The Mean Girls and Freaky Friday star was arrested before dawn on Thursday and charged with thirddegree assault. She left a police station nearly four hours later hiding under a black jacket pulled over her head. Lohan was wearing leggings, a green mini-dress and high heels. She drove off in a black SUV with a driver, a woman and another man who was seen going in and out of the police station. Lohan, 26, allegedly got into the spat with another woman at Club Avenue, in Manhattan’s Chelsea section. She struck the woman in the face with her hand, police alleged. The woman did not require medical attention. The charges come just after Lohan’s portrayal of Elizabeth Taylor in the TV movie Liz & Dick premiered to harsh reviews from critics and the public. The arrest is Lohan’s latest brush with law enforcement in New York. She was involved in a New York Police Department investigation in September after alleging a man had assaulted her in a New York hotel, but charges against the man were later dropped. Also in September, the actress was accused of clipping a man with her car outside another Manhattan nightclub, but prosecutors chose not to move ahead with charges. In October, police were called to her childhood home on Long Island after a report of a fight between her and her mother. An investigation revealed ‘‘no criminality’’. Santa Monica Sergeant Richard Lewis said the California charges were filed yesterday morning, but he declined to release more details until a formal press release could be issued. He failed a sobriety test and was taken to a police station, according to the Sipa news agency. A call to Depardieu’s management company was not returned. The former family court judge’s son, lawyer Gregory Sheindlin, and his wife Laurie recently welcomed their first child together, Daniella Grace Pila Sheindlin, and Judy couldn’t be happier. Judge Judy, real name Judith Sheindlin, tells the New York Post’s Page Six column, ‘‘Welcoming this beautiful little girl is a treat, but whoever said it’s cheaper by the dozen . . . hasn’t had a dozen grandchildren,’’ Sheindlin said.
