low. This annual collection for St. Joseph Church is
the ONLY 2nd collection we take up that is comparable to the Grand Annual of other churches. We
hope you will take this into consideration. If you
did not have a chance to contribute last weekend,
we ask that you please help out in the next few

Medical Missionaries of Mary
The Medical Missionaries of Mary have embarked
on a new phase of healing mission in Brazil with
the Project “Consolacao: (consolation), hoping to
reach out to bereaved families, especially mothers.
There were more than 12,000 victims of violence
over the last 12 years in the city of Salvador alone.
We are doing this in response to the cry of the poor,
not to mention the isolation and stigmatization
many mothers suffer due to the drug and crime related deaths their loved ones suffer. The pain is
often minimized and ever ignored by society at
large. This Sunday our Sisters and two of our Associates will be speaking at all the Masses. Your help
with our Quarter Appeal enables us to reach out to
these crying mothers. Please keep them in your
prayers. They are grateful for the smallest remembrance.
The Novena of Grace will be prayed at the
daily Masses at the Tri-Parishes of St. Ann,
St. Catherine of Genoa and St. Joseph beginning March 4th through March 12th.

Love is not fulfilling oneself through the use of another. Love

Wednesday Evening Confessions Across the
Archdiocese this Lent
On all the Wednesdays of Lent beginning February
25th until April 1st, from 6:30-8:00pm, we will be
offering confessions at our three Tri-Parishes together with all the Catholic parishes and chapels in
the Archdiocese of Boston. This outreach is called
“The Light is On For You,” and is an effort on the
part of our Archdiocese to highlight the
importance of the Sacrament of Confession in the
life of Catholics and to make it as easy as possible
for every Catholic to come or to return to this great
source of God’s mercy and healing love. You are
welcome to come here or to go to any other Catholic parish or chapel. The Archdiocese has set up a
website, www.TheLightIsOnForYou.org, with lots of
great material and videos to help you prepare.
Please make plans to come yourself and please
invite others take advantage of this great opportunity to be reconciled and begin anew your journey
in faith this Lent.
SIXTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME, FEBRUARY 15, 2015
A Note from Father Brian:
Bulletin Connection to the Readings:
He remained outside in deserted places, and people
kept coming to Him from everywhere.” Nothing
could stop the crowds from gathering. Men, women
and children traveled from near and far—
everywhere—to find Jesus. Word had spread quickly
about the miraculous healing of the leprous man.
People wanted to know what it was all about. Yet, He
had the power to cure illnesses and drive at demons.
Even more than that, He had the power to change
hearts. His words of compassion and mercy, and the
actions that backed them up, must have caused many
a conversion during those encounters in the deserted
places.
Although we do not have the opportunity to see Him
in person, we do have the chance to search for Jesus
and to find Him. Sometimes, He may seem remote.
We may not automatically feel His presence. Perhaps,
when times are tough, we may wonder where He is
hiding. It is when we persevere in our journey by
praying, reading the Bible, and receiving the Sacraments. We, too, can find the Lord. As we bring our
needs to Him, Jesus is “moved with pity” for us as
well and will extend to us the healing love that has
transformed so many hearts throughout Christian
history.
Stewardship News: In today’s second reading, St.
Paul urges the Corinthians to “do all for the glory of
God.” If we follow that advice in everything we do,
we cannot help but be good stewards.
Contemporary Catholics: Join Fr. Curran on Sundays after the 11:00 a.m. Mass in St. Joseph’s newly
restored lower church for a new video series highlighting recent church developments and heroes of
the faith. The series begins on Sunday, February
22, 2015 for Lent. Light refreshments.

Lenten Regulations
Lent is a period of special penitential observance,
therefore, the Catholic Church, in an attempt to help
Catholics do at least a minimum during Lent, asks all
Catholics to fast and abstain from meat on certain
days. Fasting means to limit food to one full meal a
day with the possibility of two smaller meals (not adding up to a full meal) as needed. Abstinence means not
eating meat, although fish is allowed. Catholics are
asked to observe all days of fasting and abstinence
which is one of the precepts of the Church.
Catholics 14 years of age or older are to abstain from
meat on Ash Wednesday and all the Fridays of Lent.
Catholics between the ages of 14 and 59 are also
asked to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. If
one’s work or health make it inadvisable to fast or abstain from meat, they are not obligated to do so. No
eating between meals, but liquids, including milk and
fruit juices, are allowed.
Regarding all other weekdays of Lent participation in
daily Mass is recommended and the voluntary observance of fasting. Commendable, particularly during
Lent is generosity to local, national and world programs
for sharing our abundance.
