit" where His
power transcends from your spirit and fills you and the
world around you:
Ephesians 5:18 [kjv]
102
Who is the Spirit of Christ
And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled
with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and
spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the
name of our Lord Jesus Christ; Submitting yourselves one to another
in the fear of God.
As Paul describes the way to be filled with the Spirit
(both to the male and female), he describes it as an
action that comes from the heart. He explains an
intimacy with Jesus where you start talking about Him
and even singing about Him; with words and melodies
that you cannot explain because of the amazing
experience you have in your heart. This is not being
emotional although His power can overwhelm your
emotions too.
This expression is a kind of worship that the Lord
describes as ‘worshiping in truth and in Spirit’ [John
4:23]. This kind of worship comes from the heart and
cannot be explained by the mind, but you know from
your heart. This worship enlightens the perception of
your Spirit and makes you elevated in a plane where you
103
Who is the Spirit of Christ
experience God. It is a boggling thing to the mind to
comprehend this, but your spirit that is now enlightened
can experience God, His kingdom and His life.
What happens in worship is a continuous
impartation where heaven and earth become one to you,
and then the supernatural happens.
Speaking in tongues and speaking the word of God
greatly connects our spirits with the spirit world [1
Corinthians 14:2]. When we speak in tongues we speak
what God is speaking and automatically we are
synchronized with His perfect will. This is because the
words that come from the mouth direct a person [James
3:4-5]. When that part of a person is moving by divine
inspiration, the person speaking is going to be both
consciously and subconsciously directed to God's will.
The thoughts, words and deeds that he or she portrays
afterwards are going to be divinely oriented by God.
These actions are also going to have power and life over
them. Nothing you touch can ever fail. Everything you
touch will be blessed:
Deuteronomy 2:7 [amp]
For the Lord your God has blessed you in all the work of your
hand. He knows your walking through this great wilderness. These
104
Who is the Spirit of Christ
forty years the Lord your God has been with you; you have lacked
nothing.
When we allow God to arise in us and the material
world often, then we see what He has said concerning us
become true. Life enters and death flees:
Psalms 68:1 [kjv]
Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered: let them also that
hate him flee before him.
When we speak what He is speaking we have a
relationship with Him. It is as two people who have a
meeting and on a table; they raise up ideas and issues. If
they have a similar cause and plan things together, they
have a relationship. The results or their "fruit” appear
afterwards when they engage in those plans together.
When people speak the same thing the Father
speaks, they have a relationship with Him and they start
bearing fruit and manifestations of the Spirit of God.
The fruit of the Spirit is the result of the
relationship between Jesus who is God and us. It is what
causes us to be loving, joyful, peaceful, patient, kind and
humble [John 15:5, Galatians 5:22-25].
What the Holy Spirit does in a person is very
105
Who is the Spirit of Christ
specific and powerful. No one can fully comprehend
what God can do if He allows Him to rise up and
manifest Himself in this world.
106
Who is the Spirit of Christ
REST
Having been filled with The Holy Spirit, only one
thing is required of you. When you do this one thing it
is certain that you will reach where Jesus has destined
you to be. It is the element needed in the transition from
receiving Christ to entering heaven.
The Lord revealed that one element when He gave
that parable of the lost sheep. When He described the
repentance of a sinner, He described it this way:
Luke 15:1-7 [kjv]
Then drew near unto him all the publicans and sinners for to
hear him. And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, This
man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them. And he spake this
parable unto them, saying, What man of you, having an hundred
sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in
the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it? And
when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And
when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and
neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my
sheep which was lost. I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in
107
Who is the Spirit of Christ
heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and
nine just persons, which need no repentance.
This is the parable of the good shepherd and the
lost sheep. The shepherd sought out after a lost sheep
and found it. It was the shepherd that carried this sheep
on His shoulder, took it back home and everyone
celebrated.
The shepherd is a symbolic picture of our master,
Jesus. Having seen everything done by the shepherd we
can learn what Jesus did and does. It was Jesus that came
to seek us who were lost in sin. It is Jesus who carries
everyone on His strong shoulders. It is Jesus who will
make us reach heaven our home. It is Jesus, our
Husband, who makes the party and everyone gets to
celebrate.
God has made everything possible and also wants
to do more for you. Studying the parable of the lost
sheep, we see the sheep, which symbolizes us doing only
one thing. The sheep rested on the shoulders of the
shepherd.
