Dear Resident,
In an effort to better protect children, New York State established a Sex Offender Registry, more
commonly known as Megan’s Law. The Registry provides information concerning sex offenders
who reside in our community. Since the law was adopted, the Frontier and Hamburg Central
School Districts have provided residents with information concerning these convicted sex
offenders.
When the law was passed, guidelines and procedures were established that classified sex
offenders according to risk level. This information determined what information could be
released to the community.
This mailing, developed in collaboration with the Town of Hamburg Police Department, contains
an extensive list of convicted sex offenders residing in Hamburg and Blasdell. All information
that can be legally released is contained in this notification. Please note that the law does not
permit the disclosure of actual addresses of Level 1 sex offenders, as only their zip codes can be
released to the public.
In our continuing effort to keep residents informed and children safe, the Town of Hamburg
Police will host an informational session for parents and community members on February 12th.
The session will take place at Big Tree Elementary in the Frontier Central School District.

Parents, guardians and adults who care for children face constant challenges when trying to help keep children safe. For decades,
children were taught to stay away from “strangers.” However, this concept gives children the wrong message. Think about it, what
does that “bad stranger” look like? Often that “bad stranger” is someone the child knows, or may be familiar with.
It is more beneficial to help build children’s confidence by teaching them to respond to potentially dangerous situations, rather than
to teach them to look out for a particular type of person. If children know in advance how to react, they will have an excellent
chance to elude any dangerous situation that they may encounter. It is important that you teach your children the “what if”
situations, because you can not be in all places at all times.
To help parents recognize and avoid these situations, the Town of Hamburg Police Department will conduct an important safety
presentation. This presentations will include:
• Safety measures and “what if” situations to help protect and educate your children
• Megan's Law
• Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act

• Amber Alert

Sex Offenders are categorized into three “Levels of Risk.” These Levels determine the
risk of repeat offense and the level of danger posed to the public. These also determine
what information can be disseminated in this publication.
Level 1- Low Risk of Repeat and Danger Posed
Level 2- Moderate Risk of Repeat and Danger Posed
Level 3- High Risk of Repeat and Danger Posed
