Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) Peneraju Profesional Jurutera Lokomotif About the Program 1. What is this programme about? What does it aim to achieve? This programme aims to increase the number of certified professional engineers in railway industry through faster and shorter route. This programme is targeted to young engineers with high motivation and interest to obtain professional certification in the railway industry. The programme consists of two industry-recognised certifications:a) Signalling and Communication certification from Institution of Railway Signal Engineers (IRSE). b) Rolling Stock certification from Andalusia Association for Research and Industrial Cooperation (AICIA). 2. Who is this programme for? Program is targeted for graduates of Bachelor in engineering with minimum CGPA 2.50 or equivalent, credit in English (SPM) and age not more than 28 years old. 3. What’s unique about this programme? This programme gives you the opportunity in a short duration to be a certified engineer by obtaining a high quality European certification by Institution of Railway Signal Engineers (IRSE) for Signalling and Communication certification or Andalusian Association for Research and Industrial Cooperation (AICIA) for Rolling Stock certification. 4. Is this a scholarship or loan programme? Peneraju Profesional Jurutera Lokomotif is a convertible loan programme where only the tuition fees, certification fees and scholar allowance will be put under loan basis. Other costs which include tuition fees, bridging programmes and others will be covered by Yayasan Peneraju. Scholars are only required to pay only a maximum of 20% from the total of the mentioned fees upon completion of the programme. Further reduction in amount to pay will be subjected to Yayasan Peneraju’s discretion and scholar performance etc. However, loan portion can be convertible to the full scholarship if meets certain requirements by Yayasan Peneraju. 5. Is this programme offered in all states in Malaysia? Currently, the training centre for this programme is only at Kuala Lumpur. 6. How about employment? Will there be employment as part of this programme offering? Yes, employment is part of the programme. Job placement will done after completion of the training. 7. How many spots is Yayasan Peneraju offering under this programme? There are 100 spots to fill. However the final number of scholarships that will be offered is subject to the quality and calibre of the qualified candidates’ pool we receive each year. 8. Would I be bonded with Yayasan Peneraju after I have finished the programme? If yes, how many years would the bond be in effect? No. Scholars who have completed the programme will not be bonded by Yayasan Peneraju. However, scholars are required to work for minimum 3 years in Malaysia, or Malaysia incorporated company or if outside of Malaysia, scholars are required to work with a Malaysian based company. 9. Am I required to commit to any kind of official contract/ agreement? Yes. A contract will be established and signed between Yayasan Peneraju and scholar. 10. Would I be able to reject the offer if I am shortlisted? Yes, as long as the programme’s Letter of Offer has not been signed and delivered to Yayasan Peneraju. 11. What are the consequences I would face, should the contract be breached? Scholars who withdraw from the programme are required to pay back all costs incurred up to the point of breach to Yayasan Peneraju. 12. What does the loan cover? In general, it will cover Tuition & certification fees Scholar allowances 13. If I receive another loan/scholarship, am I still eligible to receive Yayasan Peneraju loan/scholarship? No. Only one scholarship is allowed at one time. Application Process 1. How do I apply for this programme? Application is made online. Visit www.penerajuedu.com 2. I am sure that there will be assessments for this programme. What is the structure of assessment? There will be technical assessment and interview. 3. If I make it to the next session, how will I be notified? Those who make it to the next round will be notified by the tuition provider in the form of phone call or email. Programme structure 1. How long is this programme for and what are its components? Programme duration is for 6 months training inclusive of 3 months of classroom learning and 3 months on job training with the industry. After completing the training, job placement will be done and will be monitored for one year. 2. ‘Nurture and Develop’ is one of Yayasan Peneraju promise in all its programmes. Where does it lie in this programme? ‘Nurture and Develop’ will be embedded within the training which will be conducted throughout the programmeme. Timeline 1. Application window? The application will open from January 30th to 28th February 2015. Other Questions 1. What if I’m currently taking my Rolling stock / Signalling & Communication certification? Can I still apply? No. We only accept applications from applicants who have not started their certification papers.
