Movement Makes Brain Mighty
Breakfast
Elementary - $1.25
Secondary - $1.50
K-12 Reduced - Free
Adult - $2.00
It doesn’t take much acvity to fire up the brain.
A lile walking or biking can do the trick.
In fact, researchers have found moderate acvity–like a
brisk walk around the school building—increases brain
acvity. This in turn can translate into beer test
performance.
Lunch
Elementary - $2.75
Secondary - $3.00
K-5 Reduced - Free
Adult without Milk - $3.25
Adult with Milk - $3.50
The results are included in a new report, “The Learning
Connecon, What you Need to Know to Ensure Your Kids
are Healthy and Ready to Learn,” published by Acon for
Healthy Kids.
“Simply put, physical acvity will help kids learn beer,” says Charles Hillman, Ph.D., associate
professor in the Department of Kinesiology and Community Health at the University of Illinois
Urbana-Champaign, in the report.
“There‘s nothing magical going on,” he said. “Physical acvity causes changes in the brain. As a
result, we’re seeing changes in behavior.”
The good news is that by encouraging physical acvity, you can play an important role in helping
your kids be as healthy and balanced as possible and reach their academic potenal.
Every lile bit counts, but the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services recommends that
young people aged 6–17 years get at least 60 minutes of physical acvity daily.
