Time of My Life
It’s the evening of Laura Stratton’s birthday and her
husband, Gerry, has organized a family dinner with
their sons, Glyn and Adam, at their favourite
restaurant to celebrate.
Glyn is accompanied by his long-suffering wife,
Stephanie, and Adam has brought along his new
girlfriend, an outrageous hairdresser. What could
possibly go wrong to spoil the happy occasion?
As the evening progresses and the empty wine
bottles pile up, family skeletons intrude on the
happy domestic scene, which moves backwards
and forwards over three time zones, revealing what
has brought the family to this point and where life
will take them in the future.

Key for Two
a comedy by
John Chapman and Dave Freeman
Harriet, a glamorous divorcee living way beyond
her means in an elegant flat in Brighton, solves
her financial problems by entertaining two
married ‘gentlemen callers’ on different days of
the week.
As long as nothing disturbs the balance of this
rather precarious arrangement, all will be well.
Unfortunately, the scheme faces collapse when
her friend, Anne, arrives at the flat at precisely
the time that one of Harriet’s lovers is confined to
her bed with a sprained ankle, and the second
lover turns up unexpectedly.
Things go from bad to worse with the arrival of
two irate wives in search of their missing
husbands, resulting in chaos and mass
confusion, ensuring that mistaken identity and
farcical situations abound.

My Boy Jack
BY DAVID HAIG
The year is 1913 and war with Germany
is imminent.
Committed patriot Rudyard Kipling is
determined to send his severely myopic
fifteen year old son John (Jack) to war.
Kipling’s intransigent determination triggers
a bitter family conflict, and the tragic outcome
of his insistence leaves him devastated by
the warring of his own great passions:
his love for his children and his devotion to
King and Country.

ME

GIRL
Me and My Girl is a musical with music by Noel Gay and its original book
and lyrics by Douglas Furber and L. Arthur Rose. Set in 1930s London,
costermonger Bill Snibson finds out that he is the illegitimate heir to
Lord Hareford. Bill is left to use his wit and humour to break down the
class divisions. Hilarious and witty dialogue ensures the fun and games
never cease as the cheeky and cheerful Bill learns to overcome the
disapproval of his new family.
The musical, which includes songs The Sun Has Got His Hat On, Leaning
on a Lampost, Me & My Girl and the famous Lambeth Walk, makes a
joyful, colourful and gloriously funny show that will lift the spirits of
everyone.

Ivor Novello award winning lyricist, singer and actress, Jackie Trent,
returns to the stage to star in this World Premiere! Born Yvonne
Burgess in 1940, this is a truly remarkable story of a girl from the
Potteries who went on to work with the biggest names in the
industry, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis jnr, Shirley Bassey, Jack Jones,
Petula Clark, Morecambe and Wise....the list goes on.
Alongside Tony Hatch, they became known as Mr and Mrs Music,
producing over 400 songs, two smash hit Musicals - The Card and
Rock Nativity and they also enjoyed a string of TV theme tunes, most
notably Neighbours. Jackie last returned to the stage in a critically
acclaimed production of High Society in 1995.
But what of those early years, how did it all start and what made
Jackie Trent one of the most successful song writers of the 20th
Century?
Join the Porthill Players as we celebrate the life and music of this
incredible lady in ‘Jackie – The Jackie Trent Story’

Godspell is a musical by Stephen Schwartz (composer of “Wicked”)
and book by John-Michael Tebelak. This immensley successful rock
opera needs little introduction, but when it was first produced on
Broadway in 1971 it broke new ground in its stage treatment of the
historical Jesus Christ.
Based on the gospell according to St. Matthew it deals with the last
days of Jesus and includes dramatised versions of several well-known
parables and yet it issomething more than a religious story, it is a
celebration of mankind and community spirit.
