And again I'm sure some of us would like to shed a few pounds. The Lodge opened the New Year with a bang of a party. Thanks to Terry Morehouse and all the volunteers, a great time was had by all. Exalted Ruler Message John Bice Mark your calendars now for some events you won't to want to miss in February. Starting with the annual "Valentines Gala "on February 14th,and this year it falls on the actual day of this fun loving event. So, be sure to purchase your tickets early. Also in February is our annual Ladies of the Elks Variety Show on the 21st of the month. At the ladies variety show, you just never know what is coming to floor next. Trust me, be there done that routine. My Elk of the month for December is Debbie Rase. When it comes to making desserts, Debbie is one to get it done. The desserts for our New Years Eve party were home made by Debbie and her sweat crew. She is also one of the cooks on the Sunday morning breakfast teams. Volunteer of the month of December goes to Eric Matos. Eric is one of our newest and youngest members of the Lodge. And, it didn't take him long to step up and volunteer. He enjoys working in the kitchen, and is always willing to do whatever is needed. If Eric is the future of Elkdom, we are in fine hands. One of my biggest tasks each month is naming Elk and Volunteer of the month. There are many who deserve recognition for the work they do for the Lodge. And with that said, I want to thank everyone who volunteers month after month. You may not be posted in the Spotlight, but your work does not go unnoticed. Fraternally Yours, John Bice We had a great time in January. What a way to start the New Year off… We got to enjoy good food and shop till we drop at the Fashion show. Thanks to Barb Peach and all the ladies that worked so hard to make this a fun day. (I surely had fun shopping!) LOEA President Message Bonnie Barnes Then we twisted the night away at the Sock Hop with the Original Impacs. This was a fantastic event that everyone enjoyed! A very special thank you to Linda Musgrave, Joanne and the whole group of helpers that did a wonderful job and made the night a big success! Thanks!!! Moving into February, we have the Tacky Tourist party on Sunday Feb 8th from 5-9. It doesn’t matter what you wear, the tackier the better! Don’t forget the camera, not just for part of the tourist outfit, but to take some funny pictures. The laughs don’t stop there…February 21st is the Variety Show, and you never know what you might see there! It’s a sure thing you will laugh 'til it hurts. Contact Cathy Shriver if you want to be in this event. So make sure you get your tickets for these 2 events and have some fun! Start cleaning out the closets and the garage. The LOEA is having a Rummage Sale the beginning of March. Please contact Adella Ashton for more information on items you may have to donate, or if you would like to have a table of your own to sell stuff. This being the month of Valentine’s Day…remember to tell someone you love them or give a big hug to someone who needs it! God himself doesn’t propose to judge a Man until he is dead. So why should you? God promises a safe landing, Not a calm passage. Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass. It’s about learning to dance in the rain. Well 2015 is here and I want to thank everyone who have cared about our veterans at Bay Pines. I've been taking clean used clothes out to the domiciliary for the veterans on the 2nd Wednesday during bingo. They do appreciate it since there are no clothes available to them thru the VA. We have a mixture of men and women veterans out there. I counted up 34 women vets compared to about a 100 men vets. Any donations will be appreciated. On December 11th we had 13 vets from the community living center, they were served by Blaine Russell, Liz Ramsburg, Gary Hill, Vivian Gustafson, Linda Prunkard and Jim Taylor. On December 18th our lodge hosted 16 veterans from the domiciliary. They were served by Gary Hill, Blaine Russell, Liz Ramsburg, Linda Prunkard, and Jim Taylor. I want to thank the caring elks who drop off essentials needed for vets. These items were toothbrushes, soap, socks, underwear, t-shirts and shaving cream. These are items that we give out to the new veterans who are just coming into the facility. Thanks again! In Comradeship, Johnny Miller, Veterans Chairman Let’s Dance PROPOSED!CANDIDATES! !