Jesus stressed out on the issue of letting go of all
you cares because worrying will not add anything:
Luke 12:22-26 [niv]
108
Who is the Spirit of Christ
Then Jesus said to his disciples: “Therefore I tell you, do not
worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you
will wear. For life is more than food, and the body more than
clothes. Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no
storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more
valuable you are than birds! Who of you by worrying can add a
single hour to your life?
Once Jesus comes to a person, He carries that
person. No one ever found himself or herself. It is Jesus
who finds people. And when He finds a person (by the
preaching of the Gospel), He carries that person on His
strong shoulders. The strengths or weaknesses of that
sheep don't really matter, only Jesus matters. When you
rest upon His shoulders, He does the rest.
He promises to sanctify us and take us to heaven.
He will do it, not us. It is Him who does it. He qualifies
us and makes us perfect. Only lean on Him and let Him
do His work:
1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 [kjv]
And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God
your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the

coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is he that calleth you, who
also will do it.
His rest and peace is not sleeping or relaxing all the
time, but understanding that He is in control; and that
everything that happens is happening for your good
[Romans 8:28-39].

FULFILL THE DESIRES
OF YOUR HEART
Now that you have known who the Holy Spirit is
and that you really need rest, your next question would
be or rather should be, “What do I do next? How do I
use all this power made available, to be what God
destined me to be?” That's a wonderful question to ask.
It shows that your heart is right and you are willing to
follow God.
First you must understand that the Lord is not
mysterious to His children. He declares that He is light;
and light always gives insight [1 John 1:5].
Once you accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour, He
starts speaking continuously to you. The greatest reason
why many people don't follow Him is not because they
do not want to, it's because they cannot perceive it [Job
33:14].
There is a man named Saul from whom we can
learn how God speaks to us. He was the first king of
Israel. Saul was instructed by the prophet Samuel on how
111
Who is the Spirit of Christ
God was going to use him. Which would be after he had
been anointed:
1 Samuel 10:6-7[niv]
The Spirit of the LORD will come powerfully upon you, and you
will prophesy with them; and you will be changed into a different
person. Once these signs are fulfilled, do whatever your hand finds to
do, for God is with you.
Basically, Samuel told Saul that after the Holy Spirit
came upon him, he would be changed into a different
man. That meant that his heart would be changed. And
after he was changed, he would do something else which
was to “DO WHATEVER YOUR HANDS FIND TO
DO.” Samuel was telling him to follow his instincts and
the desires of his heart for God was with him. Everything
Saul wanted or desired, that was God who placed that
want or desire in his heart. It was not difficult to follow
God because his heart loved to do it.
When Jesus comes into your heart the same thing
that happened to Saul happens to you. You become
changed into a different person. The nature of God and
the principles of life start working upon you:
2 Corinthians 5:17 [kjv]
112
Who is the Spirit of Christ
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old
things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
And how do you allow God to work in you? You
just have to do what Saul was told. Follow the desires of
your heart. Jesus knows that the only way that you'll
follow Him and do a particular assignment for Him is
that if He puts that work as desire in your heart. If it's not
in your heart, you would never do that assignment He
had in mind for you. That is why in the new covenant He
shows us how much good He is and tells us that He will
write that desire in our hearts and minds and that we will
follow:
Jeremiah 31:33 [kjv]
But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house
of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their
inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and
they shall be my people.
In the New Testament the same principle is seen:
1 Timothy 3:1 [KJV]
This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he
113
Who is the Spirit of Christ
desireth a good work.
Paul addressing Timothy, shows him how works
are attended to. First he expects that a person should be
drawn to that work by his or her desire. He afterwards
shows how the bishop should behave. He remarkably
states that that person's desire is good; and everything
good comes from God [James 1:17].
Of course everyone is unique and different. The
Lord Jesus leads them personally. All for His glory and
love. One would want to be an evangelist, another a
pastor, another an author. To another, God wants him or
her to be a financier of the gospel so God drives his or
her heart into the corporate world. You could even be
called into all this areas depending on the grace and
talents God has given you.
Doctors, engineers, innovators, scientists,
teachers, businessmen, sportsmen, actors, ushers; (this
list is endless); all are led by God and when they are
joined in love and purpose nothing can stop them. The
Lord does not speak only in career wise terms, He also
gives insights to everything that concerns you.
But in all these let us remember why Saul fell short.
It is because he stopped following his instincts and
114
Who is the Spirit of Christ
started listening to what other people had to say.
