It is also known as “Harbinger of Green Revolution” in India. The College of Technology, one of the constituent colleges of the university, was established in 1962 and presently offers eight bachelor and twenty four post graduate degree programmes. ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT The Department of Electrical Engineering was established in 1966. The department is currently running B.Tech, M.Tech (Electrical Energy System) and Ph.D programs. OBJECTIVES and SUB-THEMES India has vast natural resources and is marching ahead on the fast track of development of rural electrification. Our country has tremendous scope to explore various aspects of rural electrification. On one hand, there are remote areas where the availability of the grid supply is difficult, whereas on the other hand, there is ample availability of energy in the form of solar, wind, water, geothermal etc. that can be harnessed and used for rural electrification. Major objectives of the workshop are as follows: To promote the R&D in the field of rural electrification To share the knowledge of the experts and to motivate the students in the field of rural electrification. Affordable and sustainable model for building up a pilot project for sustainable rural power delivery in the context of Uttrakhand and its scalability post pilot project Identification of hybrid sources of power and distribution system for rural consumer Predictive modeling and integration of alternative/renewable sources of power into grid for reliable and affordable supply. Distribution of power to remote areas through appropriate and sustainable models of DC/AC Micro-grid Capacity building in terms of manpower, training and resources for effective and efficient management of rural power delivery ICT tools and technologies for monitoring of renewable power delivery and storage systems for smart grid functionalities. Entrepreneurship development issues in rural power delivery system. Community mobilization to ensure sustainability Decentralized distributed generation technologies ACCOMMODATION Free Boarding & Lodging will be provided by the host institute for all the external participants of the workshop.
