Moms Coming Together: More than Milk Group Volunteers with RAPPP

other moms were part of a Mother’s
Day Celebration held at Bubbles
Academy for RAPPP (Response
Ability Pregnant and Parenting
Program), The Night Ministry’s
shelter for pregnant and parenting
youth. Bubbles Academy is a child
enrichment and activity center
located in Chicago’s Lincoln Park.
The event was an effort coordinated
by a non-profit organization called
More than Milk.
More than Milk is a group of
Chicago moms who support local
charities through volunteer projects,

awareness-building, and fundraising
events - all with their babies and kids
in tow! More than Milk coordinated
the event at Bubbles Academy for
moms at RAPPP, complete with
lunch, a delicious donated cake, a
sing along led by a Bubbles teacher,
and gift bags for each young mom.

“We like to get all our kids together
and do a natural ‘get to know each
other’ kind of event. It’s important
for all of us that our children see

Sutcliffe.
The moms of More than Milk are
a fabulous group of women who
are eager to help. “We create kidfriendly opportunities for women to
give back. We want to take away the
barriers to getting involved as a new
mom,” said Sutcliffe.

than Milk’s designated charities for
this year, we appreciate their support
and look forward to working with

If you did, we want to say, “Thanks!” More than 400 supporters came out to the Four Seasons Chicago on Tuesday,
June 3 to join The Night Ministry in celebrating another successful year of service. Lamplighter Award honorees
Winston & Strawn LLP, Janine Landow-Esser and LakeView Lutheran Church shared stories of the impact of their
involvement with The Night Ministry. Master of ceremonies and Chicago Sun-Times columnist Neil Steinberg also
shared his own touching experience covering our programs in the news. To top it all off, Ken Perlmutter, Founder
and President of PERL Mortgage, Inc., served as Lighting up the Night 2014 Event Chair. This wonderful group led a
successful evening with more than $390,000 raised to support The Night Ministry’s Programs.

Sarah Brown, Case Manager working jointly with The Night Ministry and
StreetWise has been described by some supporters as, “possibly the busiest
women in Chicago.” Each year, The Night Ministry makes contacts with
more than 4,500 individuals on the streets of Chicago. Brown aids the most
vulnerable among them by offering referrals and guidance about housing,
health care, mental health and employment. Here, Brown reflects on the
