I consider this a miracle.” Jeff died in 2001 when his trawler, the Arctic Rose, sank in the Bering Sea. The exact cause of the accident never was determined. April 2, 2001 BY HAL BERNTON AND MIKE CARTER The Seattle Times Six days before Christmas 2014, the doorbell rang at Kathy and David Meincke’s Olympia home. Two women were at the door, FBI agents, who pulled out their badges to identify themselves and gave the couple some stunning news. Five years earlier, fishermen had brought up three bones from the bottom of the Bering Sea. One bone, a tibia, had been finally identified through DNA analysis. It was the remains of the Meinckes’ son, Jeff, the FBI agents told them. He died on April 2, 2001, when The 92-foot 1 trawler Arctic Rose sank at around 3:30 a.m. Of the 15-man crew, only Dave Rundall’s body, the skipper, was recovered from the water. Developers are building apartments, condominiums, stores, restaurants and a hotel on the site of a shuttered copper smelter that has one foot in Ruston and one foot in Tacoma, population 203,446. Developers want Tacoma to extend its borders to take in the whole 97-acre site. Under state law, annexation requires the blessing of both municipalities, which Ruston find out. The project is anticipated to cost $5.1 million, but Tacoma officials say none of it will come from city coffers. The unanimous blessing of the council will allow arts boosters to approach the Andy Warhol Foundation for permission to use the image on the city-owned Dome, and to start raising the funds needed to install what would be the largest Warhol in for $100 towards Windshield Replacement Plus Free $25 Restaurant Gift Card Cascade Auto Glass This is not a coupon.
