Mitch Park & Rankin YMCA Day Camp Program Overview
Day camp incorporates our focus areas of Youth Development through team building, character development and
literacy; Healthy Living through physical fitness, nutrition lessons and Social Responsibility by participating in service
projects and community awareness. We provide fun-filled activities that allow for physical involvement, social
interaction, educational opportunities, leadership building, personal growth and creativity. Da y campers will be
divided into groups by age with activities appropriate to the interests and needs of each group.
CAMP MITCH PARK
We provide fun-filled activities that allow for physical involvement, social interaction, educational opportunities,
leadership building, personal growth and creativity. Day campers will be divided into groups by age with activities
appropriate to the interests and needs of each group.
Weekly specialty camps are what make Camp Mitch Park unique (see specialty camp insert ).
Field trip day: Friday. Lunch/Afternoon snack is not provided.
CAMP TRIPLE C
Drop off/pickup at Mitch Park Y.
Camp Triple C is unique with its extreme outdoor activities available at the camp site. It is best described as an
overnight camp out done during the day.
Field trip day: Wednesday. Lunch/ Afternoon snack is not provided.
Camp Triple C leaves at 8:30a.m. Offsite camp children must be signed-in no later than 8:15a.m. Children arriving
after that time will not be permitted to stay or dropped off at the offsite location..
CAMP E.L.I.T.E
“Empowering Leaders in Teamwork & Education” This teen leadership program is for youth looking to grow as a
responsible leader while building confidence and self-worth. Youth will learn teamwork, service, child guidance and
decision making skills through activities and mentoring during the summer. Limited spots are available. Prior to first
day of camp, parents and camper will be required to attend a Camp E.L.I.T.E. information meeting. Please contact the
Youth & Family Director or department Coordinator for more information.
Camper drop off is at both Y locations: Mitch Park Y and Rankin Y
Service learning activity: Monday. Field trip day: Tuesday. Lunch/Afternoon snack is not provided.
CAMP RANKIN
We provide fun-filled activities that allow for physical involvement, social interaction, educational opportunities,
leadership building, personal growth and creativity. Day campers will be divided into groups by age with activities
appropriate to the interests and needs of each group.
Weekly specialty camps are what make Camp Rankin unique (see specialty camp insert).
Field trip day: Thursday. Lunch/Afternoon snack is provided through the Summer Feeding Service Program. DHS
subsidy contract: 26261.
CAMP L.E.A.D.
Drop off/pickup at Rankin Y.
L.E.A.D. camp is all about Lead, Esteem, Attitude and Determination. Weekly sports camps are what make Camp
L.E.A.D. unique.
Field trip day: Wednesday. Off-site camps leave at 8:30a.m.
Camp L.E.A.D. leaves at 8:30a.m. Offsite camp children must be signed -in no later than 8:15a.m. Children arriving
after that time will not be permitted to stay or dropped off at the offsite location.
Specialty Camps
Offered at Mitch Park and Rankin Camp locations only
Specialty camps are great for those looking to participate in their ‘favorites’ or to learn something new! Campers will
spend at least 1 hour per day 3 days of the week focusing on their specialty camp during normal weekly camps.
Fee: $10 due at time of camp registration for each specialty camp
June 1-5 GET YOUR GAME ON!
CALLING ALL GAMERS! Campers will play a variety of strategic board games, such as chess, checkers, battle ship and
many more, while learning, sharing tips and competing against other campers and their counselors.
June 8-12 SCIENCE CAMP
Bugs, tornados and inventions! Get ready to mix up some fun at Science Camp! Campers will study the environment,
weather, physics, astronomy, bugs, and wildlife - the possibilities are endless at Science Camp.
June 15-19 VBS-Vacation Bible School
Campers will have the opportunity to attend vacation bible school at Henderson Hills Baptist church. Campers who
are enrolled with Camp Mitch Park and Camp Rankin can register for VBS and will be transported from the Y to
Henderson Hill Baptist church. Parent is required to register online with Henderson Hills Baptist church for camper to
participate in VBS.
June 22-26 CAMP CHEFS
Learn the basics of cooking at the YMCA! Campers will experiment with different cooking themes and make fu n finger
foods, delicious dessert creations, and crazy cuisines. No oven required. In a fun environment, campers will learn the
values of eating fruits, vegetables, whole grains and more!
June 29 – July 3 CHEERLEADING CAMP
Campers get quality cheerleading instruction in an environment that is nurturing, positive and creative. Campers learn
cheerleading basics such as cheer chants, jumps and stretches.
July 6-10 CLUB ETIQUETTE
Manners make life more pleasant for everyone. Good ta ble manners, pleasant conversation skills, choosing the right
attire to go out - never go out of style. Prepare your child for the future today, with Club Etiquette geared to improve
their attitude and self-confidence, while they have fun doing it. Etiquette hasn't gone out of style, it just needs to be
taught and reinforced. Our camp makes learning etiquette fun.
July 13 -17 TUMBLING
Campers will learn the safe and correct way to bend, roll, climb and flip. It also helps them develop their motor skills
and creativity. Don’t miss out on the fun.
July 20- 24 TRASH CAN BAND
Strike up the band! For our campers, this camp will teach your child the basics of music. Campers will create their own
musical instruments and put on a performance for campers!
July 27 – 31 FITNESS FANATICS
Get up and get your move on! Campers will learn the various exercises and stretches that will make them lean, mean
and enthusiastic machines!
Aug. 3 – 7 BACKYARD BASH
Summertime classics games and activities will be played with your friends to keep you entertained in the fun summer
sun! Barbeque Bash on Friday!
