JOHN A. EASTMAN, PH.D., P.E. Senior Environmental Engineer Dr. Eastman is LJB's senior environmental engineer, joining LJB in 1987. He is a former university professor and is known among LJB’s clients for his innovative and cost-effective solutions to difficult problems. Dr. Eastman is an authority in physical, chemical and biological treatment processes as well as hydraulics. He oversees projects for municipal, commercial and industrial clients providing master planning, detailed design and quality control for water and wastewater treatment systems, well fields, water distribution, wastewater collection, pumping facilities, industrial wastewater treatment and groundwater remediation. An expert on alternative onsite wastewater systems, he is developing criteria for cluster systems and other innovative alternatives to conventional sewers. Dr. Eastman occasionally serves as an engineering expert witness for legal cases, which have included storm water issues, patent infringement and pond construction. He is a facilitator for LJB University, which is authorized by the International Association of Continuing Education and Training to provide continuing education credits for staff and clients. He has served as an expert witness concerning a leaking underground storage tank, a failed guy anchor system, and a land acquisition case. Assistant Professor, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI Dr. Eastman taught graduate and undergraduate classes in industrial waste treatment, principles of physical, chemical and biological processes, hydrology and water and wastewater treatment plant design. While at Michigan State University, he conducted research in wastewater treatment, with emphasis on sludge digestion.
