It seems like yesterday that the doors to the CRC
Recreation and Fine Arts Complex opened and
people of all ages, from Mitchell County and beyond,
began utilizing the complex for wellness, recreation,
entertainment, celebrations and much more. We
are deeply thankful for the continued support of our
positive communities, generous donors, committed
volunteers and of course, our members and guests who
inspire us and make us smile. During our 5th Anniversary
Celebration, we will be giving back to you to say “thank

SPRING FITNESS CLASSES
Join the positive, energizing environment of CRC fitness
classes! Our wellness coaches are eager to challenge,
motivate and assist you in achieving your personal
wellness goals. Whether you want to improve strength,
endurance, flexibility, balance, lose weight or tone
your body, CRC fitness classes are customized to meet
your individual needs. New sessions of fitness classes
are offered each month. Please refer to the monthly
brochure for current class offerings.
Drop-In classes are a great way to try a class to see if it’s
for you. They also add variety to your workout regimine.

Cardio Combo is a refreshing exploration of two ways
you can give your body an excellent cardio workout.
You can choose to register for the entire hour of this
class or for either of the 30 minute workouts.
First 30 minutes of class (Tabata):
A tabata-style class consisting of a rotation of high
intensity, short duration exercises such as jumping jacks,
mountain climbers and burpees. This full-body workout is
great for burning fat and blasting calories.
Last 30 minutes of class (Lap It Up in the pool):
Reduce stress on joints and improve or finesse your
stroke during a 30 minute pool workout. Workouts will
vary in intensity, but you can work according to your
level of comfort with basic strokes. Kickboards and
pull buoy will be introduced. Come and enjoy a great
workout with friends!

The CRC Member Drop-In Punch Card is
another benefit for CRC Members wanting
to try a variety of classes or for those who
cannot commit to a 4 week session. The
punch card is $50 for 10 Drop-In classes.

Believe in the power of you as you run, jog and power
walk your way through this cardio class. Two health
benefits of a regular cardio workout include an
increased metabolism and building a strong, healthy
heart. According to Women’s Health Magazine, even
one 30-minute cardio workout can be good for your
brain. “A 30-minute cardio session pumps extra blood
to your brain, delivering the oxygen and nutrients it
needs to perform at max efficiency. Cardio also floods
the brain with chemicals that enhance functions such as
memory, problem solving, and decision making.” This
class is a great follow-up after taking the Power of You
program. All fitness levels welcome.

Indoor cycling is a high intensity, calorie-blasting
workout you will enjoy on our top-of-the-line stationary
bikes. Our instructors will lead you through a workout
that is tailored to you by adjusting the bike to fit you
perfectly and setting your resistance to find a pace
that’s just right whether your a beginner or a seasoned
pro. It is a great exercise for toning and shaping your
body and for increasing your cardiovascular health. . .
all in a FUN group setting!
CYCLING PLUS

A twist on the basic indoor cycling class. The first 30
minutes is a heart-pumping and calorie-burning cycling
class. The PLUS will be an extra boost of strength to
really get those muscles working. Some days may
involve kettle bells, bands and/or medicine balls.
FAST & FURIOUS CYCLING

Are you short on time, but would love to experience the
many benefits of an intense morning workout? Fast and
Furious Cycling is 35-40 minutes of high intensity, indoor
cycling designed for those who are motivated, but
short on time. You can challenge yourself to maximize
your distance and caloric burn and pull back when you
need to rest. Grab a buddy and try this great workout!
As with all CRC fitness classes, you can work at the level
that is most comfortable for you.
RISE & SHINE CYCLING

Rise! Shine! Cycle! This class is a great way to start
your day! Studies have shown that an early morning
workout can boost brain power, improve your mood
and energy levels, burn calories faster adn lower food
cravings throughout the day. Grab a friend and join the
early birds for a great indoor cycling workout!
DANCE CARDIO

Get your groove on and burn calories! Dance fitness
class incorporates a variety of music that makes for a
fun, effective workout. You do not have to be able to
dance to enjoy this class!

What do you get when you combine water and
some great tunes...a fun, low-impact cardio workout!
H2O Boogie focuses on core muscles and muscle
strengthening exercises that work the upper and lower

it turns it into an effective and FUN piece of water

PiYo™ is a high intensity, low impact workout that
combines Pilates with yoga-inspired moves. This unique
blend of movements are designed to build strength,

The Power of You class is a great
way to make your goals a lifestyle. It is an effective
combination of cardio and strength exercises using
equipment, body weight and interval based training to
build strength, increase flexibility and burn fat.
REACHING FOR BETTER HEALTH

This class incorporates gentle range of
motion exercises to help people move
and feel better. If you are retired, have been injured
or have limited mobility, this program will help you to
feel better and have more energy. The classes will also
include relaxation techniques and education.

