Reflection Questions
1. Amnon desired Tamar with great intensity and to
the point of frustration and exhaustion. What
types of preoccupation and domination with sexual
sin are prevalent in our society? How can we
extract ourselves from these sexual sins?
2. Amnon schemed to obtain his desire for Tamar.
What was he willing to sacrifice to get Tamar?
Describe a situation when someone made similar
wicked pursuits along with the resulting sacrifices?
Do people leap into wicked pursuits or is it
incremental with increasing intensity? How can we
stop obsessing and progressing with a sinful
pursuit?

3. Once Amnon took Tamar by force, what were the
dramatic consequences? Explain how satisfaction is
or is not achieved by making sinful choices? If
satisfaction is achieved, how long will it be
obtained? How do we stop choosing sin instead of
obeying (loving) our God?
4. David was furious with Amnon’s violation of Tamar.
What reason(s) did David as a father or as a king
have for not administering the proper justice for
this grievous act? What was the consequence for
ignoring Amnon’s sin? What types of outcome can
we expect when recognized sin in our families is left
unchecked and not punished? What does our Lord
expect us to do when we fall into sin?
