MARRIAGE Preparations for the Sacrament of Marriage are very important and take time. JOHN’S BREAD AND LIFE This ministry, rooted in St. John the Baptist, carries on the good work of the Vincentian Fathers and the Daughters of Charity. Their mobile soup kitchen is a customized Recreational Vehicle serving daily hot meals and providing outreach services to a number of New York City’s most impoverished communities located in East New York, Brownsville, Woodside, Jackson Heights, Coney Island and Williamsburg. Their guests receive a nutritious meal served in a friendly manner. On Ash Wednesday, we will be accepting your contributions in support of their work of charity. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU… The Annual Catholic Appeal supports many ministries and services that are essential to the life of the church in Brooklyn and Queens. In 2014, 331 Families and individuals from our parish made gifts to the appeal. I am happy to report that we went over our goal and as a result the parish received a check in the amount of $1050.00 to be used here in St. Francis. Msgr. John J. Gerard Casey ASH WEDNESDAY DISTRIBUTION OF ASHES Ashes will be distributed at all the Masses 6:30, 9:00 and at 7:30 PM. We will also distribute ashes at 3:00 PM. During Lent we will have a 7:30 PM Mass starting on Ash Wednesday. Every Wednesday during Lent there will be a 7:30 PM evening Mass. We will have visiting priests celebrating these Masses. Msgr. This will be an ongoing, non-perishable food collection to provide local food pantries with much needed supplies. Items of particular need include dry milk, tuna, hot and cold cereal, pasta, tomato sauce, rice, beans, PB&J, soups, canned fruits and vegetables. Please no glass donations. This is a free service and is available for anyone who has a hearing aid and may be experiencing some difficulty caring for it or using it.
