Spiritual Communion Prayer
My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the Most Holy
Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive
You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You
sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace
You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to
You. Never permit me to be separated from You. AMEN.

Priesthood and the

"
“Go, show yourself to the priest, and offer for your
cleansing what Moses commanded." (Mark 1, 44)
Some say that priesthood is a creation of the Church and
that Christ did not intend to make a priesthood. Here he
acknowledges the Levitical priesthood, which he raised up
and made perfect by his own sacrifice, creating an eternal
priesthood which shall not pass away. The bodily healing
of the stain of leprosy is a sign of the perfect healing of
redemption made once for all by Christ the High Priest.
The one priesthood of Christ
Everything that the priesthood of the Old Covenant
prefigured finds its fulfillment in Christ Jesus, the "one
mediator between God and men." (1 Tim 2:5) The Christian
tradition considers Melchizedek, "priest of God Most
High," as a prefiguration of the priesthood of Christ, the
unique "high priest after the order of Melchizedek'; (Heb
5:10; cf. 6:20; Gen 14:18) "holy, blameless,
unstained," (Heb 7:26) "by a single offering he has forever
perfected for all time those who are sanctified," (Heb
10:14) that is, by the unique sacrifice of the cross.
(CCC 1544)
The redemptive sacrifice of Christ is unique, accomplished
once for all; yet it is made present in the Eucharistic
sacrifice of the Church. The same is true of the one
priesthood of Christ; it is made present through the
ministerial priesthood without diminishing the uniqueness
of Christ's priesthood: "Only Christ is the true priest, the
others being only his ministers." (St. Thomas Aquinas,
Hebr. 8, 4) (CCC 1545)

the Catholic Church.)

St. Bernadette
Feast Day: February 18
Born:1844 :: Died:1879
Bernadette Soubirous was born in Lourdes,
France to Francois and Louise Casterot who
were very poor. She was the oldest of six children but was frail and often sick.
On Thursday, February 11, 1859, around the time of her First
Communion, Bernadette was sent with her younger sister and a
friend to gather firewood. She looked up and caught sight of the
cave where she saw a lady wearing a lovely white dress with a
bright belt. On top of each of her feet was a pale yellow rose, the
same color as her rosary beads. Then she began to say the rosary
while the lady let her beads clip through her fingers, without moving her lips. The beautiful lady who appeared to Bernadette above
a rosebush in the grotto of Massabielle was God's Mother, the
Blessed Virgin Mary. She appeared to Bernadette eighteen times
and spoke with her. She told Bernadette that she should pray for
sinners and do penance. The Lady also told her to have a chapel
built there in her honor. Many people did not believe Bernadette
when she spoke of her vision. She had to suffer very much. But
one day Our Lady told Bernadette to dig in the mud. As she did, a
spring of water began to flow. The next day it continued to grow
larger and larger. Many miracles happened when people began to
use this water. When Bernadette was older, she became a sister.
She was always very humble and did not want to be praised. She
did not want to receive special treatment just because she had
actually seen the Blessed Virgin.Although her own health was
poor, she helped care for the sick and elderly sisters. She died in
1879 at the age of thirty-six. Her last words were: "Holy Mary,
pray for me, a poor sinner."
Reflection: Let us pray for conversion of hearts and minds so
that many people will come to know and love God

Regenerating Moral and Spiritual Values in our Society
What should I do for Lent?
Well, here are 10 suggestions by Pope Francis.
1. Get rid of the lazy addiction to evil
“[Lent] is a ‘powerful’ season, a turning point that can
foster change and conversion in each of us. We all
need to improve, to change
for the better. Lent helps us and thus we leave
behind old habits and the lazy addiction to the
evil that deceives and ensnares us.”
2. Do something that hurts
“Lent is a fitting time for self-denial; we would do
well to ask ourselves what we can give up in order
to help and enrich others by our own poverty. Let
us not forget that real poverty hurts: no self-denial
is real without this dimension of penance. I distrust
a charity that costs nothing and does not hurt.”
3. Don’t remain indifferent
“Indifference to our neighbour and to God also represents a real temptation for us Christians. Each
year during Lent we need to hear once more the
voice of the prophets who cry out and trouble our
conscience. God is not indifferent to our world; he
so loves it that he gave his Son for our salvation.”
Ash Wednesday Masses are as follows 6am St. Theresa’s, 9am Maracas R.C. School, 5:30pm St. Cecilia’s and
