You may have noticed our large TV screen in the playground and are wondering what it is all
about! No, we are not showing the children cartoons and films outside when they need to be
engaged in more sporty activities! The purpose of the screen is three-fold:
1) The short extracts played during some playtimes are about teaching the children
about a variety of PSHE topics. For example, strategies to deal with bullying or
friendship issues, keeping themselves safe, healthy eating or, in fact, demonstrating
games and exercises (we had some great aerobics from some pupils the other day
during playtime!)
2) We have purchased a pop-up film studio to work alongside this screen. The children
will be making their own documentaries, films, reports etc. which can then be
publicised to a wider audience at the beginning of the day, through lunchtime or after
school. This will provide a real-life purpose for some of their curriculum work and we
hope will encourage the development of literacy skills as well as improving confidence
in presenting to others.
3) We are very conscious that there is a lot going on in school that parents cannot always
be part of. We are hoping to film as many aspects of school life as possible so that we
can showcase these for parents at the start and the end of the school day so you can
get a real sense of the learning that goes on
We are having training on how to manage our exciting new equipment over the next few
weeks so please be patient with us. Hopefully, you will be able to see the positive impact of
this new technology in the very near future!

Monday 9th – Friday 13th February
All the children will be enjoying a week focusing on the Chinese
New Year. We are fortunate to have activities provided by
Primary Workshops for School Ltd during the week to broaden
the children’s experiences.
Monday 9th February
Years 3 – 6 will be enjoying Origami activities
Tuesday 10th February - Nursery, Reception and Years 1 & 2 will take
part in a Chinese Dragon Dance. Parents with children in these year
groups are invited to watch the final dance at 3pm. Please come in
to school via the school office at 2.55pm
Friday 13th February
All the children will be mixed up for the day and will be taking part in
workshops led by teachers and Teaching Assistants. The activities will
be linked to the Chinese New Year celebrations.
Bags to School - Wednesday 11th February
Drop off before 9am on the grass in front of the school office. A blue bag was sent home for
you to fill with clothing, soft toys, shoes (tied together), belts and handbags. They cannot
accept dirty or wet clothing, single shoes, off cuts of material, mats or carpets or Bric a Brac.
This is a great fundraiser, which helps both the school and the environment, so please delve
deep into your cupboards. Please use a black bin liner if you have filled your blue bag or lost
it. The more they weigh the more they pay.

Parents are invited in to school to view their children’s work.
Well Done to …….
Well done to all the Key Stage 2 swimmers
who took part in the swimming gala. They
were awarded a silver medal. We came 4th
out of the 11 schools who took part
Lucy Brown who has achieved her stage 3 swimming award.
Georgie Hartland Lane who has achieved her stage 4 swimming award.
Ben Williams and Mollie Thomas who have been chosen to represent the
Wyre Forest at the New Aged Kurling Games in Worcester on Tuesday 3rd
March. Good luck!

Ellie Smith (Mrs Jones/Mrs Price) for being
an all round legend as well as creating an
incredible letter from Charles Darwin.
Ashar Browne (Miss Crowther) for his effort
and enthusiasm during music sessions with
Mrs Winscom this week.
Max Morgan (Mr Cottrill) for a great Charles
Darwin letter making use of his great
knowledge
Lotty Green (Miss Bradley) for working so
hard to improve your writing.
Owen Teasdale (Miss Piper) for putting so
much effort in with his handwriting.
Finlay Parody (Mrs Hares / Mrs Page) for
trying so hard with handwriting and
producing such neat work.
Isabelle Jones (Miss Hendy) for fantastic
money work adding coins together and
working out change from £10.
Bryn Beddall (Mrs Bennett) for fantastic
mental maths skills involving money.
Evi Lou Fahy (Miss Joyce) for good money
counting in numeracy – and always having
the biggest smile.
Piper Lily Andrews (Mrs Field) for her
enthusiasm for writing and improved letter
formation.
Elle Dobson (Mrs Tench) for fantastic
symmetrical patterns all week.
Imogen Woodhouse (Nursery) for excellent
maths work. You really impressed Mrs
Woakes with your explanation.
Naomi Rolls (Nursery) for a lovely
explanation of good games to play with
friends.

Sickness in School
We have had a number of children off
with a sickness bug this week – please
keep your child off school for 48 hours
after the last time they were sick or had
diarrhoea.
Spare Clothes
Please send in any leggings or boys
trousers aged 3 – 5 that you no longer
need for use in our nursery. , we would
be very grateful for any donated items.
Parent Governor Vacancy
Thank you to everyone who took part in the
ballot – there were over 200 votes.
We would like to congratulate and
welcome our two new parent governors

Nursery Gate- morning
Please note this is for Nursery use only. If
you arrive for school after 8.45am you
must enter the school via the school main
office.
PTFA NEW
Diary date……. Our next PTFA meeting is next Wednesday 11th
February at 7.30 at The Waggon and Horses, Kidderminster Road,
Bewdley. Please come along and see for yourself how easy and fun
it is to get involved.
Diary Date……. Easter Disco Thursday 19th March 6-7.30pm.
This is a new addition for the school this year. Refreshments will
be available. A yummy Chocolate Hamper raffle will be drawn on
the night.
Diary Date…… ELVIS TRIBUTE NIGHT June 26th, time TBC.
Tickets £5.
This promises to be a fantastic evening so grab your blue suede
shoes, gel up your quiff and book a table!! A bar will be available,
and nibbles on all tables will be included in the price. More details
to follow…

Kidderminster Harriers Community Scheme are holding football courses
KIDDERMINSTER, Baxter College
Wednesday 18th - Friday 20th February
Kidderminster Harriers Community Scheme are holding football courses for
children aged 5-14 years during the half term break. Open to all abilities, the
emphasis is on fun and taking part. The courses run 10am-3pm, cost £10 per
day, £19 for 2 days or £26 for 3 days. In the event of bad weather we have
both indoor and outdoor facilities available.

Let’s Celebrate Holiday Activities - Tuesday 18 – Friday 21 February, 10.30am-4pm
Join in with craft activity days exploring celebrations and festivals from around the world. A charge of £1
per child, per day, applies to participate in the craft activities.
Event runs 10.30am-4pm. Normal admission charges apply (£13 per family), plus £1 per child for the day's
activities. Each activity will close for a short lunch break but there will be at least one activity available at