There was a mission given to Saul [1 Samuel 15].
He was to destroy everything the Amalekites had and
kill every single one of them. He did that well, but missed
the spot. He spared the king and the best of cattle. Why
did He spare the king? The truth is that Saul wanted to
kill him and the cattle, but his men told him not to and
he listened:
1 Samuel 15:24 [kjv]
And Saul said unto Samuel, I have sinned: for I have
transgressed the commandment of the LORD, and thy words: because
I feared the people, and obeyed their voice.
The same challenges Saul faced are the same
challenges we face today. The fear of man has been the
greatest hindrance to God’s will. It made Saul abandon
God’s destiny. In the walk of faith there will always be
challenges mainly caused by the fear of how people
would look at you, especially your closest friends.
Fearing men would not only limit our destiny, but also
limit those of whom we were called to serve. And
because of this God would raise another who is ready to
serve with a relentless heart.
115
Who is the Spirit of Christ
Samuel told him afterwards that God would
choose someone else who was better than him:
1 Samuel 15:28 [kjv]
And Samuel said unto him, The LORD hath rent the kingdom
of Israel from thee this day, and hath given it to a neighbour of thine,
that is better than thou.
His name was David. The only reason David was
better than Saul was because David did not consider
what people said or thought of him. As long as he
followed his inward intuition and listened to God's
word, that’s all he needed to follow.
Years passed and Saul knowing David was next in
line to the throne, he wanted to kill Him. Saul then
sought him out. David ran for his life and hid in a cave
together with his men. Funny how Saul came into the
same cave and camped there too. [1 Samuel 24]
Now the tables had turned, it was Saul in the hands
of David. David had all the reasons, outer voices and
weaponry to kill Saul, but he never considered them. In
fact his friends said that it was the will of God that Saul
should die! [1 Samuel 24:4] They told David how God
had placed Saul in his hands! But David refused to
consider all that because his heart would not let him. He
116
Who is the Spirit of Christ
had learnt to perceive his intuition:
1 Samuel 24:6-7 [niv]
He said to his men, “The LORD forbid that I should do such a
thing to my master, the LORD’s anointed, or lay my hand on him; for
he is the anointed of the LORD.” With these words David sharply
rebuked his men and did not allow them to attack Saul. And Saul
left the cave and went his way.
He listened to that inward intuition. He knew very
well that killing a person who was chosen by God was an
evil thing. When Saul realized that David had the
opportunity and favorable conditions to kill him yet
spared him, this is what he had to say:
1 Samuel 24:17,20 [tlb]
And he said to David, “You are a better man than I am, for you
have repaid me good for evil...And now I realize that you are surely
going to be king, and Israel shall be yours to rule.
David followed his inward intuition. Every one of
us, like Saul and David, has intuitions and instincts that
are specific from the Holy Spirit. Maybe you are doing
something that you are sure you don't want. All your
guts are against it. Or you have been having a dream that
117
Who is the Spirit of Christ
you believe in and it keeps haunting you. That is God
speaking. Follow His voice, get in line with that desire.
Do not let people's voices or your current conditions talk
you out.
As soon as you start walking by that leading of the
Holy Spirit you find peace and rest with God and
yourself. Surely not everyone is going to be with you, but
the important thing is that you will be doing what you
were made to do.
1 John 5:3 [amp]
For the [true] love of God is this: that we do His commands
[keep His ordinances and are mindful of His precepts and teaching].
And these orders of His are not irksome (burdensome, oppressive, or
grievous).
You will love it! John says that the commandments
of Jesus are not grievous. He discovered that He was led
by the Holy Spirit through his intuitions and he loved
them. He constantly expressed his desire and
materialized his dreams and by doing so he found joy,
happiness and love.
This desire comes to you when you accept Jesus as
Lord. He will will you to do what is right and perfect:
Philippians 2:13 [nlt]
118
Who is the Spirit of Christ
For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power
to do what pleases him.
The common thing about everyone's desire is that
all of them are directed to the ministry Jesus left for us.
Which is to reconcile all of creation back to God by
showing them who Jesus Christ is and what He has
already done [2 Corinthians 5:18-20]. We are to bring
life to the world and destroy evil.
Trust your heart Jesus is with you:
Proverbs 21:1 [tlb]
Just as water is turned into irrigation ditches, so the Lord
directs the king’s thoughts. He turns them wherever he wants to.
