Another warm and sunny day
brought Rotarians and guests
to a new venue: the new and
very elegant Bella Rosa Center
at Garre Winery, corner of
Tesla and Greenville, there
to enjoy samplings of their
regular lunch menu, very nice
indeed.

President Milly rang the
meeting to order and, using
a projected image of our
flag, called on Nile Runge to
lead the traditional Pledge of
Allegiance.
Songsters Michael Ferrucci, Al
Frank, Kathy Coyle, Kathy Streeter
and Mike Riehl then led us in
singing a slightly paraphrased
son “He’s got the whole wild
world in his hands” to welcome
supervisor Scott Haggerty as our
speaker; Alas, Scott arrived later,
whereupon we interrupted the
events to resing the welcoming
song.

Anyway, Jack grew up in San
Francisco, attended Santa Clara

has been officed in Stoneridge,
has taught for 20 years at Las
Positas College, and has been a
Livermore resident since 1971.
He makes his home in Granada

visiting a sister city in Japan,

Paul Thompson described
his recent trip to Gettysburg,
where he reenacted Picketts
Charge, and to the former
battlefields

and Manassas. For lighter
moments he saw plays in NYC
and strolled through Central
Park. He donated $100 to

the RI fund.
Jay Davis is retiring soon from
his responsibilities heading

counterpart to a Nobel Prize).
Good news for us Lab retirees:
the courts have now decided in
our favor in the issue of medical
care financing. Jay joined the
President’s Club.
Stu Gary introduced our
speaker, Scott Haggerty, with
much praise for the 17 years of
service Scott has given us. The
topic today was Transportation,
which has been a major interest
of Scott. His talk centered on
Measure BB, on the ballot
this November, a proposal
that would provide much
needed funding for a variety of
transportation needs that failed
by some 751 votes to gain the
required 2/3 approval of voters
two years ago.
All adults in this valley know
very well the many issues
relating
to
transportation,
ranging from street potholes
and unsafe school crossings to

bring increasing demands
for personal auto use and
for alternative forms of
transportation

BB is designed to help meet
those needs.
