If the Paynesville City Council determines that the price and

its installation in 2013.
“Upgrades to the splash pad
in the Gazebo Park have been
talked about almost since the
first splash,” Mayor Jeff
Thompson wrote in his Press
column in late January.
Thompson, along with councilors Neil Herzberg, Donovan
Mayer, and Jean Soine, voted
in favor of obtaining estimates for a potential splash
pad upgrade, while councilor
Kay McDaniel, declaring that
city finances preclude such a
project at this time, opposed.

Winter parking ban
in effect in city
The overnight parking ban
on all city streets is in effect.
The parking ban on residential streets started on Saturday,
Nov. 1, and will last until the
end of March. On all residential streets, the overnight
parking ban starts at 1 a.m.
and lasts until 6 a.m.
On downtown streets, the
year-round parking ban starts
at 3 a.m. and lasts until 6 a.m.
‘wow’ factor, the park and tree
board had recommended pursuing some potential upgrades
and obtaining price quotes.
Proposed upgrades to the
splash pad include: a 20-foot
water tower with a 30-gallon
bucket that dumps when full,
creating a 25-foot-diameter
splash zone; a water ring, with
12 jets shooting simultaneously to create a circle of
water and interchangeable
nozzles to control the flow and
spray pattern; and a rain tunnel, with 10 jets creating a
tunnel effect through which
users can walk through tunnels of flowing water.

A ‘Warm Your Hearts Praise Concert’ was held in the Paynesville auditorium on Sunday, Feb. 1. The concert featured uplifting music
from local church choirs, worship bands, and ensembles. Ticket sales benefitted the Paynesville Community Service Center, which
hopes to replenish its needs after the holidays. Kicking off the praise concert were performances by the worship band from
Paynesville E Free Church. Pictured are (left to right) Tatum Spanier, Pastor Brad Hopman, and Jeannie Reid. Turn to page
11 this week for more photos of the praise concert.
