A state-owned subsidiary within the Ervia Group, Irish Water is responsible for the operation of public water and wastewater services and provision of these services to over 1.5 million households across Ireland. This involves an expenditure of circa €1.1 billion per annum in the management of national water and wastewater assets, maintenance of the water and wastewater systems, investment and planning, managing capital projects and customer care and billing. Irish Water will continue to grow over the coming months into a high-performance organisation based both centrally in Dublin (with shared services in Cork) and across a number of regional offices. It is currently seeking talented and dynamic individuals across a range of skill sets and backgrounds who can work in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment to support the establishment and success of Irish Water over the coming months. The Role The Wastewater Licensing Analyst will contribute to and support the development of the long and medium term asset strategies. They will work with the Wastewater & Sludge Strategy team in providing strategic forward thinking in relation to wastewater and sludge treatment, disposal and re-use. The Wastewater Licensing Analyst will have responsibility for the management of both applications for new Waste Water Discharge Authorisations (WWDAs), review of existing licences and certificates and licence response. The Wastewater Licensing Specialist reports directly to the Wastewater and Sludge Strategy Specialist. The Wastewater and Sludge Strategy team is responsible for the development and management of wastewater strategies that enable safe and sustainable wastewater services to meet planned needs and serviceability standards effectively at lowest whole life cost. Main Duties and Responsibilities: • • • • Contribute to the definition of the long and medium term wastewater sludge strategies that meet the business needs and are sustainable Support development of long and medium term wastewater sludge asset strategies and supporting technical policies Manage new wastewater discharge authorisation (WWDA) applications; Identification of WWDA specific requirements and manage delivery of these outputs; • • • • • • • Develop overview of existing WWDA requirements (ELVs, specified improvement works etc.) to develop cohesive & consistent IW response for authorisation reviews, working closely with Environmental Regulation; Coordinate management of Annual Environmental Reports for licences; Liaison with regional Waste Water Asset Strategy Specialists & Environmental Regulation with regard to applications, authorisation requirements and incident management as appropriate. Maintain expert knowledge of technologies and processes relating to sludge from wastewater Contribute to the development of business processes/procedures Actively research and seek industry best practice, providing feedback on latest industry developments via company-wide reports and presentations Perform other such duties in relation to work and asset management as Irish Water may reasonably require Knowledge, Skills and Experience • • • • • • Relevant third level degree qualification preferably in Engineering, Environmental Science or a related discipline Minimum 5 years post qualification experience in a role with a focus on wastewater treatment and sludge management Technical knowledge of wastewater and sludge plant and networks and of sludge treatment, reuse and disposal options Experience in management of a licensing process is desirable Ability to: - Develop relationships to accomplish team goals coupled with dealing effectively with differences of opinion and conflict management, managing and coaching members of the team to secure high performance - Prioritise tasks, work with schedules and manage resources while remaining focused on team goals - Secure and compare information from multiple sources to identify business issues; committing to an action after weighing alternative solutions against decision criteria - Set high standards, by encouraging others to assume responsibility and accountability for tasks Excellent verbal and written communication skills Applications, including a current Curriculum Vitae should be emailed to the following address stating the job title and reference number in the subject line of your email: [email protected] The closing date for receipt of applications is the 13th February 2015.
