passed away peacefully on
January 31, 2015 at age
93 in Langley, B.C. She
was predeceased by her
husband, Bob, and her
brother Ken Buxton. Elsie
will be dearly missed by
her children Heather (Moe)
Baile, Fern (Rick) Roach and
Bob (Heidi) Duncan, as well as
her 8 grandchildren (Andi, Megan, Ryan,
Alicia, Erin, Christie, Sarah and Allistair), 5
great grandchildren (Jordan, Aidan, Sydney,
Natalie and Wesley) and her two sisters,
Sheila Church and Mary Olson.
Elsie was born in Derbyshire, England in
1921 and immigrated to Canada at age 5.
She was raised in Bowden, Alberta and lived
and worked in Olds, Alberta for the first 20
years of her married life. Elsie was a strong,
independent lady, becoming one of the first
female pilots in Central Alberta. After moving
to Langley, she worked in accounting until
her retirement and then volunteered for many
years with the Hospital Auxiliary.
Elsie led a full and rewarding life and made a
significant impact on the lives of her family.
She lives on in the hearts of all she touched.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the
Langley Lodge for the special care they gave
her over the past six months. A celebration
of Elsie’s life will be held this summer in
Bowden, Alberta.
