"SUCCESSION: Mastering the Make or Break Process of Leadership Transition”
In the fall of 2011, when the board of directors of Hewlett-Packard announced the
resignation of CEO Léo Apotheker and the appointment of Meg Whitman as his
replacement, it marked the third time in less than a decade that the iconic but faltering
company had reached outside its own ranks to recruit a new leader. In a similar fumble two
years earlier at Bank of America, CEO Ken Lewis abruptly resigned with no successor in
place, leaving the bank’s board scrambling and further undermining the credibility and
resilience of yet another demoralized enterprise.
Success and failure stories alike vividly underscore that the decision of who will lead an
organisation into a successful future is by far the most momentous one that directors,
CEOs, or senior leaders will ever make. The unfortunate reality is that as many as 80
percent of leaders get this high-stakes decision wrong.
Prof Noel Tichy, Michigan Business School guru and worldwide consultant has been a point
guard on the management of many organisations including General Electric, Royal
Dutch/Shell, Coca-Cola, Mercedes-Benz, Ameritech, NEC and Royal Bank of Canada.
Blue-chip companies from around the world such as General Motors, Proctor & Gamble,
Chase Manhattan, Sony and Honda have sent their executives to attend Noel Tichy's
famed Global Leadership Program. He has authored many books including THE
LEADERSHIP ENGINE: How Winning Companies Build Leaders at Every Level (with
Eli Cohen), named one of the top 10 business books in 1997 by BusinessWeek.
Come spend an evening with Prof Tichy and bring home more insight into high–stakes
succession. 30 complimentary copies of Prof Tichy’s newly released book “SUCCESSION:
Mastering the Make or Break Process of Leadership Transition” worth $45 each will be
given to the participants on a first-come basis at the event. So hurry, sign up now!
