Our Purpose Wayside is a vibrant community of Christian warmth and joy, committed to Christ and to making Him known...where God is glorified through Growth of our Congregation, Care of the Souls entrusted to us, and Service to our neighbors. Our Core Values in a WORD: Word of God above all Outreach to our Community Relationships with all ages and stages of faith Development of devoted disciples. TODAY The annual meeting of Wayside Presbyterian Church will be held TODAY immediately following the 10:00 a.m. single worship service beginning with lunch. Wayside Presbyterian Church will hold its Annual Meeting of the Congregation on Sunday, February 8 immediately following the single 10:00 a.m. worship service. The purpose of the meeting is to receive the reports of the committees of Session and other organizations within the church, to review Session’s budget for 2015, to hear an update on the Indoor/Outdoor Project, and to conduct any other business that should properly come before the membership (none known at this time). The first order of business will be enjoying lunch with all present. Wednesday, February 11 12:00PM in the Atrium This month’s speaker is Richard Hertzler, a photo-journalist, who will share a collection of his photographic work done with a creative eye and his camera lens turned toward Lancaster’s historic architecture and the area’s bountiful natural wonders. Please bring a bag lunch (drinks provided) and join us! You do not have to be “senior” to enjoy our speaker and non-Waysiders are encouraged to attend! Next Sunday, February 15 4:00 - 6:00pm Please take flyers and small cards to hand out to your friends and family! There are plenty of posters left to hang up at neighborhood grocery stores and post offices! This is a free, community event and the Outreach Committee has been working very hard to make this a success! THANK YOU to the Kereczman family for hosting this year’s Super Bowl party! Everyone had a great time, down to the last play! Jill Reichert won the pool, Sue Weed won 2nd, and Frank Richards won left over Halloween Candy for coming in last…! We’ll look forward to next year! “Valentine’s Night” Wear something red or pink! Plan to join us next Sunday, February 15 at 10:30AM for a special celebration with Nancy & Dick Regensburger in the Atrium. Wayside will have the opportunity to meet the author of her just released E-Book, From Shame to Glory: Mothers in the Heritage of Jesus. The 10:30 a.m. fellowship time on this Sunday will be held in the atrium so that we can visit with member Nancy Regensburger and celebrate her latest work! Project EOCS: Encourage Our College Students We are sending packages of encouragement to our college students to remind them that their church family is thinking and praying for them while they are away at school. To participate simply place any of the following items in the EOCS container by Sunday, March 8th: Cards or notes Devotionals Encouraging/Inspirational magnets, bookmarkers, postcards, etc. Treats: Gum candy, bag of microwave popcorn, etc. Donation to cover cost of shipping Wayside will hold a Service of Ashes on Wednesday, February 18 at 6:30 p.m. in the atrium. The 45 minute service will feature congregational singing and songs by our LOGOS Kidz, anthem by the choir, and praise selection by our Grace Notes worship band. Pastor Steve will introduce this year’s theme for Lent, From Shame to Glory, based upon the new book by Nancy Regensburger by the same name, and the congregation will be given an opportunity to participate in a “silent witness” as the evening’s central message on transformation. Wayside has purchased an 80” monitor to be used during both worship services. A regular member of our contemporary service wrote this: “Much to my amazement, I stood in back of the church, after leaving Adult Sunday School, and was able to read every word on the monitor in the sanctuary. The lettering was black on yellow/gold. I will be experimenting with different locations, colors and fonts. I did decide that I do not see the screen well from the right side - wrong angle. I tried sitting on the choir side this Sunday, but the wording was not posted. As far as I am concerned, I think you have hit on an awesome bit of technology. ~Betty Lentz” Wayside Presbyterian Church has a lot of supportive, active members.