STRENGTH & CARDIO
YOGA
Learn to build strength using bands, your own body
weight, and even kettle bells. This class will introduce you
to the many benefits of building up strength. Your heart
will get pumping too with bursts of cardio throughout the
workout!
Yoga brings together physical and mental exercises
to achieve peacefulness of body and mind. This class
includes Yoga breathing, beginning and intermediate
postures and meditative awareness in a comfortable
environment. Enjoy the freedom of working at your own

Step outside of your box and try this new aquatic
program! Synchronized Swimming is one of the most
enjoyable aquatic activities, and is a great workout! You
will learn new skills and choreographed dance moves
in the water to create a fabulous routine. This program
is suitable for all skill levels, however, you must be
comfortable in the water, know how to tread water and
be able to float in the water in different positions.
If you are interested in trying Synchronized Swimming
101, please call or visit the Welcome Desk. Class
dates and times will be determined by interest shown.
TURBO KICK

Turbo Kick is a combination of kickboxing moves, athletic
moves and lots of fun combinations to motivating music.
It is the ultimate cardio challenge that is a unique blend
of intense intervals, strength and endurance training and
a relaxing cool-down. Requires no previous kickboxing
experience or equipment. All fitness levels are welcome
in this class.

with CRC members and guests to discover the areas of
wellness they would like to improve, set goals, and work

WATER WELL-BEING

Join experienced instructor and wellness educator,
Laura Wynohrad, as she shares gentle, yet challenging
moves in the water that will make you feel great! This
new class is for anyone that wants to get in the water.
You may work in the shallow or deep end of the pool.
In addition to moving your body, Laura will be teaching
lessons and sharing ideas on how to live a healthy
lifestyle. Information will come from Dr. Michelle Robin’s
book, Wellness on a Shoestring, as well as other credible
sources.
100 MILE WALK/RUN CLUB
REACH YOUR GOAL AT YOUR OWN PACE
AGES 7TH GRADE & UP
Try this challenge to improve your heart health, maintain
a healthy weight and to meet new friends! Each time
you walk at the CRC, simply record your mileage on the
record card available at the Welcome Desk. You can
walk at your own pace and once you reach 100 miles,
you will receive a CRC 100-Mile Walk/Run Club shirt.

AGES 7TH GRADE & UP
Are you looking to add a splash of excitement to your
water workout? Join the CRC’s 100-Mile Swim Club! Each
time you swim at the CRC, simply record your yardage/
mileage on the record card available at the Welcome
Desk. You can work at your own pace and once you
reach 100 miles, you will receive a CRC 100-Mile Swim
Club shirt.

Do you need some training time for a triathlon this
summer? Join us for this swimming, biking and running
program that incorporates 3 days of training and extra
workouts to do on your own. The goal of the program is
to be able to swim 300-500 meters, run 3.1 miles and bike
12-16 miles. Because this is a training program, Drop-Ins
are not available.
Cost:
$72 CRC members

This 8-week program meets 3 times a week.

The fee covers the use of the CRC sport court, lockerrooms
and shirts. Use of other areas of the Wellness Center by nonmembers requires the purchase of day passes.
FREE PHYSICAL THERAPY SCREENINGS
Do you have pain, discomfort or balance issues hindering
your workout at the CRC? We can help. The CRC and
the Mitchell County Regional Health Center are working
together to offer you free physical therapy screenings.
Jamie Sledd, Physical Therapist and Director of Rehab
Services at MCRHC, will perform the screenings. If you are
looking for help or direction with some of these physical
issues, please visit the CRC Wellness Center at
809 Sawyer Drive in Osage to pick up your information
and appointment packet. We look forward to helping
you feel and move better!

COMMUNITY SWIM MEET

Preregistration is preferred, but walk-ins are
welcome.
Every girl should realize and embrace her beauty- both
inside and out. The new BIOGIRL program gives girls in
5th grade the tools to improve their health and their selfesteem. . . all in a comfortable, fun environment.
This open community swim meet will allow students to
take their swim lesson skills to a competitive level. It will
also give students who have taken the swim team clinics
or swim club to experience an open swim meet. Must be
able to swim in 12’6” depth and have passed a deep
end water test.
The Cedar River Complex Wellness Center has teamed
up with several wellness and health professionals in our
area to design and implement the BIOGIRL program.
The BIOGIRL program will empower girls to incorporate
healthy living and physical activity into their lives through
wellness workshops, fun fitness classes, small group
discussions, journaling and nutrition tools.
Entry fee: $2.00 per swimmer. Swimmers may register
for up to 3 events. Ribbons will be awarded to all
participants and place winners. Swimsuits required.
Goggles and swim caps are preferred, but optional.

The spacious, zero-depth-entry
pool is a perfect area for young children to enjoy the
water features and the fish slide. People of all ages
enjoy the 100-foot “lazy river”- whether they are walking with or against the current. Who can resist showing
off their dives in our recreation pool which is 12.6 feet at
its deepest point. Any season is a great time to host a
private pool party!
We will match you with an instructor according to your needs
and time of day you are available. Our instructor will then
contact you for the dates and times for your private lessons. If

The Family Fun Zone is a party room kids and parents
will enjoy. Equipped with several types of games as
well as a sink and a refrigerator, the Family Fun Zone
is a great spot for youth birthday parties or group fun
events. Enjoy your cake and ice cream and open
presents in the Family Fun Zone. Afterwards, your party
can resume in the pool for a fun swim. Because these
parties take place during business hours and open
swim times, it is a very affordable option.

doors in 2008 and serves as a celebration space for a
wide variety of events. It is a modern, versatile venue
serving communities throughout northern Iowa.
Immediately upon entering the CRC Events Center,
your visions of a wedding reception or other special
event come alive and you realize you have come to
the right place to celebrate.

A CRC membership is based on an annual contract.
You can opt to pay this annual contract in 12 monthly
payments via electronic payment or by one payment of the
annual fee. A $40 joiner’s fee will be charged in addition to
the membership fees to start your membership.
