The Dickens County Emergency Management Team,
with the assistance of the USDA Natural Resource
Conservation Service, the Spur Volunteer Fire
Department, and Dickens County plan to perform a
prescribed burn which includes acreage west of Spur
(west of the old Agricultural Experiment Station) to
establish a fire-safe buffer for the city’s west side.
The burn will be performed sometime during the next two
weeks when the weather offers optimal conditions with
