Date: 8 May 2015 No: 30 Welcome to Ashlyns’ e-Bulletin. School life is always busy, so here are a few reminders about events that have happened and events to come. Good Luck to all students taking exams over the coming weeks. The new School Day Timetable is now in operation (see below). Next Week (Week 1) Y12 Study Leave begins Y8 Assessment Week This Week’s News th Students and staff marked the 70 anniversary of VE Day with a minute’s silence this afternoon after which each class watched Churchill’s VE Day speech to commemorate the occasion. Appointment of Head Boy and Head Girl Following the hustings, student and staff votes, interviews with Ms O'Driscoll and consultation with the Sixth Form Executive, the Senior Leadership Team and Mr Shapland, we are delighted to appoint the following posts: Laura Thornton and Harry Day (Senior Members of Sixth Form Executive), Tara Chaussalet (Deputy Head Girl), Michael Allington (Deputy Head Boy), Molly Westwood (Head Girl) and Danny Ritchie (Head Boy). Election Fever Ashlyns held a mock election on Tuesday after several days of campaigning by 6th Form Politics volunteers. There was unprecedented demand for ballot papers and, after the count, the Conservative Party were victorious (just like the real thing!). The aim of the Politics Department was to raise awareness amongst our younger students - mission accomplished!
