Aéropostale selects Colorado Springs to launch new technology
Colorado Springs, Colo., September 26, 2013 – Aéropostale selected The Citadel Shopping
Center to launch its new store concept in Colorado, which matches technology to teens.
The Citadel is the first shopping center in the state and sixth in the western United States to have
an Aéropostale with this technology.
In the store, customers use iPad kiosks to scan items. The iPads provide 5 different outfit
recommendations. Other features allow customers to browse product reviews, vote for songs to
play in the store or custom playlists to jam to in the dressing rooms.
Recently, the company also launched an app that provides users with a style guide, outfit
builder, and branded videos.
According to Forbes Magazine, “Bank of America estimates retail sales through smartphones
and tablets in the U.S. and Europe to increase from $25 billion in 2012 to $67 billion in 2015.”
By targeting millennials through technology, Aéropostale aims to increase its sales as well.
Aéropostale specializes in apparel for 14-to17-year-old teenagers who are looking for “highquality, active oriented” apparel and accessories at “compelling values.” The company
operates 914 stores in 50 states and Puerto Rico, 75 stores in Canada and 97 P.S. from
Aéropostale stores, geared to children, in 22 states.
The store re-opened September 13, after being retrofitted with new technology, on the midlevel of The Citadel, 750 Citadel Drive East, to a line of customers.
“We are thrilled that The Citadel was selected by Aéropostale to introduce this new store
concept to Colorado. This technology is perfect for our demographic, and our customers are
excited to try it out,” said Jill Lais, Marketing Director for The Citadel.
