|directories, and job postings.
Networking and Collaboration
GIM Connect is SGIM’s online members-only
community and will act as your virtual hub for
most SGIM member benefits. As a member,
you will have access to society news, events
and activities, and over 70 member-only interest groups (you can even start your
own interest group!) where the best in academic GIM currently discuss topics,
including health policy, clinical practice, and research in clinical outcomes, health
services, and medical education. All student, resident, and fellow members
are automatically included in our Student-Resident-Fellow (SRF) Forum!
This allows members at the trainee level to collaborate in an open and
secure environment about topics that interest you most.
Meetings and Opportunities to Present
A core goal of SGIM is to foster professional interaction among leading academic
researchers, general internists, and trainees. No matter the format or topic, SGIM
regional and national meetings are peer-driven by member-based communities to
help ensure members’ interests are met and best practices shared. In 2014
alone, almost 800 students, residents and fellows attended the national
annual meeting, with over 500 presenting their work!
Publications
As a member, you will have access to and
receive copies of SGIM publications. These
include the FORUM – SGIM’s monthly
members’ newsletter, the Journal of General
Internal Medicine (JGIM), and a quarterly
publication of The ACLGIM Leadership Forum, addressing issues of leadership in
medicine. JGIM was recently ranked #1 in impact among primary care journals
according to Google Scholar’s h5 index. The Journal’s impact factor continues to
increase.
